Day Trip to Tarragona in Barcelona - 16cf55b3447f2a4288a110acf24dcb09

Spend a day in Tarragona located only 100 km south of Barcelona. This lovely town is not to be missed!

On our private tour I'll make sure you hear all the great stories of this beautiful place and see the best spots there!

Tarragona is the former capital of the province of Tarraconensis which has its own Amphitheatre and ancient forum archaeological site. You can't help but fall in love with the place when you arrive there!

Wander through the streets of Tarragona, right by the city center and enjoy the history surrounding you! From the popular street of Ramblas to La Rambla Nova, where I can recommend tasting such as delicious cappuccino, sweet treat or an ice-cream. It's all up to you!

As we will pass more than 10km of beautiful sandy beaches on our way to Tarragona, you are more than welcome to request that we take a stop anywhere you prefer, enjoy the sea breeze and take amazing photos! We can also take a stop at Arc de Barà or the wonderful Sitges. Just let me know!

*Optional things to do in Tarragona: On our way to this lovely town, we will pass by some small local vineyards and cavas (champagne). Let me know if you would like to make a stop and add a vineyard tour.

Also we can add a stop on a renowned chocolate factory that has been gifting us with their delicious products since 1840.

Antonio brought our family on a lovely day long adventure to Tarragona & Pinedes. Our first stop at the Simon Coll chocolate factory was a big hit with our daughters. Tarragona is a beautiful seaside town with amazing Roman ruins. Then we had a lovely lunch in Villafranca before finishing the day at the excellent Pares Balta winery. Antonio was engaging and made great conversation the whole day. Highly recommend!Lovely afternoon in Tarragona & Pinedes

Antonio provided a tour that included a peek at Roman history in Taragona and the surrounding area that we could not have found or appreciated on our own. We stopped at a a Roman Arch and a quarry outside of Tarragona that few tourist would know about. We were guided to a lovely lunch with fresh fish (more expensive than we would have preferred), but with outdoor seating. The lunch added a lot to the cost of the tour. A Look at Roman Life

We started our tour quite late--there was a mixup in time and Antonio forgot we had made it an hour earlier, plus he had a car problem. It was hard to understand him at times, but not too bad. It was a super hot day, and we really needed a quick break for lunch, but he made a reservation for over an hour later at a fancy place, when all we wanted was a sandwich. (He did take us to a better place where we got great sandwiches). Other than too much standing in the sun talking, it was a pretty good tour.A Decent Tour

We had a wonderful day with Antonio. We saw Roman ruins in Sitges which was a nice little beach town. Antonio then brought us to Tarragona where we saw more ruins. We walked through the most interesting areas in both towns where we could appreciate the unique character of each location. Then we enjoyed a typical lunch and later we arranged with Antonio to visit a wonderful winery where we enjoyed a wine tasting experience. It was a long and great day. My hat is off to Antonio who was both knowledgeable and pleasant to spend an entire day with.Tarragona and Sitges

Antonio was incredibly pleasant and accommodating. He is full of local knowledge and enthusiasm. He showed us many sites we would never otherwise have found including an ancient quarry and an aquaduct. He also took us to a chocolate factory with the most amazing hot chocolate! He was generous enough to drop us at Reus airport at the end of the tour for our flight home and even collected us from our accomodation at the beginning of the tour. Lovely genuine gentleman Superb accomodating host

Antonio was very knowledgeable and provided us with information that you wouldn't get on a regular tour. This helped deepen our appreciation of the history and culture of the area. Also, having a personal tour allowed us to focus on the things that were of particular interest to us. We highly recommend Antonio.Wonderful day visiting Tarragona and Sitges

This was our first experience “With Locals” and we hope it won’t be our last. Antonio was fabulous! A wealth of information about Tarragona and the culture of Spain in general. Tarragona is a beautiful well-preserved ancient Roman city. Antonio graciously stopped a chocolate factory on the way to Tarragona and at a seaside restaurant on the way back to Barcelona. For a truly authentic and informed tour, seek out Antonio!!! Much thanks to him and With Locals for providing such a valued tour!!One of our BEST days in Spain!

