My wife and enjoyed two very different, but both enjoyable Hong Kong trips with Angel. The first was the night markets & street food, that we undertook a few hours after landing from London, so a great way to start exploring this great City. The second to Lantau island, was a complete contrast to the city. Angel was a great guide very knowledgeable, but also great at prioritising what to see and when. Thank you!Two great trips eith Angel

Having a good time with Cosmo

From the moment we started communicating with Cosmo we knew he was a "Local" and loved what he was doing. Meeting him in Lantau Island we started our journey on the cable car up to the Buddha. An amazing 25 minute ride in comfort up to the top of the mountain - wow Hong Kong looks amazing from there. Then a leisurely walk around the summit and into the beautiful temple and then up the 268 steps to the Buddha. What a great story of dedication and resilience in building this monument. We then boarded a bus and went into a little fishing village which was quaint and "set back in time". Going for a little boat ride around the waterways and then out to the sea looking at the amazing structure of the bridge (that goes underwater) and looking for dolphins. Back on land we stopped for looking around the village and having some lunch. After this heading back to the bus and down the hill, like a local, finishing back at our starting point. A full day of wonder and history. Cosmo is interesting and knows the history of the area. Thanks for a great day! Highly recommend.A fabulous day with Cosmo

My wife and I and 2 friends toured Lantau Island with Edward. Edward is very personable and interesting and we all had a very good time with him. He was very accommodating to my wife’s crustacean allergy. The fishing village was especially interesting. The protests required us to change our travel plans to meet up with Edward but he found us quickly and off we went. The Big Buddha was truly impressive and the fishing village was fascinating. Edward was a great host and guide.Great tour!

My husband and I had a wonderful time with Ronnie (Sum Pui). He was engaging, fun to talk to, and very knowledgeable about both the current and historical aspects of Hong Kong. Throughout the tour, he also shared personal stories about growing up in the city, which gave us a deeper and more intimate understanding of Hong Kong’s culture and everyday life. He guided us around the city and took us to places we likely wouldn’t have discovered on our own. At the end of the tour, he even recommended a fantastic dim sum restaurant and helped us navigate the menu, showing us what and how to order since it was our first time. If you get the chance to book a tour with Ronnie, we highly recommend it!Fun day exploring Hong Kong

I had 24 hours in Hong Kong and I'm glad I had Sum and Casi to show me parts of the city in the short time I had. I would not have discovered the areas and foods without them. Overall I had a great time soaking in the sights. Sum gave me some tips of places to check out the next morning before my flight - the dim sum place he suggested was life changing. Had a unique opportunity to set up a personalized tour with Angel. I had an 8 hour layover in Hong Kong and Angel was able to bring me to all the instagramable (well most commonly seen on instagram spots) and give me a local's overview of Hong Kong. I've been here a few times, but never on a solo trip, and it was a good stop over before my larger trip. Having a local tell me about everything in Hong Kong lately is always a good way to approaching and seeing things outside of a tourist's point of view. Local Views and a View All over Hong Kong

I cannot overstate how amazing our full coverage tour with Sherman was!! First and foremost, Sherman’s communication was excellent before we had even met her - asking if we had any preferences and advising us to arrive hungry! The tour began in Hong Kong Island and Sherman took us to a traditional Dim Sum restaurant that you would never find if you weren’t a local. It was seriously the best Dim Sum ever!
Throughout the tour, Sherman took the time to find out where we had already been and tailored the tour accordingly. Her knowledge of Hong Kong history was incredible and she drew on stories of her upbringing to really bring the place to life. She had prepared pre-loaded Octopus cards for us to make transport so much easier and we got to travel around the city by various means included the Ding Ding and Star Ferry!
The tour concluded in the night markets of Kowloon, with Sherman helping us order dinner before we parted ways. Even after the tour, Sherman continued to communicate with us to make recommendations on hikes and restaurants.
Outstanding!! We would award Sherman 11 stars if we could! Best tour ever with Sherman

We loved our time with Sherman in Hong Kong. She has a lot of historical knowledge and relates it to her own family's history. We saw a lot in 3 days! Landau Island was very special. Kowloon and Hong Kong island. Terminating with watching the symphony of lights from the the Dukling Junket (wow). Sherman taught us the MRT subway system, to tge point we felt comfortable getting around on our own . THANK-YOU so much Sherman. You are very special to us.Book with Sherman!

