We learned a lot about her beautiful city during our time together and she was very kind about sharing insider tips to make the rest of our trip equally wonderful. Romana painted a picture of what life is like as a local during the tour by sharing information about her family’s history in Dubrovnik in the context of the history of the city itself. We especially appreciated her tips on buying the Dubrovnik pass, how to get to Mount Srd and how to use public transportation to get back and forth from Lapad. Our adult family of four toured Dubrovnik on a busy weekend day, and Romana made our tour feel very private and special. Her pride in Dubrovnik and her passion for its history is evident, and we loved seeing the back alleys and hidden gems like the local spices and foods in the home of a Dubrovnik shopkeeper. Romana was absolutely fluent in English and speaks faster than I can which meant you learned so much in the 2 hour tour. We had a private evening tour of Old Town Dubrovnik with Jelena and enjoyed it thoroughly. She is very knowledgeable about the centuries-long history of Dubrovnik and shared so much with us. Not just about Dubrovnik, but about the war in the 1990's, the communist period and its long history as a leader in world trade and culture. We learned about her own experience as a child growing up in Dubrovnik during the 1960's and were fascinated by her insights. Wow! She is such an amazing person and a really great tour guide. I would recommend her to any one traveling to Dubrovnik and especially recommend a personal tour. We asked lots of questions and she had the answers. She was very attentive to our own needs. Hearing his personal stories about growing up in Dubrovnik—including his memories of the 1991 bombing and life during the war—was something we’ll never forget. That first-hand perspective gave so much meaning to everything we saw and made the city come alive in a way no guidebook ever could. Marko is a natural storyteller, full of personality and warmth. We booked this for our first night in Dubrovnik to help familiarize ourselves with Old Town more quickly. Ramona was punctual and knowledgeable. She took us to three different places where we tried local bites and drinks. Over our next days in the city we revisted one of the restaurants and relied on much of the info she shared with us. We had the most incredible day exploring Dubrovnik with Marko as our tour guide! From start to finish, he was friendly, knowledgeable, and so much fun to be around. We started our day walking the iconic city walls, and Marko brought the history of Dubrovnik and Croatia to life, answering our many many questions with enthusiasm. And gave the Game of Thrones fans among us some info too! After the city, we headed out to Lokrum Island for a really fun lunch at nice restaurant where we accidently fed the wild peacocks some lunch and then had fabulous kayaking tour with Marko showing us beautiful coastal caves and getting to do some cliff jumping. Excellent introductory tour to the beautiful Old City of Dubrovnik. Interesting references to the War of the 1990’s from someone who remembers it well and can explain his own feelings and experiences. The Old City is very busy, even in early June, so I would recommend an early morning visit if possible, definitely if you’re doing the City Wall walk. Fascinating, enjoyable tour.

Jelena might be the best person to give a tour of Dubrovnik and an additional background of the Game of Thrones filming in the city. She brings her personal knowledge and experience as a journalist, as a native to the area, and as someone who lived through the homeland war to talk in depth about the history of the city. She was also present in the city when Game of Thrones was being filmed and has fun, personal anecdotes and pictures from that time. Overall, this was an extremely worthwhile introduction to the city. We had a wonderful experience to the Game of Thrones tour. clearly passionate about our guide, Jelena, was incredibly knowledgeable and extremely passionate about the Dubrovnik and Croatian history, which brought the location to life just beyond the location spots. She kept an easy comfortable pace throughout the tour and was always considerate of the group, often stopping at shaded areas for breaks as it was during the summer when we visited.
