We were on a cruise and looking for just an overview of Palermo without a 3 -4 hour indepth guide. This kick start tour was very good and was exacetly what we were looking for: a snapshop of Palermo and its history and culture. We learned a lot, walked by a lot of places - Fabio made recommendations of things to go into if we had time after the tour - and the only negativre was that he did not let us know that most placdes closed from 2-4+pm for afternoon siesta. This is important as we would have timed our tour with him to be during Siesta period and walked around to see the artisans and stores prior to his tour. Knoledgeable and Enthusiastic

Salvatore went above and beyond our expectations. We had two children with us and he tried to make the programme appeal to everyone (not always easy). He told us about his favourite spots and his recommendations (which we tried over the course of our stay) were all spot-on. Ice cream, coffee, special sweets, activities etc. Furthermore he went longer than the time allotted, which was great for us!

Let me start by saying that our only regret is that we didn't discover the opportunity to do this 'introductory' guided walking tour earlier in our stay! By the time we approached Michelangelo online to enquire about this walking tour we had already been staying in Palermo for several days. However, unlike most other cities we've experienced, we still felt as though we were missing certain important understandings which could help us to form connections with Palermo. Yet in the relatively short time of our excursion together, Michelangelo revealed the wonderful fusion of cultures and many-layered histories which form the complex city of contrasts that Palermo is today. This was no template tour. Michelangelo absolutely tailored the tour to our needs, even responding to our interests by revising his initial itinerary as we walked. Seeing features of this amazing city through Michelangelo's eyes really brought Palermo alive for us! We covered some new ground as well as some streets and features that had become somewhat familiar to us. It was fascinating how revisiting some of the places we'd been - (and places we'd walked past without seeing) - caused us to look more closely and with new eyes when Michelangelo explained their histories and significance. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening tour. We found Michelangelo to be genuine, knowledgeable, kind, and good company. He speaks English to a high standard, which enhanced our experiences and understandings. It was an added pleasure meeting Michelangelo's lovely girlfriend and discovering her perspectives on the city as well. After the tour had ended we finished our evening at a restaurant in an area shown to us along the way. We had the best meal out we'd had since arriving in Palermo. Thank you so much, Michelangelo. This guided tour was such a great way to unlock a new, more informed look at Palermo and its rich history. Salvatore was very friendly and knowledgeable about his home town. He explained the city's layout and architecture from a historical perspective, which all makes sense as you wander through the different areas on your own later. He also surprised us with some interesting details that we had literally walked straight past earlier because we didn't know about them. As this is a private tour it makes for a more personal and tailored experience, and you can stand close enough to hear each other speak (Palermo is not a quiet city!). At the end of our stay in Palermo, I asked my family about their highlights of the week, and everyone agreed Salvatore's tour came out on top. We had a glitch with our morning tour and contacted Luca to see if he could help us fill in the “colour” of Palermo.
