We booked the tour to get an overview of Da Nang and Hieu was already very helpful in the booking process. He layed out the different tour options and made sure he had the right hotel to pick us up. Even a last minute hotel change wasn’t a problem. The tour itself was very good. Because Hieu came with his own car we could leave stuff in it at the different stops and Hieu even had water for us in the car. We change the plan during the day, because we had already seen some places. Hieu knows the city very well and came up with a different route for us. While drinking a coffee at the end he also answered all our questions about Da Nang and gave some great tips. Hieu’s English is excellent. Thanks again Hieu!Great and flexible Tour

As a "Việt kiều" (Vietnamese person living abroad) I'm quite skeptical when it comes to tour guides and I'm cautious about being scammed or falling into tourist traps ... But I'm happy to say Hieu was a fantastic tour guide! We initially chose him because of his friendly and clear communication. He made some good recommendations on what to see / not to see and he was able to tailor the tour based on our interests. On the day, he was a few mins early, the car was spotless and it felt incredibly safe to be with him. My nervous system was able to relax because he was always thinking ahead for us (he was prepared for the rainy weather, he made great local food recommendations, provided plenty of water, regular bathroom breaks and he knew how to avoid crowds at busy times). He never tried to upsell anything and didn't try to make extra stops to earn a commission. I really appreciated this as it allowed me to relax and just enjoy the tour. Hieu was also extremely knowledgeable and gave us thorough explanations and lots of insight into the places we visited. We were able to ask questions and have some interesting conversations about Vietnamese history and culture (I learnt a lot). He also knows where all the best photography spots are which is fun and helpful. Highly recommend!

Hieu is a great host - highly recommended! I am currently 6 months pregnant and traveling with two elderly folks, he was really attentive and considerate and paid a lot of attention to our needs. Hieu is punctual and his English is probably better than mine - speaks great English! Hieu makes good food recommendations too and we loved everything he recommended especially the Bun Cha which really took us by surprise! When I’m back in Danang I’d definitely look Hieu up again. I only had a couple of free hours in Da Nang so booked a personal tour with Hieu. He kindly picked me up from the airport and drove me to the Cham Museum (Hieu’s knowledge was excellent), then we visited the local pagoda which was next to the museum and went over the Dragon Bridge to take photos of the Dragon’s head and also the Love bridge. Hieu was a great guide, his car was comfortable and tidy, and he was a really safe driver. Definitely a 5 star + experience!!Great experience with Hieu!

My wife & I would very much recommend any tour with Tony as his knowledge and recall of facts is second to none. He brought his tour to life with lots of stories and anecdotes and the day flew by. His car is immaculate and his driving extremely safe on the crazy Da Nang roads, we always felt safe and happy in his company. Tony was very entertaining and engaging and knew when to be the tour guide and when to leave us be in our thoughts. He is also a very honest person as I left my expensive sun glasses in his car by accident and when he found them he came all the way back to our hotel to return them in person. You may pay a bit more for With Locals tours but in my experience you get what you pay for and that is certainly the case with Tony! Great guy, highly recommend! Would give 6 stars if I could!Great day with a very knowledgable guide!

Hieu is an experienced, professional and friendly tour guide that is also very responsive. When I was looking around for a tour guide, he was very responsive and was quick to provide a quote for consideration. Although I was worried about the weather since there was an airport closure quite close to my travel date, he was quick to reassure me that all was good for travel on the dates that I'll be there. On the day itself, he was friendly and professional and it was comfortable traveling around with him. His experience and expertise shows, as he was well prepared for bad weather (it rained heavily on and off while we were up on Ba Na Hills) for the both of us. As I was still recovering from a bad flu and cough, I was appreciative of his attention to detail - he sensed that I was struggling to keep moving due to the number of stairs/hills I had to manage on the tour and suggested we skip some parts to take things easy. This is my first time with Withlocals and I had a pretty mediocre experience, unfortunately. I thought the price was pretty expensive for what we got. Hieu was a very nice gentleman, who was on time and patient. He waited for us to install a pretty difficult car seat into his car. He was also pretty quiet, and reserved so we had to ask questions to get some history and context of Vietnam. Nothing really stand out in the tour to Hoi An for us, we stopped by a temple and wasn't given anything history besides the fact that the frame of the door was written in Chinese. I think it's important to really have a plan for a tour like this and actively point out interesting people, food, streets, stores etc. as we go along. We really felt like we were with a driver more than a tour guide during this trip. A pretty expensive tour for what you get

Hieu is a great tour guide and speaks excellent English. He managed to avoid all the queues at Bana Hills. We thought Bana Hills itself was underwhelming. It’s a Vietnamese Disneyland (nothing wrong with that if that’s what you are looking for) and the Golden Bridge is more of a theme perk attraction than an iconic landmark. Also the weather was so bad we couldn’t see a thing. But Hieu was a trooper and made the day enjoyable. So 10/10 for Hieu and 5/10 for Bana Hills. Tony is exactly what we hoped for in a guide. The tour was from Hoi an to My Son Sanctuary and Marble Mountain for my husband and me. Tony was prompt, extremely helpful, a great driver, personable and knowledgeable. My husband and I spoke English only and Tony understood and spoke very good English. Hieu was a wonderful host, and was able to really adjust and adapt the tour to the needs of our group of 17 people. He fed us so well (by the last stop we were just sharing 1 plate of chicken rice amongst 4 people hahahah while others had basically given up on eating) and also shared a lot of fun, interesting facts about Danang, Vietnam in general as well as the origins of Pho! And all the food places were really good, locally patronised shops - not tourist traps! He was also able to accommodate all kinds of dietary preferences - including specially ordering rice cakes to be delivered to one of the locations as one of my friends had no alternative options available at the shop. I would just recommend that he considers working with the shops to have sample sized servings of all the food; then we can fully enjoy all of the tastes that this tour had to offer.Recommended, customisable tour

I loved the places we visited (all the store owners were welcoming and kind) and Hieu always went above and beyond to ensure I had the best time possible. We had the best day out with Tony. We saw some of the amazing history of Vietnam on our tour of Hue, which was the capital city from 1802 till 1945. Fascinating time visiting the Historic Citadel, Thien Mu Pagoda, incense town and the mausoleum of Emperor Tu Duc. Tony was very knowledgeable about all the history but also we really enjoyed asking about all the little day to day things and how they compare to home. He was able to explain a lot of cultural aspects of Vietnam and the differences from different regions. Tony’s English was great and his SUV was comfortable and clean. All in all we had a fantastic day and would recommend him to anyone wanting a detailed and interesting tour. Fantastic day out with Tony
