What can you see in any town if you only have a couple of hours? Not much... Is it even worth it to bother? Well... book a 2 hours Kick Starter Tour with Thami and let him surprise you. Thami is a reliable guide. He picked us up from the port after waiting for us for over an hour. Important tip: make sure you stamp your passport on the ferry, otherwise your disembarkment will take for ever! The walk was pretty fast, but Thami made sure that we were able to keep up with him. His knowledge and passion about the place is impressive. We could not stop anywhere for long but had a nice break at Cinema Rif Cafe. It is well deserved after climbing the hills of Medina. You will be given access to cafe's Wifi so you can post hot of the press snaps of Tangier while enjoying a cup of fresh, strong mint tea. Great spot. And then comes the visit to Tangier's fish market. If like us you haven't been to the Orient you will be greatly impressed. Hustle and bustle of this place is difficult to describe. The noise, colours, flavours and smells and friendly traders tempting you with their exotic catch. The taste of fresh oysters offered to us (courtesy of Thami)... was a cherry on this amazing cake! He obviously knew a lot about the area. He was born and grew up in the medina. He talks the whole time - often when walking and so his voice is projecting forward when everyone is behind him. He often repeated the same information. The restaurant he suggested for us at the end was good - but be prepared to pay $20 USD for a variety of fairly small portions and they asked for a tip.Very knoweldgable and talks the whole time

We met at a cafe in town. Thami ask if we were ok walking briskly. My wife and I are both pretty fit so we said that would be great for us. He guided us through the city, and took us through the markets. He stopped by a looming shop to show us how the rugs, blankets and scarves are made. My wife bought several scarves. Also, there was a stop at an herbal medicine shop. Merchants in the markets are quite pushy, the corridors very narrow, and there is a lot of activity. At the end of the tour he dropped us off at a restaurant, although we said we were not hungry, Thami pointed the way out, and he left. Before we knew it there was an entire meal in front of us, which we just nibbled at. You have to be very assertive with your “NO” in Tangier. Thami also didn’t say the restaurant was “cash only”. We don’t carry cash and refused to use an ATM is that area, so the restaurant owner took us to a nearby shop, I’m guessing he owned as well, and charged our Visa. This was a hassle. Thankfully I have cellular service and could use google maps to get us back to the cruise port. We didn’t mind the pace of the tour but didn’t appreciate getting dumped off at the end. The stops in market feel like your being handled but that’s the whole vibe of the Tangier market. The hustle and bustle of the Tangier streets not for everyone. Fast paced walking tour

Thami was on time, friendly and informative. He gave us a lot of information and took us to some sights we would never have found without him. We booked the tour with Bilal and he made all the arrangements, but to our pleasant surprise, Soukayna was the guide who met us. She showed us the Medina, the Casbah and the souk and it was a very interesting and informative tour and we saw everything we had requested. Soukayna was a very good story teller and we spent some unforgettable hours with her. Her knowledge as a local was very good, she seemed to know many locals and also seemed to be well respected locally. On our first day in Tangier, we booked Thami to show us around. He navigated us through the crowded souks, vibrant markets, and important landmarks. As a family of 4 we took a day trip to Tangier from Tarifa and we do not regret the day at all as it was a highlight on our trip to Spain. It was a packed day full of seeing as much of Tangier in 5-6 hours as possible. We booked with Yousseff but ended up with Hassam. He was clearly knowledgeable about this city, was well known and everyone said hello to him on the tour which did make us feel like he was local. He provided tons of history and background as we toured the city and took in the sights and sounds of Tangier Morocco. The driver for the van was fantastic and very professional. We wish we would have booked an overnight so that we could have spent the full day following as well to be able to experience even more since it was so close to Spain. We drove around the city to see the sights in the van and that was great, although our guide spoke so quickly that sometimes it was hard to catch it all along with his accent. We saw Hercules caves and had a short-very short Camel ride. If you have the opportunity get a longer camel ride as it would be so worth it. In the Medina, he took us to places to appreciate the local artisans such as rug making, woven scarves and clothes, and silver. We also went to a spice vendor where we ended up buying some Argan oil and spices. All the vendors showed us how their crafts were made but at times it did feel a bit like a sales pitch and took up some of our time which was dissappointing. The walk through the Medina was incredible; the sights, the sounds and I would not have wanted to do it without a guide as it was a total maze of small alleyways. It was very rushed though and we wished we would have time to just linger at times during this tour which is why I recommend an overnight if possible. Hassam provided lots of history and local information on our tour which was appreciated. Tangier was not what we expected at all and the Medina was what we expected. It is a large city with so much to see. Overall the cost of the tour was good value for money, but recognize that once there you will incur other expenses that will add up along with the cost of the Ferry which for 4 persons return was more expensive than I was expecting. Also, know that at times your guide leaves you alone like in the restaurant or with the vendors and that was a piece we did not really like. Overall it was an excellent day that provided a great overview of what Tangier had to offer. We know that we want to go back to Morocco for sure after this tour! The lunch was a highlight of the tour, it was so delicious and the view spectacular. We could have spent the whole afternoon drinking mint tea on the balcony of that restaurant. Excellent service and food. Youssef himself is very good at communicating via the app.Day trip from Tariffa to Tangeir

