Charming Zakopane & Tatra Mountains Private Day Trip in Krakow - 38965226daa1a28fa0c476e5fd29bbe4

Zakopane, the skiing capital of Poland, is located in a valley surrounded by Tatran peaks, alpine meadows, and clear mountain streams. Would you like to visit it?

On this private day trip, you'll get a chance to see some fabulous mountain landscapes and also to get to know the rich culture of the Tatra Highlanders. Visit Zakopane and see its old wooden architecture built in a unique style. Jaszczurowka is one of the best examples of the local Zakopane style in arts and architecture, and you'll find out how it was built only from wood without using any nail.

During this tour, you will see the Gubałówka hill with a spectacular view of the Tatra mountains. You will get there by cable car. In the center, you will walk through the main Kropowki street with numerous regional products, the local market, and many restaurants. You will also taste Oscypek - traditional smoked sheep cheese. Oscypek is usually produced in Bacowka, a shepherds shelter and you will have the chance to see a couple of such mountain shelters.

Zakopane and the Tatra Mountains is a perfect place to visit during all seasons. So, join me on this private day trip, and I will show you the beauty of South Poland!

We had a marvellous experience with Bartek. He helped us design an itinerary that involved many different experiences (which we wanted) and then was great at sharing local knowledge & stopping off in slightly off the beaten track places (which we loved). Definitely recommend him. SharynExceptional Tour Guide

This part of Poland, south of Krakow into Zakopane and the Tatra Mountains, is beautiful all on its own. But when you have Bartek, a very friendly and knowledgeable tour guide, showing you all his favorite places, it’s magical. Highly recommend this tour. Beautiful sights and great experience!

Our trip to Zakopane with Bartek was terrific. Highlight was the hike through the Tatra National Park. The cheese tasting was lovely and the ride up the cable car was a great way to see the mountains. We also stopped in a traditional little village to have a look around. Bartek was knowledgable and very accomodating, he even helped book our restaurant for dinner for when we returned to Krakow. Would definitely recommend visiting Zakopane with Bartek as your guide!Great day trip

I highly recommend taking a tour or a trip with Bartek. He was warm, punctual, and very knowledgable. He picked my partner and I up from our hotel and drove us to a hiking trail in the Tatras mountains. The ride was very pleasant and we immediately felt at home and comfortable with Bartek. Once we embarked upon our hiking trip, we felt as if we were hanging out with an old friend who was sharing with us information about the area as well as casual conversation and laughter. After reaching the top of the hike and stopping for lunch (Bartek kindly translated the menu for us and spoke with the staff in Polish), we headed back down to the car. Bartek then took us to a funicular gondola with sweeping views of the mountain range; he gave us time to ourselves to ride up, shop around, and ride down. He very generously offered us as much time as we would like and encouraged us not to rush. He also helped us secure dinner reservations by calling several recommended places on our behalf. We were truly sad to say goodbye to Bartek when he dropped us back off at our hotel because we had such a pleasant and comfortable experience. I HIGHLY recommend taking a trip with Bartek and enjoying his peaceful energy, wealth of knowledge, and generosity. 5 stars!!Incredible day with Bartek!

We had a wonderful day with Bartek! We stopped at a small village with unique wooden houses and got out and walked around. Then we visited a home where they made smoked cheese, which we roasted over an open fire and ate with cranberry jam. Delicious! Served with tastes of 2 flavors of homemade vodka. Then a wonderful 10-mile hike to Zakopane, which was so beautiful. Bartek was very courteous and informative. Highly recommend having him as your guide!Awesome hike to Zakopane

We had a very interesting tour with Bartek through the jewish quarter, the area of the jewish ghetto and the Schindler factory. He was very friendly, accommodating, and a wealth of knowledge. Going through the factory museum with Bartek made the experience much easier than reading all of the displays ourselves considering how many people were there. He stopped and explained the exhibits and answered questions as we went which was very helpful. Very interesting

It was nice to explore the Jewish history of Krakow with Bartek. As he knows a lot about this topic, he guided me along memorial sites, places of resistance against the German occupations, the Schindler Factory and the (off topic but very pleasant) best ice-cream store in Krakow. An impressive, inspiring and pleasant tour for anyone who is interested to learn about the Jewish history of Krakow.Nice and inspring evening walk

Bartek made our journey to Auschwitz very informative. He was organised, very friendly and very knowledgeable about Krakow and Auschwitz, but also Poland overall. We learned a lot. Bartek also organised for us a private guide at Auschwitz Birkenau who was excellent, with a vast knowledge of the site, and responding to all our questions. I would highly recommend Bartek as a guide to this tour as well as other tours!Great guide and tour

Bartek organised a fantastic full day trip for us to Auschwitz/ Birkenau and the Salt mines. We were picked up at our hotel, driven to Auschwitz where he had organised an amazing guide, Bertha for us. Bertha is incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, respectful and answered the many many questions we had patiently and thoroughly. Though so confronting and uncomfortable Bertha tackled the hard issues brilliantly. Bartek then took us to a restaurant for lunch and to the salt mines and back to our hotel. It was a very well organised day - would highly recommend.Fantastic day with Bartek

