We spent Christmas in Athens and wanted one day outside the city. We chose the trip to Cape Sounion and Nikos because of his interest in history and archaeology. Because of the time of the year, we were not interested in a beach stop but wanted a coastal drive and munch in a local restaurant. We also asked him to suggest anything else of interest in the area. He collected us from our hotel at 9.30 a.m. The drive to Cape Sounion was stunningly beautiful. On the way, he provided interesting information about ancient and modern Athens. He was very easy to talk to, and we enjoyed the conversation. At Sounion ,we had all the time we wanted to explore the temple precinct, soak up the atmosphere and marvel at the play of sea, distant mountains and light. Afterwards , he took us to the ancient silver mines in Lavrio. This area was new to us. Nikos gave us detailed explanations of the history of the area, the ancient mining processes and also showed us the stone theatre. Afterwards, we went to a small taverna for an excellent local. lunch . We arrived back at the hotel shortly before five. Nikos was an exceedingly pleasant and knowledgeable companion. He was thoughtful and understanding of my reduced mobility and completely fulfilled all our expectations for the day. A Perfect December Outing

Through a hotel error we suddenly had some time to fill in Athens and John came to our rescue with his Cape Sounio & Temple of Poseidon tour. A prompt response, he let us know when he would be arriving and then gave us an afternoon of pure fun. Story telling, sightseeing, coffee of course, restaurant recommendations, huge yachts, Gods, lakes - and then the temple of course. My husband and I were coming to Greece a day early for a prearranged vacation package and decided to splurge and for a private tour. Nikos was the perfect guide for us!!! From our initial interactions via the app, Nikos was very responsive and made great suggestions for our personalized tour. We requested Nikos picked us up from the airport to begin the tour and he was standing there waiting even though our flight was early and we only had carryon luggage! Nikos had a comfortable and clean car that he used to drive us to sites. We went to the Ancient Theater in Thorikos before continuing to the Temple of Poseidon in Sounion. We continued the day with a beach walk and visit to Lake Vouliageni. We wrapped with an incredible sea side lunch before Nikos drive us to our hotel in Athens. Nikos was full of historical and antidotal information about the sites and Greek culture. This was simply the best tour we have ever been on. All of that was made possible because of our guide for the afternoon, John. We had an amazing time with Nikolas on our Athens day tour. He took us to a local beach where we were the only tourists. We love getting the chance to experience real culture in the places that we visit. We then got to enjoy lunch at a cute, local restaurant. The food was delicious! My wife and I took a 3 week vacation visiting 6 countries and 11 cities, and every time we travel, We love using the withlocals app to book most of our tours. This tour was an absolute treat. We were immersed in the ways of the locals with Manos. No slick touristy jargon just authentic Greek vibes. His knowledge of his home city and of Greece overall seemed limitless. We traveled around the coast and saw gorgeous beaches and ate at two brilliant but different restaurants. An upscale place with a view to die for, and a seaside tavern with amazing fresh food. We were a group of four adults and Ioannis took us on a private tour of Sounio and Temple of Poseidon. Ioannis made our tour entertaining and interesting! He was very knowledgeable of the area and explained everything in an way easy to understand. When he was driving us back to our hotel, he took us to some interesting places and he even gave us some goodies from a Michelin star bakery. Nice touch!!! Thomas was very nice and showed us cool spots but was exhausting to be around. I don’t think we got the value we would have hoped given the time and cost we put into this experience. I struggled with whether or not I wanted to post this review, but it has been such an unfortunate memory that I felt it needed to be shared. There were multiple faults with Thomas that made the experience tough, as detailed below. Thomas’s driving was erratic and made our group nauseous. Thomas also talked a LOT even when we were trying to enjoy a quiet moment, and would interrupt us mid convo our while we ere having individual 1:1s among ourselves. Most of his comments were repetitive without getting to the point, so it was exhausting to hear him talk. At the restaurant, he tried to order for our group even though we had picky eaters in our group (and we were paying for it…) He ordered items to the server that we would not eat, and a member of my party had to ask to remove the items after. I’m not sure why he thought he knew what we were going to order because we were discussing the menu without him. The whole experience we felt rushed, as he kept telling us the times we needed to arrive at the temple — at no point were we delayed or even close to being delayed. We felt rushed at the spots along the coastline. At times he would repeat what we were about to do and deadlines and we seemed to spend more time doing that than actually exploring and seeing the cape for ourselves. We were looking forward to getting back to the hotel ASAP due to these experiences and did not enjoy our last night in Greece the way we had hoped. Exhausting trip, not to be remembered

He tailored our tour to what we needed--buying another suitcase, getting coffee, staying away from crowds, & getting us to Cape Sounion before it closed (the hike was really worth it!). Traveling down to the Temple we heard many local stories and stopped at several places that only a local would know about. Nikos took us to a traditional restaurant for an early dinner before heading to The Temple of Poseidon. We had some time so we went through a small town and then to a nature preserve. Originally we were trying to make timing for sunset but decided to leave early because sun went behind a cloud. Nikos was truly amazing. Before the tour, he communicated very efficiently and we knew exactly where he would collect us from and was there right on time. Nikos picked us up from our hotel and drove to the Temple of Poseidon in Cape Sounion. On the way to the Cape, we stopped by a quaint town for some snacks, Lake Vouliagmeni and a beach in Keratea. It was a scenic drive along the coast. Nikos is very knowledgeable and answered all our inquiries. We arrived at the Temple just in time for the sunset. After the Temple, Nikos drove us to Lavrion for dinner. Lavrion is a beautiful town that we would like to revisit if ever we come back to Greece!
