We liked the starting location a lot, and the first look into the older parts of Sydney. We would have appreciated more background information from Chris, and feel a bit more leadership would have improved the tour. However, Chris is very knowledgeable and chose a nice route!Improvement possible, but nice route!

Chris impressed with his willingness to customize a tour to suit personal preferences, and offered flexibility even during the tour to make stops if we saw interesting places to detour, or wanted to try a local food stall along the way. He offered to take many pictures with the Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge in the background using his knowledge of the good angles and times of day. Our group had a great time with Robyn and I'd strongly recommend this tour. We were able to sample a variety of cuisines and listen to really interesting stories and historical snippets about Sydney. The food and dessert was absolutely delicious and not something we'd have discovered by ourselves. I'd suggest going in with an open mind and an empty stomach. Robyn is also a super nice person and a great storyteller!Perfect food tour

Our guide, Chris, was friendly but did not dive into much history or details of the area. The tour felt more like a casual walk from stop to stop rather than an engaging, informative experience. Most locations offered small bites or water, but there was little storytelling or historical context to make the stops feel meaningful. While Chris was polite, he lacked the confidence and knowledge that would make for a compelling tour. It felt like he was simply following a pre-set itinerary rather than truly guiding us through the city’s culture and history. With more training and a stronger grasp of the material, he could improve significantly as a tour guide. Given the overall experience, the price felt extremely high for what was offered. The amount and quality of food, combined with the lack of engaging commentary, did not justify the cost. We’ve been on far better tours at a much more reasonable price. This experience has made us question whether we would book with WithLocals again, as it does not seem like there is a standard level of training or quality control for their guides. We had hoped for a well-structured and knowledgeable tour, but unfortunately, this one fell short in multiple ways. To help Chris improve, we suggest providing him with more guidance on delivering engaging historical context. Additionally, having him attend other tours to observe experienced guides could help him develop a stronger understanding of how to create a more immersive and informative experience. We also recommend lowering the cost of this tour significantly to align with the value. Disappointing experience

Completely enjoyed the afternoon we spent with Robyn touring through a neighborhood in Sydney tasting various foods and learning about the culture and history of the area. We are all foodies and were nicley surprised on the level of different food you can have on one street. She also included some local art history. Overall a great expereicne and well worth the money. We had a fantastic time with Robyn. She's full of stories and took the time to give us a thorough tour. Since it was a rainy day, she brought the car to keep us dry during the north to south Sydney crossing. We learned a lot about Sydney, stories even our Australian family didn't know. Robin did a good job of showing us the less traveled spots like Wendy’s Secret Garden. However, she fell short on being knowledgeable about local spots to eat. We wanted a special spot for lunch and we ended up at a touristy take out. We also never got the list of an Australian Christmas dinner. A few other minor stuff made the tour of an incredible city, just okay. Average

We were in Sydney for 3 days and wanted to take a guide through Sydney on the 2nd day. Robyn made Sydney come alive and tangible for us. We had actually booked a 3-hour tour - Robyn took so much time that we only parted company after 5 hours. She had so many interesting stories, places and special spots that she wanted to show us. What a fabulous day we had on this food tour with Robyn! It was far more than just about food. We got to experience the local Sydney neighborhood of Newtown, learning about the area's history, culture and people as well as the food. Robyn was articulate, personable, highly knowledgeable, and interesting. She was easy to communicate with before our tour, quickly responding to my questions. She was also flexible, adjusting the tour to our group's needs, such as dietary restrictions. We went to a multitude of restaurants and a pub, tasting a large variety of foods and drinks. This food tour was such a let down. Newtown is a very unimpressive part of Sydney and the food tastings were little more than stodgy and very average street food. Chris did his best, but for the price - £120 each - this was terrible value and doesn't present a great city in a good light. You'd be better off having a fine dining dinner in the CBD.Don't waste your money

My wife and I had a great day touring some of the highlights of Sydney with Robyn. We started with the Botanical Gardens and then the Sydney Opera House and Harbor Bridge. Through out Robyn explained the history and significance of all. Next we enjoyed a walk through North Sydney and then to Taronga Zoo We all were fascinated by the native animals. We had an excellent lunch along the beach at Watkins Bay. Finally we headed toward Biondi Beach. All in all we had a lovely time. I whole heartedly recommend using Robyn as she is a fantastic guide. We did the 10 Tastes of Sydney tour with Chris and had a wonderful time. Each taste was different and Chris explained the cultural/historical significance of each one. It was an abundant amount of food and I can’t imagine anyone walking away hungry. In addition to food, King Street is great for people watching and it is lined with cute boutique shops. As we said to Geejay, the day exceeded our expectations. We are experienced wine drinkers and vineyard visitors but hadn't been to the Hunter for many years. Here are the bullet points from the trip Comfortable car. Turned up on time. Affable host, eager to please with good social skills. We worried which vineyards might have been selected - very pleased with the three: it's what we wanted, boutique rather than big commercial ones. Geejay accommodated us by fitting in two extra vineyards we had visited many years ago. Leaving us feeling very satisfied (we'd done 5 wine areas in NZ in the two weeks before coming to Sydney, so we had a benchmark!) We would strongly recommend you. Notice you are on Tripadvisor for other cities but perhaps the Sydney enterprise is too new? Anyway, thanks again.really enjoyable wine tour
