An incredibly fun and fascinating morning spent with Gennaro. He thoughtfully rang me in London a couple of days before to sound out what we wanted to get from the tour, so by the time we met on Saturday morning I felt we were already friends! We had an amazing food tour in Naples with Ettore! He’s a true Neapolitan and his passion for the city really showed throughout the tour. Not only did he introduce us to delicious local food, but he also shared so much about the history and monuments of Naples. Getting to experience a little piece of the real live in Naples. Kind guide with load's of experience. Our kids ( 7 and 9 year's old) loved this experience. It was there top choice of 5 days in Italy! My oldest loves food and tasting it was a joy to watch. I wasn't feeling too great that day and it was nice to feel seen and getting taking care of. Thanks we will visit Napels again, but than make it a longer visit.Local foods for foodies

The food tour included a great historical and customs tour, and the guide was very knowledgeable of the local area. It was just my friend and I, so a very personalised tour. We had a fun time exploring Naples with Donatella on the Culinary Kickstart Tour! She introduced us to Neapolitan food: street foods portafoglio and cuoppo; babà a favorite dessert and sfogliatelle a breakfast pastry. Although the tour was to have 6 food stops, after 3 stops we were so full that we spent the rest of the time touring the city center and historic area. She shared with us stories and insights which made our layover between Sorrento and Rome much more interesting and productive. Our tour was booked in July which was 2 months before our trip. The night before we were to do this tour, I get a text from original tour guide saying he can't make it. He was able to secure another tour guide, but I did not know who it was until the morning of the tour (9/16) as I was traveling to Naples. Nothing like a little stress? Our tour guide we ended up with was fantastic. We purposely booked this tour the first day we were in Naples, so that we could learn something about the city and get a lay of the land. I have learned there is no better way to learn about a culture than by getting to know its food. Our tour took us down narrow streets as we learned the history of Naples and its culinary traditions. We tried cuoppo which my family calls the cone of fried food which was surprisingly yummy. We had the freshest buffalo mozzarella and we went back to the store later to get some more. We were taken into the pizzeria where we could watch where our Neopolitan pizza was made and cooked. It was here that we also were able to eat fried pizza. And one of the most enjoyable stops was when we went to a little shop to try ragu and we got to interact with one of the employees. Our tour guide was generous and if there was anything we wanted to try or have scones of, we could. Our tour guide turned a day that started stressful as to not knowing who our tour guide was going to be to a fun and relaxing afternoon. Eating our way through Naples

We had a truly wonderful tour with Alessandro. He revealed layer after layer of the city to us. It was apparent that he tailored the tour to respond to our interest, showing us the hidden secrets of the architecture and such an interesting insight into the social history of the city. And the food of course was wonderful!!! Alessandro was charming, relaxed and super knowledgeable. Do not miss this. We recently had a tour with Paolo, who was very kind and accommodating. We chose the experience with 6 tasting. He informed us that August 15th is a national holiday in Italy, meaning fewer restaurants would be open. Despite this, we couldn’t change our plans and went ahead with the tour. So instead of going in the market area we stayed in the central region of Naples. The tour itself was interesting, but for the price we paid, the food provided was minimal. We were four adults sharing a portion meant for two. First tasting was a small bowl of bocconcini we had to share, then we stopped at a place where the drinks were 1euro while we were waiting for 2 pasta dishes we shared amongst the 4 of us. Wine was also offered at the same store that did the drinks. The wine was quite disappointing, which was surprising for Italy. It felt like the guide’s goal was to spend as little as possible. We then stopped for sweets and had our own pastry which was recommended by Paolo. I was looking at another pastry but it was 2 euros more, Paolo brought this extra pastry to share amongst the 4 of us. We also enjoyed coffee. Although Paolo offered to order more, it felt a bit awkward as we would expect we would not have to ask. On a positive note, Paolo kindly offered to drive my parents back to the hotel, which we appreciated. Overall, while the experience was pleasant, we felt it was overpriced for the culinary experience we received. Knowing what we know now, we wouldn’t have booked it. I have read from other people’s comments they ate too much food and it was not our case.Street food tour

Our tour took us down narrow streets and into stores we wouldn't have even spotted. Our guide knew the streets, restaurants and people so well and made us feel very special. Our group contained a cheese-hater and a pescatarian and adaptations were made without hesitation. We learned about the city's history as well as her culinary traditions. The food was delicious and a great introduction to food in Naples. I was very pleased we booked this for our first day so we can make the most of the great recommendations. Neapolitan food is more than great pizza!

We loved our walking tour with Nino. We enjoyed the combination of history and food! Nino pointed out so many things about Naples that we would have missed on our own. Alessandro is very passionate about his home town! He showed us so many interesting things that are pretty hidden unless you know where to look. We knew Naples was known for food, but Alex went way beyond a basic food tour and was able to weave culture and history into the tour and keep it interesting. We did tours in Rome, the Vatican, Pompei, and Barcelona, and our 18 year old said this tour was the highlight of our trip. If you travel with a 17-19 year old, you know this is high praise. Lolll. We did a tour today in Barcelona and met some new friends. As soon as they said they were going to Naples, I recommended Alex right away! We had a group of eight of us on our historical walking tour and pizza-making class with Gennaro. I can't express how incredible our experience was! In all, we spent four hours with Gennaro, first with a walking tour of the Old Town, where we learned about the millenia of history that make Naples what it is today. We had two kids in our group, ages 10 and 12, and Gennaro did an exceptional job of making sure they followed everything and were involved in every detail (like when we went into a special shop that makes very unique Neapolitan nativities out of cork) and had all their questions answered. We learned about the historical gates of the city and went to the old fish and food market street. It seemed like everywhere we went, everyone knew Gennaro! He was kind, fun, and took every details into consideration and control, which was great in a city as busy and sometimes overwhelming as Naples! There are so many words that I can use to describe how amazing the pizza-making class was at Gennaro's apartment, but here are just a few: delicious, special, memorable, fun. I would take that class again! We all learned so much and enjoyed every moment of it. In all, I can't recommend Gennaro highly enough. Your group will enjoy your time with him! And we thank Gennaro for helping us with details that made our day in Naples even easier, such as helping to manage our luggage storage and transport. Initially we were considering taking the tour with the audio guide- but finally decided to have a tour guide and I am so happy we did. We scheduled a private tour for a small group of five. The tour ended up being one of the high points of our trip to Italy. I would highly recommend booking a private tour for Pompeii. There is so much to learn and so much ground to cover in a trip. We were in Naples for only one day and wanted to get a feel for the city and experience the great food available. We were only in Napoli for one night and this was a fantastic way to see some interesting sights, learn about the history of the city and sample some amazing food and drink in 3hrs. Roberto is so knowledgeable and is clearly a local celebrity. We tried authentic pizza, fried fish, ragu, buffalo mozzarella, rum baba and more. We are history enthusiasts that were keen to have a more detailed tour of Naples & its founding origins. For this reason we sort out a guide that had an in-depth knowledge of Naples history and not the basic history. Gennaro was charming, relaxed and comprehensive with our tour, accommodating my wife’s inability to walk long distances ( with frequent breaks at cafes.) Gennaro covered not just the written history but frequent anecdotes about historical figures and their influence in the city’s formation. Gennaro is an entertaining conversationalist.
