Before traveling to Greece, I felt overwhelmed because the time required to research where to go in Athens. I had never been before and it was important to me to be able to learn about the history, culture, people, food and the authentic life of people in Athens. I wanted a special experience for my husband and I and we only had one weekend together to experience Athens. Markella went above and beyond for us. She made it so easy for us. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide. What drew us to Markella was that she’s a native to Athens, she’s a licensed tour guide and that she speaks French and English fluently (as my husband is French and I am American), it was helpful that she was able to communicate in both our native languages. The tour felt like your best friend taking you on a journey of a lifetime. Her extensive knowledge of Greek history and her passion made this experience incredibly special. Elisavet was so well informed about the Acropolis and museum. She showed us pictures that helped see structures as they were which was so helpful. Elisavet was patient and gave us breather stops up to the top which she filled with giving us information. The view from the top was amazing. Elisavet did not rush us at all. We met up with Alexandros for an afternoon at the Acropolis Museum, the Acropolis & Parthenon and it exceeded our expectations! With a quick smile, lovely demeanor and perfect clear English, we got a master class in Greek history. Alexandros quickly understood our pace, our desire for picture taking and where he should focus to make it great for us - you could spend an entire day just in the beautiful Myseum. Walking the ruins was an incredible experience and his in depth knowledge - of virtually everything - was nothing short of amazing. Without a doubt, the best decision I made in Athens was to book tours through “with locals”! Costas was a fabulous guide for our 3-generation-family on our visit to the acropolis museum and acropolis! We visited at the end of September and it was hot! With guidance from Costas we booked a mid-afternoon tour of the museum first and then finished on the acropolis site in the last session of the afternoon where we enjoyed a setting sun, less crowds and less heat. I would recommend this order of visit to others as in the museum Costas explained the acropolis site, significance, history and mythology. This meant that when we finally visited the acropolis site we had a much better understanding of what we were looking at! With Costas as our guide we were able to search for the artefacts that we had just seen up close in the museum and appreciate the engineering, design, and symbolism so much more. Costas is a fabulous storyteller who shared his extensive knowledge with us and made the acropolis come alive! He was very adaptive and was able to engage my whole family (teenagers, parents and grandparents). He led us to parts of the museum that engaged to children and through his storytelling and explanations left us all with a deep understanding of the beauty, history and significance of this amazing site. Thankyou Costas! You were a highlight of our trip and we feel very fortunate that we were able to discover the Acropolis with you! 10/10!

Evanthia is an engaging, enthusiastic, and very knowledgeable tour guide! Do yourself a favor and hire this guide who started by taking us through the museum after presenting us each with a God’s name. Then as we toured she related the stories to each of us which added a very fun element to the tour! After the museum we walked the hill with Eva who continued to enlighten us. Her passion for history is evident. And wow the photos were amazing as she knew every spot to take the best photos. We enjoyed learning about the history of several areas of the Acropolis site. Very interesting background that you can't get from the placards. Costas was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. It was a hot day but he managed to find some shade for us and kept us away from the crowds too. We did the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum with Costas. Our 6-year-old was a little tired by the end, but the tour was so much fun. Costas was full of facts, myths, and knowledge. He was able to answer every single question we had, except one about electricity prices in Greece (he told me the answer as soon as he got home and checked). My wife and I were very impressed. Markella was fantastic and so knowledgeable. My daughter was 8 years old and it was super hot but Markella was able to make the 3 hours fly by. This tour of the Acropolis with Eva was amazing! Eva is such an engaging and fun guide who joins her experience as an archeologist with her expert knowledge of Greek culture and history. She personalized history with both a little Greek drama and comedy. The Acropolis museum was wonderful and we learned so much from the backstories that Eva would tell us about every object. We were especially interest in ancient medicine and Eva demonstrated her capacity to go deeply into topics of interest. Eva is great with adults and children and she can engage all ages with fun games and interesting facts.
