May 6,2019... Spent 1/2 a day with Claudio with my travel partner exploring the Dutch Villages Volendam and Marken. He was very knowledgeable about the history and current affairs of Amsterdam, and presented the information in a non hurried fashion allowing for questions in between. Not only did we discuss the tour but talked of all sorts of things, it was like spending the day with a good friend. I would encourage everyone to book a tour with this good soul. If we could have requested the most knowledgeable (historical, current trends, political reasons and why it all fits to make Holland work today) guide we picked a winner in Marten. He couldn't have been more personable, knowledgeable and an extremely able communicator. We felt like old friends chatting about everything from our first handshake to our last goodbye. I can not say enough good about Claudio! From the very beginning of our reservation he was very helpful, replying to messages immediately and helping us feel at ease in the meeting spot/time since we were on a tight schedule. Then our flights were changed and we had to move dates, he was not obligated to accommodate but had the new date available, so we were all set. But Delta made our time in Amsterdam go from 9 hours to one hour so our tour was off. Through the entire process he was great, and we plan on a longer trip to Amsterdam in the future and hope he will be available! Thank you.Amazing Service

My father and I had a wonderful time with Claudio exploring the small towns of Volendam and Marken. We were there during the off season which allowed us to experience the town without a sea of other tourist’s. It is a beautiful place that you must experience for your self. We enjoyed walking through the old part of Amsterdam with focus on the pre-war Jewish neighborhoods. Martin has a strong command of history both local and global. He was able to contextualize a lot of what we were learning. We asked to end the tour at a particular time at or near the Anne Frank House. Martin accommodated us nicely with this.Informative

I had so much fun on this windmill and that factory cheese tour with Olga. She is very friendly and knowledgeable. I got to see the windmills and learn all about their history. I got to visit at Judge cheese factory and try all the different types of cheeses they had. I also got to see how wooden Dutch shoes are made (very cool). She was so polite by holding my bags when I wanted to take pictures, waiting for me to pick out souvenirs, waiting for me to enjoy some ice cream, and etc.. I almost twisted my ankle while walking with her and she literally stopped me from falling on the ground. She was also nice enough to offer to pick me up from my hotel versus me having to pay a taxi. Marten was a wonderful host with a lot of really interesting stories! We loved hearing about some history of Amsterdam and specifically about the area we were walking through. We had a great time walking around the Albert Cuyp Market sampling different food. My favorite was the warm, fresh stroopwafel, but everything we tried was delicious! In hindsight, my family would have appreciated at least one stop where we could have sat down for a bit to eat (we were with my in-laws), but that didn’t detract from the great experience we had. I had alerted Olga to the fact that I walk rather slowly using a walking aid. Olga set a gentle pace but nevertheless we covered the principal sights as well as some special corners of central Amsterdam. Olga combined historical facts with fascinating background material. Elvina met with us at short notice and the weather was awful, very wet and windy, however despite this she was friendly and cheerful. Our walk through the red light district was interesting and informative with a welcome pit stop halfway round for traditional Dutch apple pie. She was very knowledgeable, professional, with a good sense of humor and timing, and lots of fascinating tidbits about the city. I was worried that 3 hours might be long, but she timed it well and filled it with exactly the right balance of history and culture and architecture and art, so that it flew by. Arum was nice and knowledgeable about the history of local foods. It was mostly a stroll through a local street market, tasting an eclectic mix of Dutch and ethnic-inspired Dutch foods, though we ended early due to exhaustion on the part of some of our group. We tried delicious “Pom” sandwiches, Gouda cheeses, Dutch pancakes, and unexpected pairing of Dutch apple pie and draft beer, fried fish (we declined the herring), and ended with bitterballen. I don’t think this was a foodie’s “best of Amsterdam” tour, but rather an introduction to different foods found here that you may not encounter elsewhere. Arun spoke quickly and softly so it was difficult at times for some in our 6-person group to hear what he was saying. Having said that, we didn’t all do an especially good job sticking close by, though we did have to ask him to repeat himself a few times for those who couldn’t catch his words. If we had been a bit more energetic I think it might have been more fun, unfortunately we had had a long day and ran out of steam before we got through all the stops. The thing most important to know is that this is rather eclectic in terms of the order of tasting things - from cheese to butter soaked sugar cakes to beer, so prepare your stomach accordingly. And be sure to bring water to wash it all down. Good intro to Amsterdam Int’l Food Scene

Vorweg möchte ich erwähnen, dass Marten ein netter, sympathischer Tourguide ist und viel Wissen weiter vermittelt. Die Foodtour führte kurz durch ein Stadtviertel und fand vorwegs auf einem Markt statt. Die Auswahl an Verkostungen war jedoch recht mager - von Fisch zu Süßem und dann wieder Fisch, Süßes und zum Abschluss Käse - und wenig abwechslungsreich. Was auf jeden Fall fehlte waren Getränke während dieser 2stüngigen Tour! Mussten wir uns selbst besorgen. Als Resumee: für diesen Preis hätte ich mir mehr Auswahl und Getränke erwartet. History aspect of the tour was great, Olga showed us a lot of cool things we wouldn't have known about. Her personality was unapproachable though. She was quite dismissive if we asked questions, kinda giving us a "duh" answer when we asked everyday life questions. Robotic with her story telling.
