We did the kick starter tour and it was so fun, so informative. He is from Sorrento and knows everyone. “Gianni Red” is just awesome! He pointed out the best places to eat, gave us some history of the area and best of all, shared some fun things for us to do while we were there. After a long and harrowing drive from Sienna to Sorrento, my wife and took a couple of days to acclimate ourselves to Sorrento. Truth be told, the views from the cliffs surrounding the Bay of Naples, with Mt. Vesuvius and all the barrier islands can occupy your time for a while. It's a view you don't want to miss or compromise in terms of time, if you have it. If you dont, make it. We decided on our third day to book a tour with Alessandra to learn more about Sorrento and the surrounding hillsides. Seeing a place is one thing, experiencing a place and its people with someone who lives there takes things to an entirely differnt level. This is what we love about Withlocals. Alessandra was quick and efficient with her communication as we met her promptly under the statue of Sorrento's patron saint, Saint Antonino. From there we were guided through the streets, shops, cafes and cathedrals that define Sorrento. Along the way, Alessandra peppered our views with perspective and an understanding that no guide book or wikipedia page could ever hope to provide. Highlights included Via Santa Maria della Pieta and the Basilica di Sant'Antonino among many others. Alessandra's pride of place was infectious. The enthusiasm and joy she exuded while sharing stories, not just photo opps, was wonderful. In our experiences with Withlocals what we have come to enjoy as much as the knowledged gained about where we are, it's the new and lasting friendships we have made with nearly all of our guides. We are a young couple on our early 30s from Spain. We did two amazing tours with Gennaro, one by walking and one by car, the first at the historical centre of Naples (including the Decumani, Pignasecca market and the Quartieri Spagnoli, plus recommendations for other areas) and the second outside of the city, through the Amalfi coast. It was our first time doing something like this, and Gennaro has exceeded all our expectations. We visited Napoli for 3 days; we heard so good about Napoli: its history, food and authenticity! We start looking for some tours, was plenty of guides and sites, but finally we found Gennaro and we booked a pizza class with him on this site! We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Gennaro. He picked us up at our AirBnb, which took the stress out of our morning. He told us all about the history of Naples and the Amalfi Coast. Our drive was relaxing, with beautiful views and commentary. Each stop was planned, so we could enjoy all of the sights, with time for extra exploring if we wanted. The food recommendations were perfect, and we visited the special pastry shop featured on Stanley Tucci’s Searching For Italy. We added an optional Wine and Food Pairing at a winery on the slopes of Mt. Vesuvius. It was a special ending of a perfect day. Gennaro was extremely helpful when we had to change our travel plans the following day, due to an unexpected train strike. Truly a 5 star experience!!Perfect day in the Amalfi Coast!

We were lucky enough to have booked Gennaro for a day long guided tour around Naples! We took the train down from Rome and went to the National Archeological Museum of Naples first thing in the morning. Then Gennaro met us outside the museum and began our day in Naples. I know Naples has a reputation but the city is changing dramatically and we had one of the best days of our entire trip! Gennaro had his own car so he was able to take us to many places in and around the city...from the Bay of Naples to the heart of the city. We always felt safe walking around with him (Female). Agi and I have been cruising the Mediterranean for the last 8 days and our day with Gennaro was our most memorable, enjoyable and informative yet. Gennaro was so kind to reach out in the days before our arrival and he was instrumental in providing directions to the meeting place to two bumbling tourists. The actual tasting was beyond our expectations as it was just us and him. He spent a good amount of time at each stop and educated us as well as entertained. We learned that Napoli has become a top destination since COVID. We learned that each region and every 20 miles there is a different traditional cuisine. He taught us the correct way to eat pizza…I definitely need to practice. I had real espresso “chocolate” for the first time and had “Mozzarella di Bufala Campania DOP”.
