We changed our tour so in stead of taking Day trip to Essaouira Redouan guided us trough Medina. It was very interesting to follow him around the area he showed us things that only locals could find and gave a lot of historical informations about the places we went. Learning about the history

Unfortunately, our experience with Hassan on this trip wasn't satisfactory as it didn't match the description. He simply took us to Essaouira, where he just dropped us off and we were basically given a few hours of "free time" while he disappeared, instead of the promised guided tour to "get to know some of the less walked paths in Essaouira with some great hidden gems and alternative stories that only a local knows about" (as per the tour description page). We loved Essaouira and it's definitely worth a visit, but without a guide, we felt kind of lost (since we hadn't made any plans and left our paper guide home). After all, that's why we had booked this tour. That being said, after reaching out to Withlocals, they did make this right for us, which we very much appreciate. If you book this tour with Hassan, I recommend you agree up front with him on what exactly will be included. Not as described

Hassan ging de ganse dag mee op stap met ons ( we waren er vrij van allen te gaan of vergezeld door Hassan), maar het is een aanrader Hassan mee te nemen door de kleine straatjes van Essaouira. Hij toonde ons de toeristische kant en dan ook de lokale kant. We gingen naar de haven en wandelden door de Soueks .... Honger? Dorst? Nood aan een plas-stop ? Hassan zoekt de properste zaken uit ! We namen een lunch met uitzicht op zee....... HEEL LEKKER ! Hassan is een leuke man en houdt van eens een grapje tussendoor ! En is een uitstekende fotograaf !! Een aanrader !!! We had a great day trip with Hassan to Essaouira from Marrakech. He was very flexible in terms of timing, and we could go at our own pace during the visit, which was nice. He showed us around the town and was open to any questions we might have had. However, the restaurant he took us to for lunch I would not recommend. It was overpriced, not that good, and the staff were rudely demanding us to tip at the end. I would recommend this tour, it's definitely worth it! Day trip to Essaouira

We spent the day with Hassan on the private tour to Essaouira. Although the trip took 2 &1/2 hours each way, the time went quickly because Hassan conversed fluently in English about his background, his experiences in Marrakesh, and historical events in Morocco. An educated and interesting individual, Hassan was very knowledgeable about Moroccan affairs, as well as global events. He had a great sense of humor, and was very accommodating to our needs and interests. Hassan effortlessly negotiated traffic throughout the trip in his car which was comfortable and immaculately maintained. We did a day trip to Essaouira with Omar. He is great person and we had wonderful conversation and very good driving. Omar is very conversational and we talked of many things about cultures etc... also we enjoyed music together. I wish we would have done this earlier in our visit as I would have done another trip with Omar. Also, he had many tips for us in dealing with the sometimes over pushy Marrakech sales people. Omar did several fun stops for us on the way including the Tree Goats, super fun! Another local guide who was very nice joined us in Essaouira who shared history and led us to a great cafe for a fresh fish lunch. Omar was very open to whatever we needed on our tour. We had some singing and laughing also which really ads to a good day. If I come back to Morocco, I will look to Omar to take a multi day tour as I can't imagine anyone better to share time and local knowledge with. Thank you so much Omar!Wonderful Person and Guide

We enjoyed our day with Hassan. He and a driver (also Hassan) took us from Marrakech to Essaouira. Along the way we visited the famous tree climbing goats and an argan oil cooperative. In Essaouira, Hassan did a nice job of leading us around the city, including the Port/waterfront, the fort, and the old Jewish quarter, we had a nice lunch of that day’s catch along the promenade. The only thing that would have been better would have been more history and information about what we were seeing. All in all, a good experience and we’d recommend Hassan. A nice day in Essaouira

We had a great day with Omar as our guide visiting Essaouira. He was a great driver and we enjoyed some great music which we chose on YouTube using his cell phone. He's a music lover like us. Unfortunately Omar was not allowed to tour us around Essaouira, and instead a local guide had to do the tour. That was too bad as we found him uninterested, he was more interested in his cellphone. Our trip with Omar was wonderful from the beginning. There was a mix-up (our fault) about where to meet, and Omar was kind enough to come meet us at a landmark we knew so we didn't have to worry about getting lost trying to find him. I was traveling with my father, who can be quite talkative, and Omar was accommodating of him the whole time, answering his many questions and giving us his views on the history, current events, and values of Morocco. He's a great ambassador for his country, and I'd encourage thinking about booking with him to go for it. Be prepared for a full day and wear good walking shoes. For first timers this is an excellent way to feel the culture and learn some fun facts. Omar and Hassan are excellent guides. Hassan was an excellent host on our day trip to the coast. On time pickup from our hotel and tailored our day perfectly with an added bonus to be back on time to pickup the rest of the family up from the airport and drop them at their Riad up an alley in the Medina. He even called ahead to arrange for their Riad to send a rep to meet them from where he could drop them in the car. Great day

