Based on previous ratings, we initially had high expectations, Paolo seemed very enthusiastic and engaged at the beginning. Later at the apartment where he was cooking, the only drinks available were two bottles of sweet red and white wine without a label, plus tap water served in a plastic household container. When asking for alternatives, no other drinks were offered or available. We had to go to a small store ourselves to buy some wine, bottled water, and beer, and we had to pay for these additional drinks out of our own pocket. Although Paolo was in the small kitchen cooking, he didn’t interact with us very much for the rest of the evening. The food itself was okay, but nothing special, and we had to wait a long time between courses. Overall, the experience did not match the price we paid, as the value for money was disappointing.A bit disappointing

Not so much a cooking class as an evening, shopping, dining with locals. Simple authentic food. So fun getting to know Paolo and experience an evening that felt more like a casual dinner party. Our event took place in students/younger folks shared apartment, glad for it. Highly recommended. A highlight of our trip. I would repeat. A fine evening with Paolo and friends!

My husband and I spent the last night of a 4 week European trip with Paolo. What a fun and informative experience and something so different. We had the most incredible experience with Paolo during our traditional Neapolitan dinner! From start to finish, he was attentive and knowledgeable. Paolo guided us through local stores to select fresh ingredients, making sure we had input on what we wanted to include. His explanations of each ingredient and the dish we made were thorough, and his passion for Neapolitan cuisine really shone through. The dinner itself was outstanding, both in taste and in how comfortable and welcoming the whole experience felt. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide or a more authentic Italian evening. How do I start to describe the joy of spending time with Paolo and his friends? This was the most beautifully Neapolitan experience - warm, chaotic, deeply authentic, absolutely delicious. From the moment we (a couple with 8-year-old twins) met Paolo, he was sharing his passion for and his knowledge of his home city. We started by visiting a market to buy ingredients for the meal we decided on together, then headed over to an apartment in the historic centre where Paolo and Anna Maria demonstrated dishes including a cooked antipasti and a gorgeous seafood pasta dish. We discussed food, drank wine (only the grown ups!), chatted, listened to music, ate until we were ready to burst and left happy, with a heart full of memories, a list of recommendations and friends for life. Paolo is an absolute Napoli original and knows much more about the city and it‘s people and culture than just about the local food. We took us to the market and showed us where he buys locally which was very nice. Than we cooked at an apartment and shared food and wine with his local friends which again was super nice. I had an amazing time with Paolo. We went through the markets to collect the ingredients for our meal, and all the vendors who knew Paolo were extra nice which made it an even better experience. Paolo is certainly very popular in his home town. The cooking class was really fun and all his friends were very warm and hospitable. I could talk about all sorts of life things with them as it was such a comfortable environment. Paolo is an amazing chef and host with deep knowledge of the city. It’s always fantastic to have a local guide with you, but Paolo is certainly one to ensure your experience is enjoyable in every aspect. Highly recommend! Beautiful Experience

I would highly recommend this experience. Paolo made me feel very comfortable and was very knowledgeable about all the local cuisines. We came up with a menu together, taking into consideration I am vegetarian. It was a hard decision for me to make bad Paolo had so many delicious suggestions. We went to the produce markets and a Patisserie in the Spanish Quarter . When we went back to Paolo’s beautiful apartment his his friends were there and the girls were so lovely and welcoming. They really made me feel like a long lost friend. It was such a relaxing friendly environment, I really felt that I was visiting a friends house for dinner. Paolo included me in the cooking process and why and how they cook the way they do. So simple I could cook this at home but really delicious. So much food I could hardly finish it all. We drank wine and talked liked friends do on various topics. If you want an expensive with warm, friendly, knowledgeable locals in Napoli . This is the experience for you. This was so much fun. Highly recommend!

