Marius was an excellent tour guide! We did the main objective of the trip - Cliffs of Moher - but aside from that he customized the rest of the day trip to what interested us. We love nature and going off the beaten path so he took us to some hidden gems. But whether your interest is shopping, culture, nature, you name it - he has options for you! And don't let his non-native Irish heritage detour you - he knows so much about the history and culture and could answer all the questions we asked. He knows all the nooks and crannies of Ireland and impressed us all with the places he took us. He has so many tour options whether you have only 3 hours or several days- he will take you anywhere and do anything whether it's a family trip, friends or more. This was our first time using WithLocals. It was recommended to us by a co-worker who had a great experience in Isreal. This was also our first time booking private tours instead of sitting in the back of a tour bus! OMG! So much better and so worth it! We originally booked a day trip to the Cliffs of Mohr. However, communication with our tour guide, Marius, in the days prior to our arrival, we soon realized that, due to our cruise port, we would have spent 3 hours one-way in the car to see the epic cliffs and not much else. We were maily interested in seeing the beatiful scenery of Ireland. So, Maruis suggested (and created) a completely custom itinerary that crammed so many amazing places into our tour. I am so glad he suggested the alternative. We were at Powerscourt Gardens when they opened and literally had the enourmous space to ourselves. We spent time at Powerscourt Waterfall, Glendalough, Glenmackness Waterfall, Guinness Lake and picked wild blueberries in the Wiklow Mountains at the very bridge that was used in the film P.S. I Love You! Marius, thoughtfully emptied a small plastic tub of gum into a napkin so that we had something to put the blueberries in. And they were amazing on our pancakes the next morning on the ship! He took us to the Heather Wicklow Restaurant where we treated him to lunch (Best Corned Beef I've ever had). Maruis was so genuine and fun to be with that he became an instant friend that we hope to stay in contact with. We did 8 tours over the twelve days we were in the British Isles and our time with Maruis was hands-down one of our favorites! Nothing beats a private tour!

Marius was great. Very friendly. Very willing to adjust things for our likes. However it is a very very long drive to get to the Cliffs ( close to 4 hours) so once there you have very little time to see anything. With only 8 hours booked for this tour your actual time at the Cliffs is very short ( 45 minutes). The scenery along the way is quite beautiful there and back. And as I said Marius was wonderful If you have but one day to leave Dublin and see something more of Ireland ask Marius to recommend a different trip unless you are really set on seeing the Cliffs If you only have one day not worth it

An adventure across the Isle from Dublin in the East to the Cliffs of Moher in the West. The cliffs are dramatic, a nice walk along the coastal path above and also a tower to climb for better views. Scenic views on the return journey to Dublin visiting some ancient sites. We would say we spent more time in the car getting there and back than we had originally realised. A nice day out with an informative guide.East to West

At the last minute Marius was unable to make the day tour to the Cliffs of Moher but arranged for transport and a make-up historical walking tour of Dublin. I wish I could give Marius a one-million star rating! He was that amazing! For our Cliffs of Moher tour, he promptly picked us up at our hotel. What my friend and I loved about Marius was that he was a font of knowledge -- a true Renaissance Man, but he didn't overwhelm you with information, either. I consider myself a history buff and he was definitely able to teach me a thing or two! We also made some terrific stops that we wouldn't have been able to had we been on a bus or big coach tour. I don't want to spoil the surprises along the way but my friend and I couldn't get over how thoughtful and insightful Marius was. It was definitely a long day -- we drove from one side of the country to another -- but we felt safe and secure in his clean, safe car with Marius at the wheel. Marius took us to the Cliffs of Moher. Absolutely awesome guide! We were comfortable in his private car. He was so knowledgeable. He is a super interesting and very sweet person so the long drive went by in absolutely no time. He made sure he fit in some interesting stops along the way that a tour bus would NEVER get to. Marius was a wonderful host and tour guide. I had an unexpected injury, and he modified the tour to take this into account, but didn't sacrifice any of the highlights. We thought we were just going to see the Cliffs of Moher and some other quaint sights along the road, but the spots he picked out along the way to the cliffs were genuinely the highlights of the tour. He found some really breathtaking, secluded areas we never would have seen had we gone with a larger tour. And there were little personal touches along the way: he found blackberries and hazelnuts growing along the road for us to try. For two people who live in NYC, that was quite an experience!A magical day

