We had the pleasure of having Yana as our guide in both English and Chinese. She was informative, engaging, and really gave us a clear picture of what Roman life was like before the Vesuvius eruption in Pompeii. We did not feel rushed and she gave us plenty of opportunities to ask questions to further enrich our experience. She was fluent in both English and Chinese and was able to switch between the languages seamlessly. She even helped snap group photos for us in various scenic areas and provided local recommendations for our stay in Napoli! Initially we were considering taking the tour with the audio guide- but finally decided to have a tour guide and I am so happy we did. We scheduled a private tour for a small group of five. Yana met my family of 5 (with 3 teenagers) in a cafe to start our tour of Pompei. We had only booked a 2 hour tour, so she wanted to make sure we got to make the most of it and start before we even entered the park. Despite the crowds, we moved freely and never felt hurried or any stress from Yana at all. Her connections with park staff were clear and her demeaner was calm, inspired and steady. She was so knowledgeable and a great storyteller. She chose a perfect itinerary for the short time we had and for the group members. We felt like we got a thorough introduction to Pompei, and she picked out the most amazing additional sights to move on to without her after the tour was over. I think the only way we could have had a richer experience would have been to spend 3-4 days there to thoroughly get to know Pompei. I can't recommend Yana enough - we felt so lucky passing by the bigger tours with their headsets and the confused looks on their faces! If we are ever able to come back, I hope Yana is available to take us all around Napoli! Thanks again, Yana! Such a wonderful tour of Pompei!

We truly loved our time with Raffaele. I doubt we would have even made it into the site without him as the entrance was total chaos on the day we went and his advance purchase of the tickets and navigation of the entry point made it so much easier. Having a private tour guide really made the experience most enriching and much better than being in a large impersonal tour group. His archeological background and intimate knowledge of the site from having worked at the digs provided invaluable depth and insight into the history of Pompeii and the lives of its unfortunate inhabitants. We were able to experience the most important areas of this immense site in the short two hours we spent with him. His tour was the highlight of visit to Sorrento and the Amalfi coast. It was well worth the cost. If you plan on visiting Pompeii, do yourself a favor and try to book Raffaele! The absolute best way to see Pompeii