I requested a personalized tour to go to Poblet monastery and Tarragona. Although Poblet is not one of Antonio’s usual destinations, he got back to me about the cost and scope of what could be done to see both destinations in a day tour. We followed a Spanish language guided tour at the monastery, and then Antonio acted as our guide at the Roman ruins in Tarragona. With ANTONIO we were able to quickly navigate the ruins, spending time in areas that were most interesting to us and driving by areas we didn’t want to walk through. ANTONIO was very flexible in terms of giving us detailed explanations where we needed it (the ruins) and free time to walk around and see the cathedral and medieval town on our own. ANTONIO is an excellent driver, and it was nice to travel by air conditioned car between destinations. Personalized tour - Poblet & Tarragona with Antonio

Worst Guide Ever! I picked Antonio as our private guide to Tarragona. I even changed our schedule just to book him because of all the great reviews. I had quite a different experience, a negative one. We had 5 different private guides during our trip to Barcelona. Antonio was the worst of the 5. Yes I agree he is very knowledgeable about the history and culture of Tarragona and Spain. But I found him to be rude and disrespectful. When we got to Tarragona, we stopped at a sight. My husband walked away to take a picture when I asked a question. Antonio said we should wait for my husband to return before he answered the question. I thought, what a nice guy. But then realized whenever I walked away, he continued to answer all of my husband's questions. This was pretty much how the day went. Antonio catered only to my husband and only answered my questions if my husband was around. We stopped for lunch at about 3. We asked Antonio for recommendations. My only criteria was not to eat anywhere too touristy. Surprisingly, he didn't have a go to place to recommend. Most guides have a handful of places they send their clients to. Antonio did not. We just went to a square and picked a spot. On our way to lunch, I told my husband how disappointed I was in our guide and how he had ignored me the entire morning. Over lunch, while we were waiting for our food and when I walked away, my husband expressed my disappointing experience to Antonio. I did see a change in him after that when we were in Sitges and noticed him trying to have a conversation with me while my husband walked away to take pictures. At this point, I think he was mad at us for the comment and cut our trip short. We did not go to a winery or a chocolate store as other guests had mentioned on their reviews. (He knew my husband collects wines and I am a baker). Sorry, but I can not recommend Antonio as a guide. We travel a lot and have shared many great experiences with our guides. Antonio was the worst guide I had every hired. He should spend a day with other Withlocal guides like Lusi, Sebastian or Lluis and learn how to be an amazing guide.Did not enjoy our day with Antonio

Antonio was great. He oicked us up in front of our hotel on time. We stopped in two towns on the way to Tarragona. He shared a lot of information about the area, economic, pilitical and cultural. We also had a great history lesson as we saw many Roman and Midieval ruins in Terragona. We also visited a winery on our return to Barcelona. It was very informative and the wine was great. Great job Antonio. Great day

Antonio was a very good guide. He took us to places we would not have gone without him. We feel like we really got our money's worth. The With Locals program is great for someone who is not from the area. This is the only suggestion we can offer to change things is to offer have lunch where the locals eat.Amazing Service

We were very interested in seeing the Roman ruins in Tarragona, and booked a day trip with Antonio. He picked us up on time at our Barcelona hotel, and our Tarragona tour turned out to be the highlight of our 10-day visit to Barcelona and area. Antonio is a safe driver with a keen interest in the area and its history and a willingness to cater the tour to our interests. Roman highlights of Tarragona include the Roman arch, quarry, amphitheatre (a must-see), circus/museum and theatre, and a beautiful walk beside the City walls. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Antonio - if you let him know what your specific interests are, he will make sure the tour is tailored to them.Memorable tour to Tarragona

Antonios is one of the best tour guides I've ever traveled with. He made our schedule super flexible and tried to meet our needs by changing the sequence of destination and adjusting the time spent on one site. He's also very knowledgeable and passionate about the trips he offers. We talked a lot about the history of Tarragona from Roman times to recent years, and his interesting facts and stories always made us want more. He also gave us many valuable suggestions about traveling to other cities (more than 10) in Spain. I would definitely recommend Antonio to anyone who's eager to find a bit more behind the tourist cities and sites around Barcelona. Amazing local guide

Antonio is a down to earth guy and you could feel he is passionate about what he is doing. He knows the history well, and is flexible, accomodating to suit our needs (we are a party of 4). He recommended some delicious Spanish cuisines for lunch and we had entaining conservation, learning more about the Spanish culture. Our group had a great time at the end of the day. I would recommend Antonio to anyone who is looking for a professional, yet with personal touch experience while visiting Barcelona.Pleasant day trip to Tarragona

We took Antonio’s day tour to Tarragona from Barcelona. He agreed to meet us at 10:00 rather than 9:00 in the morning which was a good thing because our flight from Lisbon to Barcelona was late and we didn’t get to our hotel until about 2:30 in the morning. Antonio picked us up promptly at 10:00 at our hotel and we started our drive and tour to Tarragona. We found Antonio to be extremely knowledgeable and had lots of interesting facts about thing we were seeing. We stopped at several old Roman ruins on the way to Tarragona which we found to be very interesting. Since my wife had a few mobility problems Antonio modified our tour accommodate our needs. We had a wonderful lunch with Antonio and during lunch we decided that we would like to visit a winery and do a tasting of Spanish wines. He was very accommodating and arranged it on the spot. We stopped at a wonderful organic winery on the way back to Barcelona. He returned us to our hotel about 7:30 that evening. All in all we had a great day with Antonio, his English was excellent and we would recommend him highly to anybody. Great day out of Barcelona