We visited Tangier for a day via ferry from Tarifa. We had booked a walking tour with Thami and enjoyed the tour and his company immensely. Thami is a top class guide and is full of information about the history and culture of Tangier and Morocco. We had complimentary mint tea enjoying the views from the terrace of the Hotel Continental followed by lunch at a very nice restaurant picked out by Thami. Then we enjoyed a walk through both old and new town areas discovering parts of the city that I know we would never have found on our own especially in the wonderful medina. Thami seemed to know everybody! Visits to spice and fabric shops were included but with no pressure to buy. Thami took time to answer all our questions and we had a really enjoyable and informative time. Highly recommended.Wonderful day in Tangier

Four of us had a private tour with Thami that was wonderful. He communicated with us ahead and time and was always quick to respond. He has a lovely manner about him and is very knowledgeable. He is a good story teller and we enjoyed learning about his beautiful country. The camel ride along the beach was an absolute highlight, as was the welcome to the country with mint tea and a traditional Moroccan treat at a lovely view point. We had a very enjoyable time with “Chop-Chop” the nickname for the guide who was replaced Youssef, who we originally booked with. “Chop Chop” knew every nook and cranny of Tangier and showed us to the non-tourist and tourist places to see and take photos. He was very affable and showed us around the city and stopped periodically to show us on the map exactly where we were and what we had covered. He took us to places to appreciate the local artisans such as rug making, woven scarves and clothes, authentic silver. We also went to a spice vendor. All the vendors showed us how their crafts were made. Our tour was enjoyable; he met us at our riad and showed us to a local breakfast place where we could enjoy a local Moroccan breakfast. Chop-chop’s tour was fun and he was very knowledgeable about the city. This tour was what it was advertised as and it fit the description. We would have liked more information about the background stories of the places we visited, but we were able to access that information on our own. Welcome to Tangier

I had already done a tour of Tangiers with FRS and it was so disappointing, we learnt more in five minutes with Youssef about the real Tangiers than we did with the whole tour with FRS. Youssef very friendly and knowledgeable, you get to go where history actually happened. We was taken places off the beaten track and we wasn’t pressured into doing anything we didn’t want to. The tour was everything we hoped for and more. We all had an amazing experience and we highly recommend him. We have already recommended him to friends who are planning to go to Tangiers. We just spent the day with Thami guiding us on a cultural and historic tour of Tangier and thought he was wonderful in his knowledge, authenticity, and kindness. We booked Thami for the Hidden gems-tour, and we could not be more happy with our guide. He met us at the entrance to the city, walked around with us the whole day, showing us everything he thought we would find interesting, which we did, took photos and taught us the history of Tangier. He brought us to a fantastic, authentic Moroccan restaurant, where we had a great time, and walked us all the way to the ferry before departure. AMAZING!! I booked Yousef Sedraoui last minute for a 3 hour private tour of Tangier. He exceeded all my expectations. He customized it for my interests and made the city come alive with his history and stories. He was so nice and went over and beyond for me in multiple ways but specifically he coordinated a taxis to take me to the beach 30 min away AND bring me back. To top it off, he called when I was picked up to make sure everything went well. WOW!! We travelled to Tangier after first visiting Casablanca. While Casablanca was interesting and full of history, it was overall not a pretty city to visit. There is a reason why many Moroccans and Europeans vacation in Tangier - it is breathtakingly beautiful. It is clean and safe and extremely friendly. Thami made our tour of the Medina enjoyable and fun. He was full of knowledge and knew plenty of locals along our walk. We would highly recommend Tangier as a city to visit and Thami to guide you around!Tangier is a gem!

Best decision we made was to pick Thami as our guide!! We love Tangier beacuse of Thami- we had the most memorable time ever! All the locals knew him well and through out the tour people kept telling us he is the best tour guide! Thami loves his city very much and made us fall in love as well. He took us to all the places he loves and got us to taste the best food Tangier can offer! We enjoyed delicious coffee, pastries, Streetfood, figs, dates and so on!! We got to meet some local musicians, artisans and herbalists. As a part of the tour we went in and out of facinating stores- didn’t feel like we needed to buy if we didnt have to-was grateful for the suggestions as we got some shopping done. We had Hassan, not Youssef as a guide. Hassan is a nice kind man, he told us some historical facts, has shown Medina, fish and other markets in Medina, we went to a bench from the movie “Only Lovers Left Alive” and some other places. We were not in a rush and took our time. After the excursion we asked Hassan to recommend us some local nice restaurant with local music, which he also has done. Let me start by saying that the guide was very kind and knowledgeable about Tangier. That said, this wasn't really what I signed up for. Instead of it being multiple tastings in local spots, I ate at two places: I was given an olive to try at a market and then I had a multi-course lunch at a restaurant. The restaurant, Vandalucia, was a bit hit and miss but I did get a lot of food. The owner was very kind, and wanted to make sure l had a nice experience. I did notice though that the only other people in the restaurant were other tourists being brought there by their guide. I did not see any locals eating there. The guide was also not with me for most of my time at the restaurant, as he went home for lunch. This didn’t really bother me, I just would have liked a little explanation of some of the foods I was eating. I should also mention that I was brought to two stores on this tour. A natural pharmacy and a rug shop. The pharmacy shopkeeper was a bit eager to have me buy something but was still respectful and kind. The rug shopkeeper was very kind and had me know right away that there was zero obligation to buy anything. I just thought I should mention the shop visits because it was not in the tour description. Overall, this was not a bad tour. Like I said, I saw all of the main sites of Old Tangier and my guide was happy to take pictures of me and explain the history. It just wasn’t a very good food tour, as it felt like I was just shuttled to a touristy restaurant to get a meal in me and then move on to the rest of the tour. For that reason, I don’t recommend against taking this tour, but I do recommend reaching out to your guide beforehand to confirm that you will have multiple stops for food. More of a tour with food than a food tour
