Ruby was fantastic from start to finish.We contacted her last minute and she was able to put together a 3 day program overnight. we were traveling with my 88 year old mother and Ruby was so thoughtful and kept her company while we did some of the more strenuous walking stops. she was able to last minute arrange a speed boat to bring us back early to the harbor at Ha long Bay which cut 2 hrs on the trip. She was very adaptable and conscience of my mother's fatigue levels.I highly recommended her services. Fantastic Ruby!

The experience begins when Ngọc Ruby responds to the booking with a greeting via WhatsApp. Communication is clear and arrangements are smooth. Ruby is relaxed and our driver to Ha Long was nice. The road trip in their private vehicle was very comfortable. She made me us feel even more relaxed by sharing stories and interesting local information. Ruby was a great match to our vibe, with a perfect balance of energy and chill, chattiness and quiet. She knew when to engage, and when to give space. We had other friends who went on a separate Ha Long standard (unguided) cruise. Ruby is a very energetic, bubbly guide with a welcoming smile and sense of fun! She had lots of interesting information about the area and ensured we were comfortable throughout the day. The boat we went on was lovely and offered a varied, tasty buffet, including vegetarian options and cake! The only downside, which was completely out of Ruby’s control was the amount of rubbish in the water. Sadly this is a case of where tourism helps a place but sadly ruins it at the same time. There was about 30 other vessels in the area and the beach we stopped at was full to capacity. As this is a UNESCO World Heritage site much more should be done to protect it.

Amazing experience we had with Ruby. 10/10! She was very communicative from the get go. Ruby is an absolute star. She is fun, knowledgeable, and took many photos of us as we enjoyed our time in Vietnam. She enabled priority access for everything, no queues, and extra service alround. She made Vietnam special. Without her, we wouldn't have seen much at all. But we saw so much that we wouldn't have ever found alone. We visited Ha long city, ha long bay, old quarter hanoi, lotte tower, hidden cafes and quirky temples, even Trang An where they filmed king kong and so much more. We couldn't speak highly enough of Ruby or our amazing experience in Vietnam. Thank you so much.

Vu war mein privater Tourguide bei diesem Ausflug. Vu hatte als Jugendlicher und junger Erwachsener viele Jahre in Deutschland gelebt und spricht daher nicht nur sehr gutes Deutsch, sondern kann auch ein paar interessante Geschichten von der damaligen DDR erzählen! Vu ist sehr freundlich und hat einen tollen Wissensstand. Er kann über die Tour hinaus viel von der alten und neuen Geschichte Vietnams erzählen. Die Tour selbst war sehr gut geplant. Vu schreibt ein paar Tage vorher per WhatsApp und hält einen immer auf dem Laufenden. Ich wurde pünktlich am Hotel abgeholt. Der Fahrer spricht kein Deutsch und nur wenig Englisch, ist aber ebenfalls sehr freundlich und fährt sicher und gut. Vu ist immer dabei, deshalb ist die fehlende Kommunikation mit dem Fahrer kein Problem. Auf der Fahrt zur Bucht hält man kurz an einem Perlengeschäft an. Hier hat man eine kleine Pause. Was kurze Zeit an eine Kaffeefahrt erinnert, stellt sich schnell als unterhaltsam und eigentlich sogar informativ heraus. Hier kann man sehen (!!) wie natürliche Perlen gezüchtet werden, was ich sehr interessant fand. Der Aufenthalt ist freundlich und man ist zu keinerlei Kauf gedrungen. Das Personal ist freundlich und hält diskret Abstand. Deshalb keine Sorge, wenn man wirklich nur auf Toilette möchte und sich nur die Zucht anschauen möchte. Am Hafen für die Buchtfahrt angekommen, transferiert man auf ein Boot. Mein Boot wurde mit einer überschaubaren Gruppe geteilt. Insgesamt werden wir 20 Leute gewesen sein. Ich war alleine mit meinem Guide, die andere Gruppe teilte sich einen Guide, welcher ebenfalls sehr freundlich war und auf dem Boot die Führung übernimmt. Auf meinen Wunsch für veganes Essen wurde eingegangen und es war sogar sehr viel und gut! Die anderen hatten Speisen mit Fleisch und Meeresfrüchten. Ehrlicherweise glaube ich, dass mein Essen das bessere war. Vielleicht lohnt es sich daher vegan / vegetarisch vorzubestellen?! Der Trip zur Bucht war toll, ich bin froh, dass ich es kurz nach der Wiedereröffnung Vietnam’s gemacht habe. Meiner Meinung nach waren während meines Trips bereits viele Boote und Schiffe unterwegs, laut meinem Guide aber lange nicht so viele wie vor COVID Zeiten. Mehr hätte mir nicht gefallen. Vielleicht kann man sich vorher informieren, wann es generell ruhiger ist. Im Paketpreis sind Kajakfahrt und der Besuch einer Höhle beinhaltet. Die Kajakfahrt ist sehr zu empfehlen! Der Besuch der Höhle war anstrengend, da meiner Meinung nach zu viele Touristen zur gleichen Zeit in der Höhle waren (auch hier: wohl viel weniger als sonst!). Alles in allem: Ob Ausflug zur Halong Bucht oder ein anderer Ausflug, lasst euch von Vu beraten und nicht ihn.Sehr empfehlenswert!

