We had the pleasure of meeting Alphe when we signed up for the “ Culinary Kickstart Tour: Lisbon” with six tastes. We thought this would be a casual stroll, stopping at a few places for a taste in different places while having a little chat. Instead, it kicked off with a pithy lesson on the history of Lisbon at a couple stops (sans food) on the way to our first “taste.” Alphe was very knowledgeable and filled with facts! We finally sat down to our first taste about 45-60 min into the tour, and had all 6 tastes at the same restaurant. I think it was because we scheduled our tour for 7p on a Sat - we learned many stop-by places for authentic tastes tend to close by then on weekends. So, we had a mini-meal at the end at an authentic place for all our tastes and had the most fun getting to know Alphe better (after all that history!). He was a very gracious and endearing host! Very informative

We had a fantastic, delicious and informative tour with Angelo! He is really knowledgeable about the foods we tasted and the history behind them, and full of information about Lisbon and Portugal. Angelo took his time with us and the pace of the tour was leisurely -- we stayed longer than the 2 hours. Afterward he sent us a recap of everything we learned, plus tips and suggestions for other places to visit. The price of the tour was really reasonable for the experience. Ângelo was fabulous! I would give him 20 stars if I could. I cannot imagine a better way to start seeing/experiencing Lisbon. Ângelo's "Lisbon Culinary Kickstart" tour was perfect in every way. He met us at our hotel. His tour was very well-organized and thought-out. He was very knowledgeable, engaging and personable. He took us to several interesting and beautiful places. He gave us a global view of Lisbon, as well as some interesting/relevant history that wasn't too dense. And the food stops were spot-on. We tasted traditional Portuguese food/drink and culturally diverse food. He's a self-described foodie and has excellent taste. Ângelo shared our tour itinerary with us, including links to the restaurants/cafes, which was very thoughtful. He goes above and beyond for his clients. He even sent me restaurant recommendations when I asked him a week after our tour. I recommend that everyone take Ângelo's tour on their first day in Lisbon, after recovering from any jetlag. We spent a lovely Sunday afternoon exploring some of David's favourite eating/drinking spots in Lisbon. As a native of this wonderful city, he was able to show us some out-of-the-way eateries where very traditional plates are created and served; from Bifanas, to Pasteis de Nata, to Portugese Fried Green Beans. As we wound our way through the narrow streets, David clearly explained the history and traditions of Lisbon. Ending our culinary explorations with some delicious home made gelato was the "icing on the cake"! David's passion for Lisbon and food was very evident and we highly recommend David as a knowledgeable and entertaining food guide.

Our family (myself, my husband, our 3 year old, and a baby) recently had the pleasure of exploring Lisbon with the incredible Angelo, and we absolutely loved the experience! What made our tour truly exceptional was the way Angelo tailored the tour to our group and was able to engage and entertain our toddler while providing us with a fantastic exploration of Lisbon's history and food culture. We did the tour on our first day in Lisbon, which was a great decision. Angelo showed us the best ways to get around the city and taught us about the local cuisine and history. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. My husband and I booked this tour to take as soon as we arrived in Lisbon, and it was the perfect intro! We got a feel for how the city is laid out, learned more about the history of Lisbon, received insights to how to navigate the city without having to hike ALL the hills, and scoped out some places to visit, all while sampling some of Lisbon's best food and drink! We cannot recommend Ângelo highly enough! He was punctual, friendly, very knowledgeable and kept a great cadence for the tour (packing in information, but always keeping us fed and hydrated), invited our questions, and sent me a ton of information after the tour that helped us fill in some of the blanks in our remaining Lisbon itinerary. We have never done a tour with Withlocals before so maybe expectations were too high. We were redirected to 6 guides before the final one was settled on which was strange. The food and wine were very, very small portions - you would need to eat before or after this tour. The walk around was interesting.Hmmm

We thoroughly enjoyed our food tour with Sonia and wish we could take more tours with her. Definitely the best guide in Lisbon. She showed us many beautiful places (and viewpoints from above), accompanied by stories and information (and good food). We got a very good idea about Lisbon from different aspects. (She also filled in many blanks that were left out by another tour.) When we come back (and we will come back), we will only have Sonia as our guide of Lisbon. We loved everything about the tour and it was the highlight of our trip. I wound not leave Lisbon without taking a tour with Sonia. David hat beide Touren so individuell auf uns angepasst, dass wir zum einen nichts doppelt gesehen haben und hierbei auch die Culinary-Tour auf beide Tage verteilt wurden. Auf beiden Touren hatte man nie das Gefühl auf einem Stadtrundgang hinter einem Guide hinterher zu laufen, sondern man ist mit David gemeinsam durch Lissabon geschlendert und und hat dabei "echte Insider-Tipps" bekommen. Hierbei gab es keine Fragen auf die uns David nicht die gewünschten Informationen geben konnte. Alles super, gerne immer wieder: "Volle Punktzahl" :-) 2 mal David,...2 mal super :-)

We had the best time exploring Lisbon with Pedro! He was super friendly and knowledgeable - it was like a food tour combined with a historical and cultural walking tour. Pedro had planned a great route for us and took us to some beautiful sites. So many of the places we wouldn’t have known about and would have walked straight past. We also wouldn’t have known what to order so it was great that Pedro sorted everything out for us (including skipping long queues). Pedro had a story/ narrative for each thing we ate/ drank which just made it so much more of an experience. The food stops were perfectly timed/ spaced throughout the tour. Pedro showed us great short cuts throughout the city and made a point of orientating us at each stage so that we benefited from knowing our way around the city by the end of our time with him. We had a fantastic time on our food tour - it was fun, informative and extremely delicious - and can’t recommend Pedro highly enough! Brilliant birthday with Pedro!

We thought this was just going to be just a foodie tour but Pedro had an amazing historical background of knowledge of Lisbon. In addition he took us around downtown area and showed us amazing views. I did the culinary kickstart tour with my 6 year old son in February. This is the best tour to start your Lisbon journey. I could not be happier with the entire experience. Angelo is an amazing guide and person. Entire time, he was professional, informal, caring and friendly. He shared so much info about the history, culture, traditions, ways of living, as well as the food that this tour is way more than a food tour! It was clear that he meticulously planned the route, tastings - to choose the most delicious and authentic experiences! He started sharing suggestions from the moment we booked, continued during the tour, as well as after we finished the tour. Angelo also wowed me with his ability to interact with children so elegantly. So much so that the tour was meant to me 2 hours, but we ended up doing 4 hours! I could not have imagined my young son staying engaged so long, and was only possible with Angelo’s amazing communication style and ability. This has been the highlight of our Lisbon trip. I would recommend this tour with Angelo to anyone, especially on day 1/2 of their stay, but especially to those with kids, this is a unique experience! Best tour, food and beyond, esp with kids!

Atele began the tour with giving us some information about the history of Lisbon We walked to a cathedral and to our surprise a choir was singing it was lovely. We then heard from him about restaurants in the area He took us to a charming tavern We had a lovely meal with wine. Atele also gave us several recommendations for activities and restaurants to try for the rest of our stay. I would recommend to take the tour with Atele at the beginning of your stay in Lisbon.
