What an absolute treat and delight to spend the afternoon with Helena. She knows how to get around the town. From contemporary street art that I would never have found to the inside story of some of the classic portions of Old Amsterdam. Helena had it all at her command. Great trips on places to dine or grab a beer. There's no way to describe what a wonderful opportunity it is... The best part is - she will customize the experience to be exactly what your group would like for it to be. I've been on a lot of walking tours in many cities around Europe as this one is Tops. Helena met me at my hotel lobby at the prescribed time to begin our tour. She took me to so many places I wouldn’t of seen ordinarily. She’s very knowledgeable, and the kind of person that you feel comfortable with. She becomes much of a friend! We had an enjoyable lunch at a quaint restaurant that she picked out that had excellent food. Helena definitely knows Amsterdam. I had so much fun on this windmill and that factory cheese tour with Olga. She is very friendly and knowledgeable. I got to see the windmills and learn all about their history. I got to visit at Judge cheese factory and try all the different types of cheeses they had. I also got to see how wooden Dutch shoes are made (very cool). She was so polite by holding my bags when I wanted to take pictures, waiting for me to pick out souvenirs, waiting for me to enjoy some ice cream, and etc.. I almost twisted my ankle while walking with her and she literally stopped me from falling on the ground. She was also nice enough to offer to pick me up from my hotel versus me having to pay a taxi. Marten was a wonderful host with a lot of really interesting stories! We loved hearing about some history of Amsterdam and specifically about the area we were walking through. We had a great time walking around the Albert Cuyp Market sampling different food. My favorite was the warm, fresh stroopwafel, but everything we tried was delicious! In hindsight, my family would have appreciated at least one stop where we could have sat down for a bit to eat (we were with my in-laws), but that didn’t detract from the great experience we had. I had alerted Olga to the fact that I walk rather slowly using a walking aid. Olga set a gentle pace but nevertheless we covered the principal sights as well as some special corners of central Amsterdam. Olga combined historical facts with fascinating background material. Elvina met with us at short notice and the weather was awful, very wet and windy, however despite this she was friendly and cheerful. Our walk through the red light district was interesting and informative with a welcome pit stop halfway round for traditional Dutch apple pie. I strongly recommend this tour as a way in to the city. And give Olga my highest recommendation as guide. She was very knowledgeable, professional, with a good sense of humor and timing, and lots of fascinating tidbits about the city. I was worried that 3 hours might be long, but she timed it well and filled it with exactly the right balance of history and culture and architecture and art, so that it flew by. Arum was nice and knowledgeable about the history of local foods. It was mostly a stroll through a local street market, tasting an eclectic mix of Dutch and ethnic-inspired Dutch foods, though we ended early due to exhaustion on the part of some of our group. We tried delicious “Pom” sandwiches, Gouda cheeses, Dutch pancakes, and unexpected pairing of Dutch apple pie and draft beer, fried fish (we declined the herring), and ended with bitterballen. I don’t think this was a foodie’s “best of Amsterdam” tour, but rather an introduction to different foods found here that you may not encounter elsewhere. Arun spoke quickly and softly so it was difficult at times for some in our 6-person group to hear what he was saying. Having said that, we didn’t all do an especially good job sticking close by, though we did have to ask him to repeat himself a few times for those who couldn’t catch his words. If we had been a bit more energetic I think it might have been more fun, unfortunately we had had a long day and ran out of steam before we got through all the stops. The thing most important to know is that this is rather eclectic in terms of the order of tasting things - from cheese to butter soaked sugar cakes to beer, so prepare your stomach accordingly. And be sure to bring water to wash it all down. Good intro to Amsterdam Int’l Food Scene

Vorweg möchte ich erwähnen, dass Marten ein netter, sympathischer Tourguide ist und viel Wissen weiter vermittelt. Die Foodtour führte kurz durch ein Stadtviertel und fand vorwegs auf einem Markt statt. Die Auswahl an Verkostungen war jedoch recht mager - von Fisch zu Süßem und dann wieder Fisch, Süßes und zum Abschluss Käse - und wenig abwechslungsreich. Was auf jeden Fall fehlte waren Getränke während dieser 2stüngigen Tour! Mussten wir uns selbst besorgen. Als Resumee: für diesen Preis hätte ich mir mehr Auswahl und Getränke erwartet. Toller Guide!

History aspect of the tour was great, Olga showed us a lot of cool things we wouldn't have known about. Her personality was unapproachable though. She was quite dismissive if we asked questions, kinda giving us a "duh" answer when we asked everyday life questions. Robotic with her story telling. I really like withlocals and this was the first time I am writing a poorer review of someone. For reference we are mid 30 year olds from Chicago. Good history but unpersonable
