I arranged a tour with Debora that split half Hidden Treasures and half Culinary Kickstart for myself and a friend in Split. It worked out really well, we met Debora and had a glass of wine and some savory pastries while we discussed what we were interested in seeing. We then strolled around the Diocletian palace neighborhood, learning about the complex history and Croatian culture. Debora was smart and fun. It felt like hanging out with a good friend. Linda was an excellent tour guide. She is very responsive before the tour via text. Happy to answer all of our questions and met us at the cruise ship gate. Her English was perfect. She was kind and knowledgeable. She really made us feel welcomed to her home city. We learned a lot, which made everything more interesting. Linda was the consummate professional before, during and after our tour. She made sure to address our wishes right from the beginning of the tour. She obviously knew all the relevant history, but the best part was how it was delivered. She told so many stories and those tend to stick better rather than just dates and facts. She knew exactly where she wanted to take us, so we were not wandering around aimlessly. As we explored the palace inside and out, she also pointed out places to eat and shop. She had stories or reasons to go to these shops and restaurants as well, which helped in our later decisions of where to buy unique gifts and eat amazing food. Linda also had input about our next stop and we will be sure to follow her suggestions again. She knew where all the best places to take photos were and took many for us as well. Josko was amazing! Our friend recommended him and we were not disappointed. It was very easy to arrange a time to meet him (over WhatsApp). He was on time and accommodated that we were running a little bit late. He was very conscious of the hot weather and made sure we were always in the shade. He was super nice and funny and had great historical anecdotes and pointed out lots of architectural features we would have otherwise missed. He gave us great recommendations for around town, too. And we loved the history he shared, it reignited our interest in the Roman Empire. We would 1000% recommend him to any of our friends visiting from the US!!!Amazing tour by Joško

With the leadership of a dedicated guide, our eyes were opened to the wonders of Diocletian’s retirement palace and the world within it. Josko is a lover of history and shared that with our group. He had lots of material beyond the average guide and a great sense of humor, too. He kept the energy up even on a 38 degree day. We have done several of these 10 tastes tours in different countries. This was by far the least organized. We spent most of the time at a cafe where Debora had brought items from the grocery store or bakery near her home. We then walked through a market (without sampling anything), then walked around town reading menus (again without eating), and finally stopped for a sandwich which was very good. This was extremely poor value for the price and overall a very bad tour. With that said, Debora is a very nice person with a lovely personality. I had a sense she had never led this particular tour.Unstructured and Not 10 Tastes!

Joško Zović was a phenomenal guide. He is engaging, informative and full of interesting facts. The tour was 2 hours and the time flew by. He has such passion for the city of Split and the history behind it. He was also very aware of keeping us in the shade during the heat and allowing us to sit on benches where available. A group of 4 of us did a walking tour with Josko Zovic and all agreed that the tour was the highlight of our visit to Split. Josko's guidance through the palace and well-paced review of the history helped us visualize the palace during it's prime, and gave us an understanding of the political and religious influences. He pointed out Roman architectural detail that we would not have appreciated without a guide. A favorite spot in the tour was in the People's Square, which Josko called "Time Square", with Greek, Roman, Mideviel, and Soviet architecture all coexisting in one location. We had a great time with Josko! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to have an entertaining and interesting introduction to Split’s history and culture from someone who genuinely loves his hometown and is passionate about sharing it with all visitors. I took my elderly mom, aunt & uncle and they were all raving about how this was so much more interesting and different from the standard tours they had been on previously. Josko not only has the knowledge, but he uses engaging storytelling to get us to enjoy learning about Split, Diocletian, Roman history through the Middle Ages to now. Well worth it. Darko gave us a wonderful tour of the caves, which is highly recommended and not accessible by the bus tours. We almost had the caves to ourselves and it was breathtaking and so serene. De tour hadden we veel meer van verwacht. Voor het grote bedrag wat we hebben betaald waren we niet 3 uur maar 2 uur bezig. Hij was veel sneller klaar. Daarnaast was het niet 10 verschillende hapjes en of drankjes die we hebben gehad, maar minder. En maar 1 drankje en voor de rest wat hapjes, waarvan er ook een stukje chocola bij zat. Wij hadden hele andere verwachtingen bij dit bedrag. Darko kan leuk vertellen dat wel, maar wij hadden het gevoel dat er meer inzat voor zo’n groot bedrag en dat nu niet is geleverd. Oke maar niet fantastisch

Darko met us down by the waterfront and walked us all over old Split to see the highlights. He has an excellent background and is very knowledgable about the ancient and modern history of Split and Croatia. At our request, he talked about the GOT sites and took us to the synagogue. We stopped at a traditional bakery for a cannoli. We enjoyed our tour!