Kate. Where to start. So easy to communicate via email. Kind, warm, funny, sweet, very easy to chat with. From the first email exchange, she was a great listener and really took to heart the trip we wished to experience. Once we set a plan, Kate picked my mom andI up in her car and drove us through lovely towns, explaining a little about each. She had great knowledge about this area as she is from here and it was lovely to hear about stuff you'd only learn through a true local. We loved our beautiful day to the Cliffs of Moher. She even arranged for sunshine! Following the Cliffs, we soaked up a delicious pint of Guiness and the best small delicious bowl of local seafood chowder. She was right - this place was the best. After driving us home late into the night, like a pro, she was a safe driver, was the perfect about of chatty and quiet and got us back to our hotel safely. She has completely convinced us hiring a local tour guide, supporting a local human is the way to go when visiting new places. We can't thank Kate enough for her sense of humor, professionalism, authenticity and the easy connection we formed instantly. She feels like a sweet old friend / family member. What can I say about Kate? A wonderful and very open conversationalist. We connected immediately. Even my sometimes moody daughter actively engaged in talk. The ride to the quaint towns were unbelievable. The countryside was breathtaking. Kinvara was a lovely town where I had my first ever scone. It was DELISH. When we stopped in Doolin, another lovely seaside town, I had authentic seafood chowder and an Irish traditional beef stew with potatoes in a true pub!!!!! The food was the BEST EVER!!! The drive to the Cliffs of Moher was another breathtaking moment. Kate pulled over so I could take a video of the Atlantic Ocean waves and scenery. I have no words for the splendor that my daughter and I experienced. The Cliffs of Moher was an amazing site to see. To smell the air from the ocean, the crashing of the waves, to see the three Aran islands, and to be just one with the naturally evolved Cliffs makes one appreciate the beauty of this world amid all the strife that is happening across the globe. I was truly at peace. Our return journey to Dublin wS another unforgettable experience! Thank you Kate, you did a GRAND JOB!!!WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!!!

Amazing!!! This review will not suffice for how wonderful Kate is! She is so much fun and entertaining and her historical knowledge of all things Ireland is vast! Kate picked my husband and I up at our hotel in Dublin, where she drove us to see the Cliffs. Along the way we chatted about genealogy, history, current events and culture. We arrived at a beautiful village on Galway Bay called Kinvara for a quick tea and toasted Brown Bread-Delicious! From there we drove to the Cliffs and then on to Galway! All the while, Kate explained what we were seeing along the way and had us jump out for some rare photo ops! The day flew by and it was one of the most memorable tours I have ever taken. Our guide Derek did a lovely job of introducing us to the history of Galway. We learned about “murder holes” and the origins of words like “lynch” and “boycott.” Being on a small, personal tour with just my mum & her 4 daughters was perfect because my 85 year old mum walks pretty slow. Derek was able to pace the tour to our needs. We could always hear him easily because of the small group and he was open to all our questions. Mydie was an excellent host! We scheduled a day drive out to the inland of Ireland with only one specific destination (National Sheep Dog Trials near Athlone). We started out of town on the main highway but then transitioned to smaller side roads to get a feel for the countryside. Mydie had valuable knowledge and experience to show us some unique historical places. We also found interesting photo sites. Several times we were on even smaller one lane roads. The tour covered the rich history of Galway City and Derek points out the hidden historical gems along the way. We loved it. Would recommend taking the tour at the beginning of your stay in Galway. If you want to enhance your visit to Dublin (or just looking for something different to do), do yourself a favor and book a food tour with WithLocals! …specifically Mydie!! From the minute our group met her, we knew we’d enjoy her company. She’s got a terrific personality and was very entertaining with her stories of Irish history and legends. Let’s see if I can remember everything…3 different kinds of potato cakes (a little thicker than our potato pancakes) with a glass of hard cider, then a doughnut, then a good-size portion of smoked cod & chips (they had a sign outside listing all the celebrities who had eaten there), then Irish Guinness stew, then a falafel stuffed with mozzarella and finally the best ice cream we’ve ever had. With this said, if anyone in your group has special dietary needs, they are happy to work around it. We look forward to checking out WithLocals food tours in other cities we travel to in the future. While waiting for train to Howth , Kate asked us what we each were looking for in the tour. My husband loves history and I enjoy architecture and gardening. Kate made sure to include those items and more. I am hearing impaired and I had no trouble hearing or understanding her. Our tour was very fun and we learned a great deal. She was very attentive and caring about us as we walked along. Before leaving at the end of the tour, she let us know about some very good restaurants in the area, which we took full advantage of. Finally, Kate invited us to text or email her with any questions for the remainder of our time in Ireland. Exploring Howth with Kate was delightful.

we were supposed to visit the mountains in wicklow but we wanted to change that due to some circumstances. marius instead took us to bray, where our daughters could feed the swans and seagulls. it was wonderful to go there and experience the waterfront as well as the greenery of wicklow. marius was kind, good humoured, and informative with his tour! lovely trip!