Out family of four went on a tour in Antonio's car to Tarragona. Antonio was there to pick us up exactly on time. He is so personable and full of knowledge and like a good friend we had in Spain. He was very flexible and always kept our interests and our choices ahead of everything. He showed us and explained us about the amazing Roman amphitheater, the horse racing circus, the beautiful old town, the Jewish quarters and the city walls. For lunch he took us to this amazing Spanish buffet restaurant which was one of the best buffets I have ever eaten; apart from countless food choices there were also some meats and seafood grilled in front of you and served. Worth every euro spent. Next he took us to the gorgeous coastal town of Sitges. We walked around among hundreds of years old structures and had coffee at a nice little cafe. He was very accommodating when we needed time to shop, he also went ahead and got his car to us so we didn't have to walk all the way back to the car park. I highly recommend choosing Antonio as your tour guide if you have to visit any part in and around Barcelona.Incredible Tarragona trip

If you are staying in Barcelona, don't miss Tarragona, where the Roman Empire built remarkable works. And, to my mind the best way to see Tarragona, is to hire Antonio to drive you there, and explain it all. He brought us back to Barcelona through Sitges, which was also really interesting to see, and from there we took a road back which hugged tall cliffs over the ocean. It was just beautiful. The next day we bumped into Antonio at the Montserrat Monastery, with a friendly, happy smile on his face. Our day trip to Tarragona was one of the highlights of our Barcelona trip, and Antonio made it special. Best Way to See Tarragona

Well what a great day we had with Antonio he picked us up from our hotel and we spent the day in Tarragona 1.5 hrs from Barcelona. Antonio was well informed on this area and took us to many old Roman tunnels, old water viaduct and many other Roman places. We had lunch in the old square near the town hall and then traveled along the coastal road stopping very now and then. My wife and I really enjoyed our tour of Tarragona with Antonio! He picked us up directly from the airport in the morning which was convenient since we couldn't check in to the hotel until the afternoon. We found Antonio to be very friendly, knowledgeable about not only the individual sites but also the town and culture. Antonio has the right personality to be a tour guide - He was very engaging and I would think he's very inquisitive/curious feeding his thirst for knowledge which in turn he loves to share with tourists. Really enjoyed the old sites! The lunch stop in Sitges was a good break as there was a lot of walking during the tour. All in all, I highly recommend this tour with Antonio!Great tour of Tarragona!

Antonio is a friendly, intelligent and very engaging person and we enjoyed our day with him very much. He was exceptionally accommodating and gave us a thorough and personalized tour of Tarragona. He was knowledgeable about what sites to see and let us set the time we spent at each site as per our interest. He met us at the hotel and offered us numerous options and then advised us how to set the best schedule. We got to set how much time we lunched and when to rest. The only reason for one heart down was my son is 6'3" and the transport was a bit tight. For local tours in and about Barcelona you could not get a better more accommodating guide. Antonio was very kind to accommodate our request to begin our tour at 7:00 AM as we had other tours scheduled in the afternoon. When confirming our reservation, he stated his preference for starting later. Given our schedule we were committed to the early departure. Antonio was a little late when picking us up and it took him a while to "wake up". After coffee and a pastry, he was informative and accommodating (he really worked hard to make the experience enjoyable for us). He showed us the locations of many Roman ruins in Tarragona, pointed out places of interest in the city, and took us to Stiges for lunch on the beach. We had an amazing day. Tarragona is a "must see"

Trip was great! - Host Antonio had good knowledge about the local places and history, was able to fit in everything we wanted to do. I do suggest if there's 2+ people on the trip, not to go in the Citroen cabriolet without the bonnet as it's way too windy in the backseat on the motorway. (would be perfect for around the city though) Was really good to get out of the city and see some of the countryside - Thanks Antonio :)Daytrip to Tarragona

Antonio arrived at the pick up point earlier than requested and patiently waited for us. He is such an expert in all things Girona. I highly recommmed him to anyone who needs an in depth review and expert on Girona. I was initially uninterested in discovering more but Antonio just started to whet my appetite and he slowly weaved in the culture and moved on to the really unique places in Girona. To the extent, I fell in love with the town eventually. I can totally imagine myself living in. Antonio is truly a gifted tour guide, and I would highly recommend booking with him above anyone else. He felt like part of our family, and we are so grateful for everything he had planned for us. We were traveling as a family with two small children, and I cannot emphasize enough how nice it is not to have to worry about logistics when wrangling children. Not only was everything planned out at a pace we could all keep up with, but every consideration was taken into account. And Antonio is so easy going and informative about the area and history. He showed us places we would not have thought of, and a restaurant we would have never found on our own that was so delicious! Truly a wonderful experience, and I hope to come back and book with him again. Exceptional Guide & Day trip to Montserrat
