Luana Puccini conducted a private half-day tour of Ravenna for my wife and me. She put together a fantastic itinerary that lead us to the highlights of the town. She advised us on which train to take from Bologna to meet her in Ravenna and she met us at the train station and walked with us to the medieval center. Her knowledge and expertise was in great depth. She arranged a lunch for us at a local hotspot where we were able to have local cuisine specialties. We also enjoyed exchanging stories about our countries and culture with each other. The title says it all. Luana was knowledgeable, intelligent, thoughtful and sensitive to our needs. But for the extreme heat we could have spent much longer exploring Ravenna's magnificent cultural heritage. Luana freely gave of her expertise and welcomed questions, of which we had many. We had a wonderful time on our tour of Ravenna with Eletta. We met her at the train station in Bologna and took the train with her to Ravenna. On the train, she explained Italian history and how it related to what we saw. She bought all the tickets in advance and we were able to quickly move through any lines to see the beautiful mosaics. Eletta is an art professor and an expert in art history. She explained all of the dazzling artwork. There is no way that we could have navigated all of the sites on our own in one day. We had a delicious lunch at the beautiful market. She kindly helped us order, as most of the servers did not speak English. She also stopped twice for us to have a cappuccino. Somehow I got the date wrong but Riccardo was accomodating and waited for us. I do not know how someone can remember so much detail and present it in such an interesting way. The places he took us to were incredible and so much more interesting when the context is explained. He took us to an excellent fish cafe for lunch. We thought this was a great tour. We have done quite a few guided tours and this was a very strong one. The UNESCO-designated sites in Ravenna are really interesting and Luana was a terrific guide. She is very knowledgeable about the history and the art, and she was great company. In addition to showing us around the sites and giving us helpful context and background, she arranged for us to get lunch at a terrific restaurant. Overall, it was a delightful day.Fantastic Tour

We had a wonderful, educational day with Riccardo. He met us at the train station in Bologna and drove us in his car to Ravenna. He gave us a thorough but focused tour of the ancient sites—both in the center of the city and one on the outskirts of town. The tile work was beautiful and amazing. Riccardo helped us to focus on the most pertinent and interesting items. It would have been hard to do that on our own. We stopped with him for a small lunch of piadine on the square. All in all it was a wonderful day!! Busy day visiting Byzantium—in Ravenna!

Marco is larger then life, both in personality and stature. His knowledge of the food scence in Bologna and surrounding areas is matched with his love and passion for it. Lucky this is a walking tour, because we needed. Each meal was amazing. Marco was also adaptive with his itinerary, as we told him we had already done a city walking tour, so he took as to other locations in the city, which we didn't explore previously.I'm still full!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our food walking tour with Marco this week. Marco was an excellent guide providing us with a blend of information about regional produce and the history of Bologna. He is clearly someone who has a deep knowledge and love of local foods and wines. His manner was relaxed but his talk full of insight and humorous anecdotes whilst patiently answering our questions. The three hours of our tour passed quickly, and we particularly enjoyed the visits to the herb market where we tasted samples of balsamic vinegar and local hams, and the atmospheric Osteria Del Sole. Riccardo had a lot to say about everything and every place we visited from Bologna to Modena to the Acetaia for a balsamic vinegar tour and back to Bologna! He brought us to the market in Modena, the church and a great restaurant, UVA D’Oro where we had the best Tagliolini with truffles in a butter Parmesan sauce- over the top. He is knowledgeable and full of facts and details- he doesn’t skip a beat. Then we set out for Villa San Donnino where they make and process balsamic vinegar for a tasting. What a great day. If you are going to Bologna, be sure you book Riccardo for any day trip - you will love him!Great Day!

We signed up for a 3 hour tour of regional foods. What we got was a 2 hour tour. Frederick provided us with 5 pieces of meat and cheese each. We asked for some gluten free substitutions. Rather than provide gluten free pasta he served olives and crackers. For "regional" dessert he took us to a gelato shop. This was a cheap alternative to true Bolognese dessert. I requested to purchase some local items. He made excuses that they were not in season inspite of having seen them in stores. The whole experience seemed like a cheap rip off.Con Artist

Barbara directed us to the best restaurant for lunch,, Simoni, for a platter of cold cuts that was the best ever- she also told us where not to go! We signed up for this tour based on the advertised agenda and picked our guide based on reviews. The day of the tour we received a note that the guide and the location of the tour had been changed. That was not an issue. We met Frederick at the new spot and proceeded on the tour. He is very nice and has a lot of historical information to offer. We appreciated that, but since we had signed up for a food tour with 10 tastings and gelato at the end and were bringing our grandson, the itinerary was not what we wished for. We understood that he wanted to provide “quality over quantity”, but the experience was long and hard for us at the beginning because we did not ever stop for tastings. We finally arrived at the shop of Paolo, who was wonderful. We then had a small portion of lasagna and a platter of meats and cheeses along with a glass of wine. That was the tasting. Paolo did provide Nutella for our grandson. That was a hit with him, but again since we had paid the prices we did for the experience, we were disappointed with the reality. All in all an interesting experience, but not as advertised. Informative, but not as advertised

Luva was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable about the city of Bologna, its food and culture.
