Rita was an amazing guide for our day exploring Sintra! I expressed my dream of seeing Peña Palace and Regaleira in one day. Rita expressed worry about the achievability of this plan, but was willing to try to make it work! We made it work! It was an enjoyable experience, though a bit of a workout! Wear comfy shoes! After touring the beautiful grounds of Peña and Regaleira, Rita took us to a delightful place with beach access for lunch. We had hoped to make it to Cascais as well, but ran out of time. Rita was willing to hang with us as our kids enjoyed the beach. She was engaging with the kids - perhaps because she has two kiddos that are similar aged. The day felt like spending a day with a friend. She shared with us her love for the area, which made the tour a great learning and fun time! This was our first time in Portugal, and the day with Lius was one of the best experiences we've had! He communicated with us before the tour and accommodated with a later start and ending due to personal reasons. We never felt rushed. He was highly knowledgeable about the history and the details of everything. He provided history along the way, an added bonus! He also gave us a brief but nice shopping break in Cascais. Alexandru exceeded all expectations. My wife had a sore ankle and Alexandru adjusted the day's trip to Cabo da Roca, Sintra and Cascais to minimize the walking. What a fantastic experience with Rodrigo. From the moment we booked our tour Rodrigo was engaged in planning our day. We had the ultimate weather day for our tuk tuk tour. His suggestions on how to tour around pena palace was spot on for us. The views were amazing. Rodrigo was always there when we were ready to head to the next spot. The stops along the coast were breathtaking. He gave us great info about the area. We enjoyed a late lunch at one of his favorite places. Loved the views, food and time to relax. Lisbon was our last stop on our week in Portugal and we definitely saved the best tour for last. Luis was friendly, engaging and very knowledgeable. If you plan to go to Sintra (or any tours from Lisbon) we highly recommend booking with Rui. Terrific communication from the get-go. We wanted to see the Quinta da Regaleira and Cabo da Roca. Rui worked with us to plan a perfect day. He was on-time in a clean comfortable van. Knew walking shortcuts so that we didn't get caught in the crowds that are the norm in Sintra. Provided insights and info as we walked and answered our many questions about Portugal and Lisbon. The thing that really stands out is Rui's personality, which is delightful. Friendly, comfortable, easy going while still keeping us on track for our very full day. He even added a stop as he drove us back to Lisbon because we hadn't yet been to the Monument to the Discoveries. (Well worth seeing!) An investment to do a private tour? - yes. Worth every penny -- Absolutely! PS - The trains were on strike when we were in Lisbon but because we had arranged with Rui, we didn't have any worries. Best decision we made on trip to Lisbon!

We did not have Luis. We had Jorge. Luis had such fantastic reviews and I was really looking forward to his tour. However he had another commitment so he offered another guide in his place. I didn't want to cancel and try to find another tour since it was only a few days away so he suggested Jorge in his place. Jorge was nice and provided the standard tour but I feel we could have seen more. Jorge might be used to having tourists stop to shop, have lunch and admire scenery for extended periods of time but we wanted more tour experiences. We did not even see the Pena Palace which I was looking forward to. It may have been different if we had communicated with Jorge directly before the tour.Sintra Tour

We had a wonderful day trip to Sintra. Even though Pena Palace was closed, we had a great time checking out the main town and Regaleira. We had a delicious lunch and then headed on to the windy ocean overlook and Cascais for gelato. Our family of four (two kids) very much enjoyed all the sites and trivia and getting all of our questions answered throughout the day. The trip was tailored to our needs including a different pick up and drop off location to fit with other activities we had planned. We also had some questions before the tour that were promptly answered and helped us in planning. And we got some tips for things to check out the next day on our drive south. Wir hatten eine traumhafte schöne Führung mit Luís! All die Informationen über Geschichte, Hintergründe, Entwicklung der Stadt und auch persönliche Erfahrungen der eigenen Familie wurden so kurzweilig und interessant rüber gebracht, dass es von Anfang bis Ende spannend blieb. Vorab schon gab es eine tolle Kommunikation, wo wir nach Wünschen und Ablauf gefragt wurden. Auch die Restaurant Tips unter Berücksichtigung der genannten Unverträglichkeiten waren Gold wert. Eine davon haben wir gleich nach Ende der Tour umgesetzt und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Man hat gemerkt, dass Luís sein Job Spaß macht. Uns wurde weitaus mehr geboten, als wir erwartet hatten. Sowohl inhaltlich, als auch zeitlich. 1000 Dank für diesen tollen Tag! Einfach perfekt!
