She was methodical and patient with 2 true beginners. We learned many useful phrases and how to conjugate verbs. Really enjoyed our 2 hours at Bar Monti! I can understand many conversations around me but still am somewhat shy to speak. Just need to practice more.Emma is magnificent!

Emma was extremely experienced and we managed to learn and pick up the basics Italian within few hours! She brought us to a really nice and relaxed restaurant with great drinks! Her class is very easy going and relaxed. We truly experienced the authentic Italian culture with her. The learning materials are amazing and she is very patient to us. We got carried away and the class was overrunning but she was kind enough to cover all the topics before ending her class. I am definitely considering to go back and learn Italian from her!!! I cannot recommend Emma highly enough. I’m so glad she was our teacher. Emma took us to a local bar and the owner was very kind. He created an environment where we could practice our Italian skills on him. Emma came with training aides which were helpful. My friend and I had several years of Spanish which helped us more quickly understand some of the words. However, having a previous romantic language is not required. I definitely plan on coming back to Italy and when I do, I will schedule more time with Emma. I plan to take some Italian lessons at home so hopefully Italian will be much better. If you want something interesting AND useful to do during your time in Rome, please schedule a language lesson with Emma. Emma uses a very effective, colorful teaching method. My husband didn’t know any Italian; now he feels much more confident on the long road to fluency and so do I knowing a little Italian. Emma also took us on a walking tour in a very nice, quiet and green neighborhood with only students and local people. Fnally she introduced us to an Enoteca with magnificent wines and local food. If my Latin treacher had 10% of Emma"s teaching attitude when in was young. I would have have been able to speak Italian since 1976. A must do , and a great teacher to learn with. My daughter and I were very happy to be invited to spend an amazing four course luncheon on Christmas day, in Emma's home, with guests from many other countries. Everyone spoke English, which worked well as a common language, and we had a delightful time. Emma explained each course she had prepared and we all talked about the holiday customs in Italy and other countries. She served different wines with each course and a collection of desserts, including a wonderful gluten free cake. Emma very thoughtfully had both gluten free and gluten options for the guests, as well as a vegetarian option. Emma is a thoughtful and gracious hostess. We had a wonderful time spending our Christmas in Italy with her and hope many others are able to partake in her hospitality.Christmas at home with Emma!

We had originally signed up for the wine and Italian lesson, but Emma invited us to celebrate Christmas with a group of guests instead. We had a lovely time, feasting on traditional dishes from across Italy and learning more about the culture and traditions. Emma was very responsive to messages and accommodating for food sensitivities (there was a vegetarian in the group and a person following a gluten-free diet). We booked two events with Emma and we were so happy that we did! The first night we were in Rome we met Emma for wine and an Italian lesson. It was really fun and she taught us some basics that we used during the rest of our trip. The next night we went to her home and enjoyed a delicious meal that she prepared for my husband and me. When she found out that she was from the same region where my grandparents were born, she prepared food typical to that region and even served a wine from my grandfather’s town! It was very special for me. We had great conversation and the food was excellent and plentiful! If you want a true Italian experience eating, drinking and learning the culture you should definitely spend time with Emma! She is fabulous!Fabulous Time with Emma!

I just returned from a 3 week trip to Italy and Greece. On the very first night of my trip, hours after I'd landed in Rome, I met with Emma for a "learn Italian and drink wine" experience. It was wonderful! I knew that trying to learn Italian in detail was more than could be expected in such a short time, when I'd had so little time to work on my own before the trip. I asked Emma to teach me important phrases, but also to help me with culture and customs, so I could be a good guest in Italy. She was a HUGE help. It was also just a really fun evening in Rome, with delicious wine (I discovered a new favorite - Recite Della Valpolicella) and great conversation. I highly recommend this experience to anyone considering it!Perfect introduction to my trip!

Emma was just so lovely. We booked for New Year's Day in the evening. So many places were closed so we walked about quite a bit but Emma was great, she persevered until she found somewhere we could sit down and have a glass of wine! Wow - I had high expectations, but Emma even exceeded those. Emma is warm, bright, and personable. She was in contact with me to confirm plans early, and when I had a last minute change she was very flexible. We met in the section of Rome called Monti, which I was not familiar with, so this was an added bonus. We started the lesson with a walk around Monti - speaking only in Italian. My sister and I can speak well enough to be understood, but far from correctly. Working with Emma was like having a conversation, with someone gently correcting you along the way. She was always kind and constructive, and explained to you the reasons for the error. We stopped to sit at a lovely spot, and Emma had a great structured lesson. It was geared perfectly to our level, and my sister and I really learned a lot. We finished the lesson at a little wine bar, and both my sister and I were a bit sad that we had to rush off - it would have been very easy for us to hang out with Emma. We both felt that not only did we get a great lesson, learned a new part of town, but we also made a new friend. If I could give her more than a 10 I would. Absolutely amazing!!!

Emma was excellent, they relaxed at a bar while speaking Italian for over 2 hours. Emma is an excellent teacher. She took her job very seriously and took the time to make me familiar with the basic concepts of the Italian language. She was very adaptive; she was able to set the level so that it met my needs. Emma pushed me to practice what I'd learn. She'd put me on the spot in different shops. That made the lessons stick. Walking, talking and having coffee with a language tutor was the smartest thing I did on my first day in Italy. Emma B is a learned professor and wonderfully friendly person. She arrived with a small, fun and informal lesson plan. She presented nouns, verbs and colloquialisms that provided me with enough confidence to adventure out on my own. I was provided with phrases that are indispensable if you plan to tour Italy by rail or bus. I learned language the enabled me to be polite, rather than just a goofy american lady. A really interesting concept for practising and learning Italian by strolling past the historical sights of Rome and talking about what you see. Emma is really friendly and puts you at ease, and a really good teacher. The walking format makes it feel less like a typical 'classroom' experience- learning conjugations and tenses is less painful when you're doing it outside the Colosseum and talking about gladiators! Our dinner with warm and charming Emma and her family at their apartment was one of the highlights of our trip to Rome.
