Tanya knew all the good locations and gave us many recommendations on food during our stay. All of the recommendations we tried were great. She changed the meeting place to our hotel which made things easier for us. We had good communication before the event and her English was very good during the event. She knew a lot of people and places and the few locations with authentic Norwegian food. She was also very informative on the history of Norway. Ihor was a fabulous guide and adapted the tour to our needs and tastes of the group which included 1 vegetarian, 3 octogenarians, and at least one flighty one. He kept us together and provided some really cool insights to Oslo as well as the food that I had no idea existed. (Not giving it away, you'll have to take the tour yourself.) I highly recommend this tour if you have some time in Oslo. Ihor was an awesome guide as well. We had a great time on our food tour with Ihor. He’s very passionate about history, art, and architecture, and we got a glimpse into that on our tour. It was a nice mix of sightseeing, a bit of history, and of course food! We tried some fantastic cured meat, a traditional Norwegian waffle, some wonderful salmon sushi, and some fish stew and traditional Norwegian meats. Karlis is an extremely warm and knowledgeable guide about Oslo and the food scene. He is so adaptable to what you really want to experience in food. My husband wanted to try traditional local game meats and Karlis took us to a high end food emporium for a local traditional meat experience of reindeer stew and moose burgers. He also exposed us to the local traditional spirits and plenty of local beers. Great person to talk to regarding the culture and people living in and around Oslo. Don’t expect a lot of very traditional Norwegian food because they enjoy Indian, Italian and Tacos. Highly recommend.A great way to experience Oslo

Whoever says Norwegians are cold hasn’t met Karlis, he was right on time, came right to our hotel and brought us coffees ! He even started the tour a whole hour earlier to show us some sites around the city. He custom tailors each tour depending on what you want to eat and leaves a direct line open if you have any questions about anything Oslo after you part ways with him. He wrote down restaurants and sites for us and even brought us a tourist map. When you calculate how much the food costs and how much he has to give to the website you find that the tour is positively cheap. We spent 4+ hours with him and were sorry when we had to part ways. Highly recommend ! Spend your day with Karlis!

We had alot of fun with variety, some nice ideas and concept , shame about the rain which then a plan B would have been better as in an alternative dry place to eat and drink It was actually expensive and we were surprised we paid for the 6 beers in the restaurant at the beginning as had understood it was food and alcoholDifferenet fun food tour

I thought reading it that this was to be more boating, less walking but it turned out to be a fun experience walking on the islands in Oslo fjord. Tanya Lisa is a very nice person, but I think she could improve as a guide in a number of ways. Felt like if I didn’t ask questions we didn’t get a lot of information and in fact over a three hour tour she was asking me what other questions I had more than a few times, so I felt like if I didn’t ask questions I’m not sure what we would learn. When I stopped asking questions she challenged me and said what other questions do I have. Was hoping for more of a guided tour teaching us about Oslo its history and landmarks. Would’ve liked a little more structure to the tour as we had not done a lot of research on Oslo and was hoping to spend the three hours to learn as much as we could. Felt like she was trying to adapt to what we wanted, and we were looking for somebody to lead the way. Very nice person but not the best tour

Amazing food tour with Tanya Lisa!!! She came to our hotel to get us and had a fantastic walk around Oslo, stopping at local food places. Our favorite was the local seafood store and got a taste of every Norwegian seafood and meats you can think off. The owner was a great story teller with a great sense of humor. Our second favorite was a stop at Salmon with a taste of the best salmon I’ve ever had and a history and information on salmon farming. So interesting!! Tanya Lisa didn’t mind that that our time ran over and walked us back to the hotel telling us about the city as we went along. Best tour!!Best Food Tour

We traveled with Tanya-Lisa for a few hours to 3 very different islands. Based upon the other reviews, we think that maybe Tanya Lisa was having an off day. She was nice to meet up with us at our hotel, which saved us time in getting to the starting point. While she was good at pointing things out to us as we walked around, she didn’t have a plan for the tour and it seemed a bit haphazard. Enjoying our food tour with Karliss was like hanging out with an old friend swapping stories and tasting some amazing local food and drink. He introduced us to a wide variety of Norwegian delicacies which were always accompanied by a varied choice of beverages. Our evening was extremely well organized and we were never rushed through our meals. Over the course of our evening, Karliss shared stories about his experiences traveling the world and provided some informative information about Norwegian customs and current events. I arranged this tour for a group of four of us - having very high expectations based on my previous “With Locals” experience. Rodrigo managed to exceed those expectations because of his warmth, his wide range of experiences throughout the world, his knowledge of history and its implications as well as being well versed in current events. Rodrigo was very flexible and accommodating. He was very knowledgeable about places of interest. Prior to visiting Oslo, I knew wanted to see Vigeland Park. Rodrigo was the perfect person to introduce us to this artistic marvel as he has a passion for its vision, the artist and the meaning to humanity. No brochure would have been the same. We also toured neighborhoods, stopping a small cafe, allowing us to get a feel for the daily lives of Norweigans. As a life long educator, I was especially interested in Norway’s progressive and sound policies on parental leave and support for education. We (Americans) could learn a lot from your example. All in all, this was a tremendous tour. If someone is new to With Locals they might question the value. I can assure anyone that it is well worth the price and Rodrigo was outstanding. Rodrigo Exceeded Expectations!

We had a nice time with Tanya, she brought us to many different places and we got a nice variety of food to try. In a couple of places we even had the owner come over and answer questions. Only minor issue would be the amount of walking but I think this was self induced as she made some route changes to show use what we asked to see. Overall a nice mix of food and history NIce tour with some flexibility

We had a truly wonderful few hours with Ihor who took us onto the Oslo Fjord visiting the islands of Hovedøya, Lindøya and Gressholmen. All islands were diffierent; (i) Hovedøya had ruins of an ancient monastery, WW2 bunker and cannons, (ii) Lindøya had over 300 brightly coloured (red, green and yellow) cabins where City folk escape to for a break and (iii) Gressholmen was more of a ‘wild’ island that had less development. This island was our favourite because of the stunning views down the Oslo Fjord and back up to the City. Ihor is a lovely guy, with a lot of amazing stories and his knowledge of Oslo is incredible. The other thing that made the trip is Ihor’s passion for Oslo and this really was engaging. If you’re looking to do something different away from the hustle and bustle of the City then this tour is definitely for you. Just make sure you check the weather and wear the right clothing and footwear - this is a must even if you think otherwise. Oslo Fjords Island Tour