Bartek gave an excellent tour of the Krakow Ghetto and Schindler's factory. While it was a three hour tour, Bartek was able to cover an amazing amount of materials explaining the growth of the city, the commercial and social life as well as going into great deal about the fate of the Jews in the area before, during and after the war. Perhaps the most extraordinary piece was the visit to Schindler's factory. The factory has been converted into a museum and is chock full of memorabilia and artifacts starting in the early 30's and going all the way till the end of the way in the later 40's. Without Bartek's help, we definitely would have overlooked the most important pieces of the exhibit. He moved us a long at a solid pace, drawing our attention to the most salient displays. Without that guidance we would have never made it through in an hour and a half. Bartek is soft spoken and thoughtful. He's been conducting tours for several years and brings a weatlh of knowledge to his work. He's intent on answering personal questions and bringing this terribly period of time in Krakow history to life for his visitors. I highly recommend Bartek as a tour guide.Excellent Tour of Schindler's Factory

Our private tour of Auschwitz on 6/2/23 was a great experience. Unfortunately, Bartek was unable to guide us personally, due to a family bereavement. However, he organised an excellent visit for us, including transport to and from Krakow and another excellent local guide, Berta. The transport was perfect, with an on-time pickup from our hotel, in an air-conditioned Mercedes Vito. We had been concerned about the length of the day, given the February cold. However, Peter, the driver, waited at Auschwitz, in case we wanted to return early to Krakow. Berta was a great guide, very knowledgeable, and clearly had some family history around the the events of 1940-45. She brought our experience to life, and we can't praise her highly enough. She even gave us a lift in her car, rather than having to take the shuttle bus between Auschwitz and Birkenau. I had visited Auschwitz 15 years before, but without a guide, and having a good local guide made a huge difference to our experience.Private Auschwitz Tour on 6 Feb 2023

Bartek did an excellent job accommodating our tight schedule and customized our tour of Krakow. He was a wealth of knowledge and had very good English speaking ability. He also provided a great recommendation for a restaurant where we were able to experience some fabulous traditional Polish food. He also made arrangements for a private tour of Aushwitz. We would definitely go to him again on our next visit to Krakow and highly recommend himGreat Tour with Bartek

We were a party of two. Bartek customized a daytrip for us, as we wanted to visit both Auschwitz and the Salt Mines in one day. He picked us up at 7:30 am, and we arrived Auschwitz by 9:00 am. He had organized a private tour with a guide, and it was wort it. Very nice to start the tour so early in yhe morning, before it got to crowded. The tour covered both Auschwitz 1 and Auschwitz 2 (Birkenau). The he took us to a local restaurant an we had lunch - tried different polish dishes. Then we drove to Wieliczka, wher we walked around in the town before we had the tour in the Salt Mines. We were back in Old Town Krakow by 7:00 pm. We had a lovely day with Bartek. He was very knowledgeable Recommended!A very nice day with Bartek

Highly recommend using Bartek. He picked us up a few minutes early and chatted to us all the way to Auschwitz. Once there he escorted us in so we knew where to go and he then picked us up at a moments notice when we were finished. He had many stories to tell and the whole experience was made better by him. Bartek is fantastic!

Bartek made our Krakow experience in Poland much more fulfilling, informative and relaxing than if we hadn't connected with him through withlocals.com. He is knowledgeable and is able to put the women painters of Zalipie in a historical context (convincing Communist officials to bring electricity and better roads to the area); explaining the history of Nowa Huta, it's Communist foundation, the Solidarity movement and it's post communist history; or the frescos of the Cistercian monastery in Mogila all in a way that is easily understood. He facilitated our tours, contacting the right people to make the tour more complete and translating to literally open doors to new experiences. Without his help we would have learned and enjoyed the trip much less. He kept us in touch throughout the planning process and didn't have trouble meeting our requests. He is open, friendly, interested in our lives beyond the tour and I think honest. He was helpful in parts of our trip to Poland not related to the tour. His English is excellent and he is quick to smile and joke. Our trips involved driving, for Zalipie over an hour, and it was comforting and less worrisome for someone who knew the route to drive. . We would highly recommend him as an excellent, knowledgeable and friendly tour guide.Tour of Zalipie, Nowa Huta and Mogila

Bartek really made our visit to Krakow worthwhile. We traveled to Zakopane area, showed us around. He was considerate to the family and paid attention to everyone. Proud of his country and has a view of the bigger picture. We enjoyed our time with Bartek and he had no hesitation to help us out with our unexpected questions regarding to our stay in Krakow and trip back home. So many thanks to Bartek, he is a fantastic local guide!

The guide just gives you a ride to and fro to the salt mine (the one I selected online) He buys you a ticket at the entrance and that's it ! Rest of the tour of salt mine is done by the museum itself. Essentially it's a taxi ride that will be far cheaper if you visit on your own/ by taxi or uber! Beware ! It's a Ripoff at 150 euros Its sad

Our 2 teenage girls and us had an amazing time with Bartek exploring the mountain villages and kayaking on the border of Slovakia. The drive was scenic and we stopped at the castle of a 13th century Hungarian prince. When we arrived we decided to get a snack before kayaking and found a tiny little shop in a local villagers home where we bought local kielbasa, bread and cheese. We then kayaked through the stunning scenery and quaint villages and finished with a local dinner on the river. Wonderful Day on the kayak trip!

Zalipie is a bit off the beaten path but three friends and I are glad we visited this colorful village. Time permitting, visitors to Krakow would do well to add Zalipie to their itineraries. Bartek is an outstanding guide. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with him. He is a personable young man, a lively conversationalist, and very knowledgeable. I recommend him highly. This was my first experience with him. Based upon my time with Bartek, I would book the tour with him againFlower village in Krakow is a true hidden gem
