Luís is both a great cook as well as a wonderful, charming and intelligent host! We experienced that wines and food can really uplift each other when combined in the proper way. Luís is an expert in this! Furthermore Luís knows and shares a lot about the Portugese culture and history and it was really interesting. I don’t want to say to much about the place where the dinner took place (because it’s nice not to know everything in advance) but it is definitely a nice, unique and clean place. Imagine what a shock it was for me, at 55, to learn of a long lost brother! Who was a chef!! In Lisbon!!! If you are in Lisbon you have many opportunities for exceptional experiences. An evening with Luis will put them all to shame. Our party of six are still unable to stop talking about it. Yes, the food and wine are remarkable. Our meal with Luis was without a doubt one of the highlights of our trip. It was not only the delicious food that Luis prepared (an amuse bouche and three courses, paired with wine), but the conversation and knowledge that he shared. As we progressed through the meal, Luis shared context and information about the ingredients, as well as their significance to Portugal which added another dimension to the meal. My parents came over to stay with me for a week. I booked the usual tours, but I wanted to add some random things to make their time memorable. Saw this "private chef" experience and the testimonials were good, so I said why not? My parents loved it. It was probably their favorite event. Normally my mother does all the talking, but my father got involved too. You're probably going to go to dinner every night if you are a tourist and this is something you will actually remember. Luis is a really nice and genuine chap who will keep you talking for around 3 hours whilst he feeds you and pours you multiple bottles of wine. If you don't know what to do one night, you won't go wrong with this. Sure, it seems more expensive than just going to a restaurant, but it's actually great value (if you are worried about prices).Fab evening

Wow, our visit to the Douro Valley with Anselmo was incredible. Our journey began when Anselmo picked us up at our hotel and drove us to the Douro Valley. Anselmo took us through the roads less travel, and we were rewarded with the best views the valley has to offer. Once in the lower valley, we took a riverboat tour through this majestic wine region. Did I say wine region? Yes, Port is king in this region and for a great reason – wines are incredible. The Tawny and Ruby port tastings were absolutely wonderful as Anselmo showcased the vineyards of the oldest Port producers in the region. Next, we shared lunch with Anselmo in one of the most panoramic locations in the valley. The food, wine, company, and views were spectacular, a definite must when visiting the valley. Anselmo accommodated another wine tasting at a cave, which was the perfect ending to our tour. Meine Frau und ich haben Luis in seinem privaten Atelier besucht und wurden von ihm mit kulinarischen Spezialitäten aus der Region belohnt. Beim Abschied hatte ich ein Problem mit der Uber-Buchung. Luis war sofort zur Stelle und hat sich darum angenommen. Schliesslich hat er mit seiner App die Buchung abgewickelt. My family and I had such an amazing evening with Luis. He was an incredible host sharing with us Portugese history and educating us on the various Portugese wine regions and varieties. The meal itself was wonderful with classic Portugese dishes paired perfectly with wines, including Muscadet to end the evening while enjoying desert. We booked the dinner with Luis on our recent trip to Lisbon and it was an amazing experience. The host was courteous, engaging, entertaining and knowledgeable. He responded to our request to move the dinner by half an hour promptly. The food was delicious, the quantity just right and we got to try a variety of wines - from rose to white, red and moscatel, all well paired with the courses. The premises were great as well, we actually appreciated the fact that it was not the host's actual home. Our children loved the experience, as they eat mainly seafood. We were blown away by the whole experience. The fresh fish and Portuguese flavors were simply amazing! Every dish was paired perfectly with a Portuguese wine.