The point of booking a tour like this and spending more money than a standard tour bus is to spend time with someone who is passionate and knowledgeable about the area. Loan didn’t speak to us for all 5 hours we were in the car together. She picked us up in car without working seatbelts and a back seat covered in sunflower seeds and toenail clippings. She then left us to “relax” on the beach for an hour while she read. The garbage covered beach in the winter isn’t my idea of relaxing. The boat trip, meal, and private tour of the caves was quite nice, but again Loan shared very little information with us. She explained the shapes of the land forms and very brief details about the history. Fine if I was on a bus full of tourists but really not what I expected from this experience and for the amount of money we paid. After Loan dropped us off, she accidentally text me in Vietnamese, that we were bad customers who weren’t grateful. Claimed that the message wasn’t about us... and then deleted the message. So unprofessional, I was astounded. I would’ve been disappointed but not upset if it weren’t for that final straw. We were very patient and friendly all day even though aspects were beyond disappointing and she showed no interest in our experience. I don’t like leaving reviews, but this was simply too much to wrap my mind around, and I have more things I could list that were unprofessional. I’m not sure where these 100 plus other positive reviews came from. Disappointing

Loan collected us from the hotel and during the fairly long drive she explained about many different aspects we encountered en route. She answered our questions knowledgeably and nothing was too much trouble for her. She was a great guide and has an obvious love for her beautiful country which it was a joy to share with her. When we were out on the water exploring the caves, she made sure that our boatman showed us every treasure to be seen, which was so much more than our expectations. Our boat was small, so we had ample space to view and take pictures and our lunch was excellent. It was an enjoyable day out made more interesting by Loan’s attentiveness and knowledge. Der Tag war rundum perfekt, von der Abholung über den Ausflug bis hin zur Rückfahrt. Hung kümmert sich um alles, spricht hervorragend deutsch und kennt sich sehr gut aus. Ich empfehle übrigens nicht zu viel zu essen, an Bord des Schiffes gibt es etwas zu essen und zwar soviel, dass ihr danach völlig satt seid ;) Das würde ich jederzeit wieder machen, danke!Geiler Tag, alles perfekt!

VU’s perspective heightened the entire experience of this trip. During the ride to Halong bay we discussed shared interest from prior life experiences. Our discussions during the ride provided a personal connection untypical from prior travel experiences. Once we reached Halong bay, his planning landed a seat on a less crowded boat allowing an intimate experience. This allowed VU to explain all the sites clearly with minimal distraction. I can’t imagine doing a day trip to Vietnam sites any other way than with a private guide and Loan was wonderful. I did two day trips with her to Ha Long Bay and Ninh Binh. She made both trips very easy and enjoyable by taking care of everything. It would have been a complicated and frustrating experience for me any other way. The best thing about Loan, though, is her depth of knowledge not only about the sites you see, but vietnams relation to the rest of the world. This tour is a little more expensive as you get taken in a private car and the route taken is along the new highway which cuts down the journey time from 4 or 5 hours to just 2-3 hours. There was a short stop at a new motorway services where you can go for a loo break and/or get some snacks and a drink. We had to wait at the new terminal in Halong for the sailing. It is a huge place which looks more like a hotel lobby and reception. When our boat arrived, Loan had explained that we would be joining a boat with other groups. Each boat can take up to 40-50 passengers. Once on board, a sumptuous meal was provided. As there was only three of us, Loan had requested that we have a table to ourselves. We arrived in Halong Bay and were given the choice of kayaking ourselves or being taken in a boat by a local person. We chose the lazy option and were rowed to interesting parts around the bays and inlets. We got back to the boat after about 40 mins and were taken to another island where we could explore two limestone caves. Both were very interesting and awe-inspiring. We returned to the mainland around 4:30-5pm and our driver was waiting for us. We returned to Hanoi by 7:30pm. We found Loan, our guide, to be very pleasant . She was very helpful and always eager to please. There was good communication between Loan and us via e-mails and WhatsApp from booking through to pick-up at our hotel, when she informed us that she was running late. The traffic in Hanoi is really bad, and it was great to be updated. Her command of English is good and we can thoroughly recommend her.Private day trip to Halong Bay with Loan