We had a great trip to Essaouira with Hassan! He did a couple of stops on the way, so we can see the climbing goats, the camels and the place where the argan oil is made. He also took us to a very nice restaurant for lunch, which was by the beach! He explained many things about the city, the country and the morrocan culture in general, which was also excellent! Overall, we had a brilliant experience visiting Essaouira for the day from Marrakech. However, there were two little things which could have made it perfect. At the very beginning of the journey, an overview of the day would have been welcomed. We roughly knew what we had booked but it would have been great to get the overview again with more detail. At our first stop, we were left to work out how to order, what to order. There were options that looked great but we are new to Morocco and did not know what things were. We would have appreciated some explanation. Other than these things, we felt we were in very good hands. Everything was on time. We have used guides/drivers on many occasions on different travels. Well, I can say that Hassan ranks high, not only as a driver but more importantly as a guide, travel adviser and great human being in general. He is genuinely genuine! No false pretences. Needless to say that his drives well in a choatic city like Marrakech. We felt comfortable with him. Equally important, he was quite knowledgeable about whatever we threw at him and I mean not only travel related. Hassan has been around the block a couple of times and I mean this in an endearing way. His tips for travel in and around Morrocco were invaluable. You name it he can organise it. Hassan is like a chameleon. He quickly susses out the client and adjusts accordingly. So if you are in a chatty mood, he will be chatty. If you prefer privacy, he will be no intrusion. So to summarise, I spent a great time with him. And surely we will use his skills and experience again on another visit to Morocco. Amazing day with Hassan

On the way we made a few stops - a lovely Argon oil business, a roadside attraction (Goats up in Argon trees!) and a Berber Market. We loved it! Omar was a terrific guide and driver and he was personable and knowledgeable. He arrived to pick us up at our Riad on time and we were off to Essaouira. The car was roomy and comfortable. We made a few stops on the way which helped to break up the journey. He helped us navigate through the craziness of the souk and told us all about the different types of vendors. Omar was a great host. He took our group of 3 people on a private day trip to Essaouira from Marrakech. He took time to really understand our needs and preferences and took us to the local experiences we'd been looking for. He has great knowledge of the region and shared our love of food. We never met Mouhssine because he sent a replacement driver without telling us in advance. The replacement driver was excellent, very pleasant and spoke good English. He handed us off to another tour guide in Essaouira who was boring. The Essaouira tour guide then took us to a restaurant on the beach. The food was not good and 3 of the 4 members of our family got food poisoning from that lunch which ruined the rest of our trip to Morocco. The day before this trip, another With Locals tour guide did not show up at all for our scheduled tour of the medina in Marrakech. I chose Mouhssine reading the other reviews on With locals...and I wasn't disappointed. Pleasant man with so much knowledge. There wasn't a thing he didn't know. Even though we were running late it didn't stop Mouhsinne making sure we got the tagines and Moroccan gifts that we wanted. Be sure to ask him about the variety of morrocan music he has in his car. Mouhssine was absolutely amazing. He took us on a day long tour from Marrakech to Essaouira. He let us plan our day, giving us tips along the way. We were able to see the infamous goats in the trees on our way to Essaouira. Mouhssine took us through the fishing port and the souk. He is an excellent story teller! After looking for several daytrips to see Essaouira, we decided to book a tour with Withlocals! And that was a very good decision! It was very nice to get away from beautiful Marrakech for one day, to see the nice, relaxing charms of Essaouira. Mousshine was a very pleasant guide and while he drives his comfortable car, he will give you many information. We felt very safe and we could ask him everything we wanted to know and he informed us not only about Marrakech and Essaouira, but we also talked about the Ramadan and music. In Essaouira and on the road to get there, he shows you nice spots. The communication with Mousshine and Withlocals was very good, and gave us a reliable feeling. I looked at a number of tours of Essaouira before selecting the "With Locals" tour. The "With Locals" tour cost more than the others, but as a solo traveler, I wanted a guide to show me around Essaouira, not just a driver who would drop me there for the day. Mouhssine was an excellent guide. He picked me up on time (and communicated with me regularly, via Messenger, regarding trip details in advance of the pick-up), was very informative about sights along the way and in Essaouira. As independent travellers we were looking for a reliable and knowledgeable guide who could drive us from Marrakesh to Essaouira. Mouhssine exceeded all of our expectations.