Paolo, Ana Maria, and Alessia were super kind and fun! We made delicious yet simple dishes that were interactive and easy to bring back home. My girlfriend and I were in Naples for a couple of days and decided to take this cooking class with Paolo on our first night there. It was such a fun night! We started with trying to figure out what we were going to cook. My girlfriend is quite a picky eater, but Paolo was great at suggesting many different things. Once we decided, we walked down the crowded street to find go to the different shops to get all of our ingredients. Then we headed back to Paolo's to make everything with a few of his friends. The food was amazing, and it was really nice to be able to hang out with people from the area. I would 1000% recommend this to anyone else traveling to Naples, and wanting to get more of an intimate experience on life there. I had such an awesome time learning Neapolitan cooking with Paolo! From the minute we met, I felt like we were old friends. We discussed what dishes I wanted to make, then we walked around various markets in Naples as he purchased the freshest ingredients for our evening of cooking. Once we began preparing the dishes, he explained everything we made in great detail, making sure I understood every step. He went out of his way throughout the evening to make sure I was enjoying myself (which I was!). I even got to meet some of his friends who were also extremely friendly! Wow…What an authentic and memorable experience that was a highlight of our trip. It was unfortunate that Paola had to cancel his participation due to an unexpected conflict, but provided us with the option to cancel, reschedule, or keep the existing reservation with his collaborators. We opted to keep our confirmed date and had an outstanding experience with Alessia, Ivanna, and Sylvia. We so enjoyed their insight and enthusiasm of Naples. They created a unique customized experience and menu that I was able to assist in preparation at their home (not required). As we walked through the fabulous Pignasecca street market, they showed us the bounty of fresh ingredients available, introduced us to their favorite purveyors and developed each of the 5 courses to meet our expectations. Although we missed meeting Paolo…Alessia, Ivanna, and Sylvia were so personable, entertaining, and talented cooks. My wife and I cannot stop talking about this fabulous experience. What’s better than going to a friend’s house and having them prepare a home cooked meal for you with freshly curated ingredients, sharing good wine, interesting conversation and lots of laughter? There is nothing better! Paolo created this experience for the four of us creating a 5-course meal that was better than any restaurant could have offered and, what’s more, he shared his friends with us who were simply delightful university students. There was an instant connection when we met Paolo to start our evening of shopping, cooking, and eating. As we strolled, we learned about each other, met some shopkeepers, and figured out the menu. Went to this tour and really enjoyed the company of the hosts. I did the tour with a friend - we are both food lovers, and we were not disappointed! Paolo (and Nando) were very attentive and full of conversation and help. The aperol cocktail got us started and the trip around the market shops to buy the produce for our meal was a real highlight - we were shown the best fish, pasta and vegetables to buy and how they would be used. We were then taken back to the apartment and the meal was cooked, eaten with wine, and the conversation flowed. It was a really fun evening. From the moment Paolo and Nando introduced themselves the conversation and enthusiasm flowed like a river. We discussed various pasta possibilities, considering our menu before heading to the market. Paula is allergic to fish and walnuts. No problem. We had too many choices already Paulo said. Walking through the market reminded me of trips to the West Side Market in Cleveland with my dad. Paulo wished everyone Merry Christmas and they laughed, hugged, caught up, and critiqued the day's produce. Do we like eggplant? Yes. Do we know the taste of friarielli? No. Later at Nando's while preparing dinner (they cooked, we watched, listened and asked questions) we figured out friarielli is rapini (broccoli rabe in the US, cime di rapa in Puglio). Paulo's disquisition on the preparation of 'orecchiette with sausage and friarielli' was detailed and clear (Julia Child couldn't have done better). He explained how this recipe was consistent with ( and different from) other elegant preparations of Neapolitan vegetable pasta mista. For example, cooking pumpkin, chick peas, or potato together with the pasta (secret: the water level is key). Fry the rapini with olive oil and add salt early to extract the water (interesting). The antipasto, wine and the pecorino-graced orecchiette makes my mouth water even now. The conversation drifted to friendships, places to visit, world affairs, and inevitably back to pasta, wine, and dolci. The evening is bottled in our souls and we will pull it out, pop the cork and imbibe, for the rest of our lives. Thank you Paulo and Nando!Food memories for a lifetime

My husband and I did this in November and met up with Paolo and Valaria around one of the local churches. As soon as we met them it felt like we were with old friends. It was super easy to talk to them and learn about the Napoli culture. We walked through the area and grabbed a Aperol Spritz from a local bar. We ate taralli snacks while sipping on the spritz. We then went to Nando's place and Paolo and Valaria cooked a nice meal. It felt so comfortable and we were so excited to learn more abut Paolo/Valaria/Naples. My friend and I had a blast with Paolo and Nando. After we met, we strictly went to a nice bar for an Aperol Spritz to discuss the menue. The food market was not only fascinating for its delicious food but also for the familiarly friendships they have with the sellers at Pignasecca market. Last but not least, the food we cookee was absolutely delicious and prepared within minutes. They showed us some basic tricks how to get out the most of the musles sauté and the pasta dish with shrimps and greens! Our experience with Paolo was exceptional. We truly enjoyed our evening! First we went shopping for fresh ingredients including wine tasting. Then we went to Paolo’s house where he cooked a delicious meal including ante pastas, a delicious potato pasta and dessert. And of course plenty of wine. We met Paolo a bit later than usual, but the rush through the market to pick up ingredients before they closed was enormously fun and entertaining - the vendors were charming and we laughed, A LOT. Then we went back to the apartment and had an amazing dinner and even more amazing evening with Paolo and his co-host. That night was the highlight of our two-week honeymoon in Europe! We will be back, and we will be calling Paolo again. I feel like we made lifelong friends that night. If you can, do it. You will not regret a single moment!The Highlight of our Trip!

I really mean it, guys. I’ve been to Italy numerous times and having a market tour and dinner with Paolo and his co-chef Nando is one of the best experiences I’ve had! The guys are so open, nice, friendly and ... just awesome (so is the food we made together). Hope to come back to repeat this experienceOne of the best experiences ever