Thang arranged for our airport transfers both ways and they both turned up which was a relief as on a previous trip to Vietnam our ride didn’t arrive and we were late to the airport. On the morning of our day trip to Halong Bay Thang arrived at hotel on time. He was incredibly attentive the whole day he was with us. He arranged for us to have a non seafood lunch on the boat as my husband has allergies. The food on the boat was much better than I expected. Wir haben mit Hung (Vu ist sein Nachname) zwei super tolle Tagesausflüge gehabt. Wir buchten den Tagesausflug in die Halong-Bucht und nach Ninh Binh. Leider hatten wir die zwei Ausflüge genau zu dem Zeitpunkt gebucht, als der Taifun "Mangkhut" Kurs auf das Festland nahm. Unsere ursprüngliche Buchung sah zuerst die Tour in die Halong-Bucht vor. Diese wäre aufgrund des Wetters aber nicht möglich gewesen. Hung bot uns an, die Tage zu tauschen, da für den zweiten Tag eine gute Chance bestand, dass die Boote wieder auslaufen dürfen. Also sind wir am ersten Tag nach Ninh Binh gefahren. Hung konnte uns auf dem Weg dorthin eine Menge über Land und Leute erzählen. Die besichtigte Tempelanlage, die Fahrradtour und die Bootstour waren sehr schön und interessant. Besonders die Ruhe abseits der großen Touristenströme im Hinterland war für uns sehr wohltuend. Das Mittagessen bei einer Familie war sehr lecker und man wurde sehr freundlich empfangen. Alles in allem war der Ausflug sehr schön. Der Ausflug am zweiten Tag ging dann in die Halong-Bucht. Die Fahrt dauert zwar etwas mehr als 4 Stunden, aber der lange Anfahrtsweg lohnt sich auf jeden Fall. Die Halong-Bucht ist einfach traumhaft. Es ist hier tatsächlich so, wie in vielen Hochglanz-Prospekten beschrieben. Es ist sehr beeindruckend mit dem Boot durch die ruhigen Gewässer durch das Labyrinth der Felsen zu fahren. An Bord wurde ein Mittagessen serviert. Da wir allerdings kein Fisch und Seafood essen, organisierte Hung für uns ein Alternativ-Menü an Bord. Wir können Hung uneingeschränkt als Tour-Guide empfehlen. Er ging auf alle unsere Wünsche und Fragen ein und hat uns somit zwei unvergessliche Tage ermöglicht. Die Ausflüge waren von ihm super durchgeplant und ermöglichten einen reibungslosen Ablauf. Auch für das unkomplizierte Tauschen der Tage aufgrund des Wetters sind wir ihm sehr dankbar. Okay - so i had the spontaneous idea to use the weekend to finally get to know the country I am living in - so i booked the Ha Long Bay trip (First time user if the app). Admittedly - I did not check the weather forecast - but neither did Thanh. Given that he told me he is a professional tour guide - I would have expected that he would issue a littlebit of a warning that right now may not be a good time to go there. Anyway - we went. During the ride he was more interested playing with his phone or being on Zalo or FB than engaging with us (as in explaining where we are etc. ) After he woke up from his nap in the car - we were already pretty far gone and it was lighting storms everywhere. Whilst he thought it would be a great idea to go in heavy rain & lighting onto a ship (really?!) i decided against it and we turned around and went back. Instead of trying to salvage the situation - he - again was more interested into the return of the Vietnamese soccer team, his Zalo & his FB than us. Its easy to call yourself a tour guide when the weather is great and everyone is happy - but the entire trip he was disengaged - and became even more disengaged and almost rude when we decided that safety comes first. Nobody can be blamed for the weather - but - how to deal with it and actually being a tour guide - that is the difference. Just sitting in the car and getting the tickets does not make you a tour guide! Additionally, I recommend to fact check - because the question i did ask (i a lack of an actual tour guide) were answered wrongly. I am sure the app is a great idea - but booking this tour guide is not. Btw - i still had to pay him fully for his "services" ...unbelievable...Less than impressed...never again..

We started our travel from 12pm , the first stop was to the boat enjoyed our lunch and scenery of Halong bay,which impressed me most was Thang kindly reminded me about the currency while I wanted to buy a hat,since I really bad at counting or maths..I hate that the Vietnamese has to a lot of zeros...but Thang is good.second stop we went to played Kayaking,I was really glad that he was willing to play with me because my Friend wanted to stay on the boat.and the Kayaking was fun .and the last,he guided us to visit a cave ,even though I was not that much interested in that cave,For understanding Vietnam history,it’s still worth to visit.and Thang was very nice to carry my handbag all the time. Finished all the trip we back to hotel around 6pm. Thanks so much for the gentle and sweet sweet guide. Thang Thang is Q and Sweet

Mr. Do Hung is an experienced tour guide, who I would recommend for your time in Hanoi. Our day to Halong Bay was a much longer tour, but Mr Hung was informative, helpful, and made sure we were always comfortable. The driver was also great! Toan was an expert of Halong. He also had really deep knowledge of Hanoi and Vietnam in general. It felt like we were friends by the end of the trip! He told me a lot about his family and personal opinions about what it is to be Hanoian. Having a true local spend one-on-one time with you is something that is special and really is different from other types of tours I have done before!Best way to try and avoid the Halong Bay crowds!!!