We were only in Hong Kong for a short 21 hour layover. Ronnie arranged a six hour tour for us to see all the highlights of Hong Kong. We did dim sum, ding ding tram, harbor, ferry cruise, long escalator, visited a local temple, municipal jail, and much much more. We were able to accomplish a lot in a short period of time, which is exactly what we wanted. Ronnie even picked us up directly from our hotel and came with us back to hotel to make sure sure we got an uber transport to the airport. He was a fantastic guide and would highly recommend.

Sum Pui was a fantastic, professional tour guide. Prompt, and very accessible via chat feature when we were having a long day, and unsure about exactly where to meet. He was knowledgeable about the city, and took us places we’d only heard mentioned in passing on the Hop On, Hop Off bus. He filled us in on the city’s colourful history, and was great about taking care of us when we needed to take the ferry from Hong Kong back to Kowloon. Magical Evening Indeed!

We were a group of six ‘seniors’ on a private two day tour and Sum Pui was mindful of us climbing stairs. He explained that he tried to find ways that we may not encounter too many stairs. Sum Pui was very personable and knowledgable. He explained the history of the places that he took us to.
He incorporated the places that we wanted to see and also showed us things that we should not
miss while in Hong Kong. Both days he took us to restaurants to experience authentic dishes.
It was fun seeing the city by many modes of transportation. In summary: I highly recommend
Sum Pui to everyone wanting to explore and get to know more about Hong Kong. Sum Pui never rushed you and was always on time.Fabulous tour of Hong Kong with Sum Pui!

On a recent trip to Hong Kong, we were looking for a tour to get acclimated with the city. After having good With Locals experiences on previous tours, I opted to purchase the Full Coverage Hong Kong City Tour. Having read his positive reviews, we chose to book with Cosmo.
Prior to the tour, there was minimal, but effective communication. We were extremely appreciative of the offer for the meeting point at our hotel.
Prior to the tour, I made an inquiry about where to find great seafood in Hong Kong, and it appears that Cosmo interpreted it as a request to take a form of the Aberdeen Fishermen Cultural Tour with Delicious Dim Sums Lunch tour, instead of the Full Coverage Hong Kong City Tour.
He met us promptly at 10:00am, with absolutely no energy. The hope was that as the day went on, he would get more energy, but he never did. He made attempts at small talk, but seemed uncomfortable and unsure of how to properly engage with our small group of three people (two were seniors).
At no point did he advise that we would veer off from the suggested Full Coverage Hong Kong City Tour itinerary on the website nor did he ask us what we were interested in seeing during the 6-hour tour.
The service went from a tour to a transfer service from one place to the next. There was very little history shared and even less interaction.
Cosmo often seemed distant and appeared uninterested in proactively providing any historical and/or interesting facts.
Although we went to Repulse Bay, Stanley Market and Aberdeen for lunch (not a tour around the harbor), there were no hidden gems or special treat (as stated on the tour’s website).
The transfer service really turned bad during lunch (the food was great, the guide was not). We were advised that one of his classmates sold seafood at the market. We went to the stall, chose and purchased items. When asked about the cost to cook the food, Cosmo advised that he did not know and it was based on whoever was available to cook.
When we went upstairs, he spoke to one of the cooks and after going back and forth about how the food should be prepared, he advised that each plate would cost $80 HKD each to cook. We had four plates, but may have gotten more or less had we known the amount for preparation. There was no offer to have any side items to complement the seafood and at one point, raised his voice and asked for me to sit down because he was hungry.
He sat at the table with us and when the food came, proceeded to begin eating without making a single contribution to the meal. Normally, we would have welcomed the guide to dine, chat and learn about one another, but I was appalled that he would dine with us after being so disconnected.
He advised that he was born and raised in Aberdeen and eats at the fish market at least once a month. When I asked him why he seemed unsure about the food preparation costs, he just starred at me without saying a word. Cosmo then stated that he was getting a headache from having to translate, and excused himself to the restroom. Upon Cosmo’s return, one of the elderly men in the group got up to request an extra plate, but Cosmo told him to sit down. I was flabbergasted and made the decision to end the tour after lunch.
I do not know what Cosmo had planned for the last hour of the tour, perhaps it was a special treat, perhaps it was going to a see hidden gem, but due to his unprofessional, lackluster behavior, we will never know.
This was an instance of either the reviews may have been misleading or Cosmo was just having a bad day. Either way, I am disappointed in this purchase.
If you are looking for someone to simply assist with transportation between various sites during your visit to Hong Kong, then Cosmo is an excellent choice. However, if you are looking to learn about the city, culture and/or explore various landmarks, then consider selecting another guide and confirm the tour’s itinerary with the tour guide in advance.
Good luck!Guided Tour or Guided Transfer Service?

