Kate gave us a wonderful tour of the Wicklow mountains and the surrounding area! She’s so kind and accommodating, showing us where locals have a good time. From the shore to the mountains, Kate amazed us with her knowledge of the area. We went to many vistas and overlooks that tour buses could’ve even reach. Her storytelling is impeccable, and the views are scenic. I can’t imagine our visit to the real Emerald Isle without Kate and her beautiful, fun spirit! 11/10 would recommend! We went to the Glendalough Monastic Monument, followed by a wonderful and refreshing hike to the Wicklow mountains. We were blessed with good weather. Diana was a fantastic guide, who paid attention to the fact that I enjoyed hiking, which was why the iteniary deviated, that was a great suggestion. The views were stunning. Afterwards, we had tea at Powerscourt. I highly recommend this particular tour! .Wonderful outing - lots to do and see

We booked a private day tour with Gateway to Ireland for the Wicklow Mountains and had an amazing day with our guide Diana. Pre-trip communication was clear and responsive to my questions and requests. We visited Glendalough and hiked along the Wicklow Way above Lough Tay (Guiness Lake), which was the main request for the day from the teens in our party. Diana found us a nice vegetarian restaurant for lunch and when our afternoon plan was not met with the expected enthusiasm from the teens, Diana graciously switched gears (and set aside the research she had done for my original request) and came up with other suggestions, which earned a 10/10 from the teens. I had never used a driver/private guide before and it was a splurge. Diana made it worth it and I won't hesitate to hire her again on our next visit to Ireland!Wicklow Day Tour

We had a nice trip up north with Kate as our driver and guide. She was able to provide round trip transport from our hotel in Dublin up to the Newgrange UNESCO area. We drove through some charming little towns on the way back. The day was a bit less structured than I was hoping for and as a result, we got behind schedule and were not able to visit a couple of sites as they were already closed. This day trip to idyllic countryside from Dublin with Diana as our guide was fantastic from beginning to end. I traveled with my two children (10 and 4). It was a very last minute trip, booked the night before, but she was prompt and professional and coordinated all of the logistics. Diana tailored the experience beautifully to make sure that all three of us got maximum enjoyment from the trip. She had deep knowledge about the history around the places we visited, and was very personable. She even offered to take all of the photos of the trip for us to download later, so that we could enjoy the day without taking out our phones. For the kids, she added small little treats, such as a flora/fauna detective hunt at Powerscourt Gardens, a trip to the playground at Powerscourt Waterfall, and an ice cream break at Glendalough. My daughter is obsessed with Tangled (the Rapunzel animated film), and Diana found a way to take us a stone tower at Glendalough that was exactly like the one in the film. Our family is vegetarian, and for lunch Diana found an authentic Irish restaurant in Laragh that was also vegetarian-friendly. We couldn't have asked for a better trip. The sights themselves did not disappoint, and Diana as the guide made sure to keep all ages happy and relaxed throughout.Idyllic day trip with the perfect guide

The tour takes us to some of the most beautiful scenic sites in Ireland. Diana the guide is very personable and helpful. My wife and took this private tour on September 27th 2024. Diana was terrific. We were particularly interested in Glendalough, and St. Kevin in particular. She had maps and old photos (from the 1800's) of the site so we could see how the ruins of St. Kevin's Monastery have been preserved. She was knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions we had. It was a beautiful place, and it really added to our trip. The beauty of the Wicklow Mountains, and Powerscourt was and added treat that rounded out the day. Diana was fabulous! As we were in Ireland, unsurprisingly, the forecast called for some rain. Diana did a great job rearranging our day to ensure we maximized the sunny time during our outdoors portions! She did a great job summarizing the history of each location we visited as well as the modern day significance. She picked out a great spot for lunch and had a table reserved so we could get in quickly! Powerscourt is a must see for the garden and water fall! I can't say enough about Kate! First, she is ideal for someone coming in for just a day via cruise. She lives near the tender port of dun Laoghaire and since tender timing is so iffy, I was able to WhatsApp her when our tender departed and she met us at the cruise dock and rode in to Dublin with us....and also came back with us at the end. It was great because we didn't have to estimate times to get to a meeting point, so we maxed out on our Kate time. Her tour was fabulous. She has had a career as a professional journalist, so she was really good at separating out what is fact and what is her opinion as she told us so much about Ireland's history and politics. She is also an accomplished artist, who is particularly skilled at capturing the live music scene. So, in addition to great accurate historical perspectives enlivened with journalistic skills, we were able to appreciate local art and the music scene. She is essentially the perfect guide. We loved her as a person as well! Our private food tour with Mydie was wonderful. She is personable and fun, and we felt like we were with an old friend. Walking around the city and going to several different food places on both the North and South sides of Dublin, was very interesting. We got to sample meat pies and cider, fish and chips, some very yummy fudge and chocolates and of course, to top it all off, delicious ice cream. It was a great day and we hated for it to end. We were on a cruise ship that was unable to tender us to the pier in Dublin. We were in touch with Kate continually during the morning, hop8ng we could get in. But Oceania decided to just leave Dublin and sail to Cornwall. I asked for a refund and sent her what she needed to do with you. Which I took off of your website. She said she would try. This was totally out of our control and hope that With Local will give us the refund. We didnt do the tour

This is extremely disappointing as I reserved this food walking tour in April and I arrived this morning in Ireland for the first time looking forward to this experience. Had I known this was a scam, I would have booked something through TripAdvisor but was hoping to support local. What a horrible let down. Waited for over 45 mins for an individual that never showed up and never communicated any alternatives. So far this company has been has been inattentive with regards to any follow through with a refund or explanation. What a scam and a horrible first day experience in Ireland. Scam

This was our first time using WithLocals. It was recommended to us by a co-worker who had a great experience in Isreal. This was also our first time booking private tours instead of sitting in the back of a tour bus! OMG! So much better and so worth it! We originally booked a day trip to the Cliffs of Mohr. However, communication with our tour guide, Marius, in the days prior to our arrival, we soon realized that, due to our cruise port, we would have spent 3 hours one-way in the car to see the epic cliffs and not much else. We were maily interested in seeing the beatiful scenery of Ireland. So, Maruis suggested (and created) a completely custom itinerary that crammed so many amazing places into our tour. I am so glad he suggested the alternative. We were at Powerscourt Gardens when they opened and literally had the enourmous space to ourselves. We spent time at Powerscourt Waterfall, Glendalough, Glenmackness Waterfall, Guinness Lake and picked wild blueberries in the Wiklow Mountains at the very bridge that was used in the film P.S. I Love You! Marius, thoughtfully emptied a small plastic tub of gum into a napkin so that we had something to put the blueberries in. And they were amazing on our pancakes the next morning on the ship! He took us to the Heather Wicklow Restaurant where we treated him to lunch (Best Corned Beef I've ever had). Maruis was so genuine and fun to be with that he became an instant friend that we hope to stay in contact with. We did 8 tours over the twelve days we were in the British Isles and our time with Maruis was hands-down one of our favorites! Nothing beats a private tour!
