We spent a day with Sofia touring the beautiful city of Evora. Sofia picked us up at our rental in Lisbon right on time and drove us through Portugal's beautiful countryside giving us interesting information along the way. We really enjoyed the sights she showed us and had a wonderful meal inside the walled city. I'm so glad we decided to leave Lisbon for the day as there is so much to see outside it. Sofia is really knowledgeable and such a delight to spend time with. I felt like we had a new friend by the end of the day. A beautiful day in Evora!

Sónia was an amazing tour guide with lots of knowledge and factoids about Lisbon and Portugal. It was wonderful to see Lisbon by foot and experience the food delicacies. We took our two boys (11 yo & 3 yo) on the food tour and although adventures eaters, didn't partake in about half of the foods or in the alcohol tastings. We thoroughly enjoyed Sónia and she was wonderful with the boys, this tour would have been better if their was a discounted rate for kids. I'm glad we did the tour as a family, but the price-value rating is low for having to pay full price for kids.Wonderful Family Portugal Food Experience!

My wife and I spent a full day with Luis visiting Fatima, Nazare, and Obidos. Luis has a warm and engaging personality, and he made us feel welcome from the start. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of Portugal, including its history and culture, and he is articulate and eloquent in sharing his knowledge. His English is excellent, and he also speaks fluent Portuguese and Spanish. He was sensitive to our needs and he customized the tour to our preferences. He gave us 9 1/2 hours, over and above the promised 8. In addition he gave us valuable advice to help us plan the remainder of or vacation. Luis ist ein sehr sympathischer und erfahrenerGuide, den man vollständig vertrauen kann, der seine Gäste freundlich und emphatisch empfängt und uns mit seinem hervorragenden Wissen durch Lissabon geführt hat. 3 Stunden inklusive Mittagspause reichen leider nicht aus, die Stadt ausgiebig zu erkunden. Ganz allgemein gesprochen, sollte man die Mittagspause zusätzlich buchen, damit man wirklich 3 Stunden Zeit für die Führung hat. Ansonsten können wir Luis wirklich sehr empfehlen und würden ihn bei einem zukünftigen Besuch in der schönen Stadt Lissabon erneut buchen. We had a lovely morning walk with Rita exploring the neighborhoods of Lisbon. She did a nice job providing a historical overview of the city sprinkled with general Portuguese history. We got to see many important buildings and locations throughout the tour, which helped us understand the city better. Rita was a wealth of knowledge, she had answers to all our questions, and made it feel personal. Towards the end, she treated us to a delicious pastel de Nata. My wife and I booked an 8-hour day with Sofia for the 2nd of our 2-day stay in Sintra. Sofia met us at our hotel, we jumped in her car and off we went to learn & see as much as we could in one day. Being a Sintra native, Sofia knew the city and its environs intimately and spoke energetically as we drove. Our first stop was at the grounds of a hotel that had a wonderful overlook of the area. Leaving there, our next stop was Monseratte Palace which has extensive grounds and gardens and the Palace was a beautiful building. Unfortunately, the building was not used for many years before becoming a museum and virtually all of the furnishings were sold via auctions. We spent considerable time in the palace going from one empty room to another. And while Sofia was very knowledgeable about the Palace, there was very little to see. After a snack at the shop on the Palace grounds, we took another pretty ride to the Capuchin Convent, used by monks for centuries, but now a museum that depicted the incredible spartan life these religious men lived. It was very interesting and Sofia knew lots of things that she shared about the convent, including the many nights that she and her fellow girl scouts spent sleeping there as children. To me, this stop was was very interesting even though each room we visited was also empty. But, unlike the Palace, these empty rooms realistically portrayed the strict and hard life the monks lived. Our final stop was a very nice restaurant on the coast overlooking the beach, surfers and the coastline. With the day ending, Sofia drive us back to our hotel where we said our goodbyes. Overall, it was an enjoyable and informative day but we would have preferred to see more places rather than spending almost our entire day at the limited number of places we visited. I agreed with Sofia that the Peña Place was not worth the time because of the crowds but there are many other places in & around Sintra that I suspect are very worthwhile seeing but we never had the chance nor time. I think a better approach than seeing two places in depth would be to see a number of places, agreed upon before the tour date, so that the clients could choose those places of most interest to them. This is not to say that Sofia did a less than stellar job. She was outstanding for what we saw, but I wish we could have seen more places.A good day with Sofia

Luis is very knowledgeable about his country, very personable and easy to talk to. He picked us up at our hotel promptly at 9AM and away we went. We had a great time visiting Fatima, Óbidos, and Nazaré. Luis customized the tour to include a stop at Batalha because of our interest in historical sites. Lunch was very pleasant in Nazaré at a lovely seafood restaurant next to the beach. We had a great time, didn't feel at all rushed, discussed many, many topics, as one does when spending 9 hours together. I would definitely recommend Luis to any of our fellow travelers. My wife and I met up with Sónia for a 3 hour walking tour of the highlights of Lisbon. She was very knowledgeable, personable and had a wonderful sense of humor! Loved hearing about her background and how she came to be a With Locals favorite guide. 😊😊 We walked through a couple of different neighborhoods, learned the history of the different monuments, churches and squares, as well as the history of the revolution. We had our first (but definitely not our last!) pastel de nata at her favorite pastry shop (we went back again on Saturday!) and sampled the Ginjinha (cherry liqueur) which was strong but tasty! We had a wonderful time seeing a small part of beautiful Lisbon thanks to Sónia! Great afternoon with Sónia!

Despite it being a rainy morning, Sónia made it a fine experience through her warm and engaging manner. It was like being out with a friend--a very knowledgeable friend. She gave us the history of the city and also a good primer on the culture of Lisbon. We loved how she wove typical Portuguese sayings into her explanations. We were delighted with her choices of places to visit and how she let us manage how long we wanted to linger.