Ronnie (Sum Pui) was very thorough and knowledgeable about the history of Hong Kong island, focussed on the areas around Sheung Wan and Soho. We thoroughly enjoyed the explanations around the many stores selling fish products, the history of the 'ding ding', the traditions of yum cha (which we took part in) and the crossover between British colonial influence and Chinese history. Ronnie was very generous with his time and no time did we feel rushed. This did feel like a tour with a local and not what you would get on a tour bus.Sum Pui the enthusiast!!

Sherman was an amazing guide for our tour of Kowloon. We wanted to learn more about and visit neighborhoods outside of Hong Kong Island and the harbor, and couldn't have asked for a better guide for that. She grew up in Kowloon, so was able to not just share things about history, culture, and architecture, but also point out things from her childhood and share personal stories related to things we were learning.
Aside from having great local knowledge, she was friendly, funny, and clearly really excited to share Hong Kong with us. She also gave us lots of good recommendations.
I would 100% recommend anyone going to Hong Kong book a tour with her, and I'll definitely be looking to do more tours with her next time I'm in Hong Kong!

Throughly enjoyed our food tour with Sum Pui! The food choices were excellent and varied and were thoroughly enjoyed by all in our group! The “bonus” were the cultural sites that Sum Pui took us by including several temples, a quick tour of the original Hong Kong Prison, and a ride on the longest outdoor escalator in the world. Sum Pui was also more than willing to share his views on the development of modern Hong Kong as well as developments across the world. Sum, aka Ronnie, was a great tour guide! As a journalist for his other job he was able to give me a great explanation of the history of Hong Kong. We tried an authentic dim sum restaurant/ tea house that has one of the six remaining dim sum carts in Hong Kong. It was truly a place for locals and he explained every dish and the experience of yum cha. We walked the streets around Hong Kong island and he explained the dried food shops. He pointed out many things while we walked around and was very informative. He jokes a lot so make sure you have a sense of humor! We stumbled upon a tattoo shop as I was explaining how much I missed my dog and that I wanted a tattoo of him. I decided on the spot to get a tattoo there and luckily they had a time slot after the tour. He even stayed with me to keep me company during my tattoo! Thank you for such a great day and an experience I will never forget!! Gong hei fat choy! Fantastic Hong Kong tour!!

Sum Pui’s tour secrets of Kowloon promised to show us the othe, less glitzy side of Hong Kong, where ordinary people lived. Sun Pui is knowledgeable, energetic an devote to educating his guests on the complex social background of his hometown, of which he is justly proud.
He met guided us from the Marriott lobby to the MTR to a Kowloon’s San Wai estate housing in Shek Kip Mei Estate Hong Kong built in 1953 after a fire destroyed the neighborhood of migrants from the mainland. It’s been completely redeveloped and looks almost new. These housing estates built by the Brits in the 50s and 60s, and now in the process of renovation for select low income HK residents and merchants . Nearby, another older complex is being renovated and sits empty behind bar wire, surrounded construction sheds, a few scraps of forgotten or discarded laundry clinging to its balconies.
We then visited tht Tai Hang Estate, a w rise complex.
Its markets are vibrant and stocked with delicious vegetables and even some live chickens, frogs and fish. There are play yards, sports courts interspersed with the residences, which are midrise apartment blocks whose balconies are draped with drying laundry. The apartments and public spaces are inviting and well maintained, and in the shops and restaurants everything is half the price in subsidized Kowloon than in the Admiralty.
This subsidized enclave contrasts with its overcrowded, neighbor, where market rents are double for inferior flats, and the markets are more desperate: commerce trades in second hand shoes, obsolescent electronics, used power drills, it seems impossible, but the impoverished neighborhood seems safer than LA, or even Bangkok, and boasts dynamite noodle shops with Michelin street food accolades.
The Catholic church is surprisingly prominent in Hong Kong despite its British Protestant influences and mainland Chinese influences.
He pointed us to the Man Kei Card noodle shop where we enjoyed delicious noodles recommended by Michelin

Thanks for taking me, despite Chinese New Year, to the " other" side of Hongkong. In this tour do not expect the "beautiful" nor the "rich" side of the city you will see the everday live of migrant wokers and other lower income people who have a significant role to play in the city. Thanks for this important insight. The unknown Hongkong
