Valencia is a wonderful city to visit by bike and totally safe as the extensive network of bike lanes means you almost never share the road with cars. We visited with our 10 year old grandson and Marcos adapted the tour so that we all enjoyed it immensely. Marcos is such a nice person and one instantly feels as ease with him and his tour was fun and interesting. There is no better way to visit a city and learn about its history than seeing it through the eyes of a native person. He also gave us very valuable information about where to eat and shop and incidentally, we had the best paella we have ever eaten in Spain in one of the restaurants he recommended. When we come back to Valencia we will definitely contact him again to take us on another tour. Thank you again Marcus we are so glad that we got to meet you! Great guide and excellent bike tour

We booked with Marcos originally for a bike tour with our 3 and 1 year olds. From the beginning he was so accommodating and communicated often in preparation for our trip to make sure our itinerary was suitable for both us and our children. The night before our day together, the forecast showed 100% chance of rain but he insisted we wait to cancel and make new plans the day of if the rain came. Surely in the morning, the rain came but he had the idea of making it a walking tour instead because the sites were close. We were so thrilled that we got to see the city with Marcos still! Upon arrival, Marcos greeted us with open arms and loved talking and playing with our boys 💙 There wasn’t a single question he didn’t know the answer to—I have no idea how he knows everything he does! Our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children ages 8 and 12) did a bike tour of Valencia with Marcos in August. He adapted the tour to accommodate our children and to ensure it was an enjoyable experience for everyone. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the city and communicated it in a way that was very engaging and kept our children interested. It was our daughter's birthday on the day of the tour and Marcos gave us lots of recommendations for lunch and dinner, tailored based on what she wanted to eat, hours of operation and location. We took his recommendations and had two fantastic meals in the city to celebrate our daughter's birthday. We learned so much about the city from Marcos. We had an amazing experience, and we highly recommend Marcos. We felt like we had a friend showing us around Valencia not just a tour guide. He is very knowledgeable and has excellent communication skills. He made our experience personal like we were part of his family. We normally use Rick Steves walking tours form his books or audio guides when we first get to a city, but in this case, we invested a little in getting a guide. What a great tour - I did a private tour so just the 2 of us and we covered everything… from deep questions about history to the best restaurants to go to. We hit all areas of the city and adjusted to my pace… which is a bit faster. I would not only recommend, but would do it again as I am sure there are many more stories that I would enjoy.Awesome day

Marcos gave us a great tour. He had difficult circumstances with the holiday and the power cut but coped with a smile and adapted the tour to suit us. Loved the history and the architecture. Marcos is easy to talk to and it felt more like a friend taking us around the city. He also sent us a load of information and photos afterwards which was helpful for our next few days. Only comment is that it would have been useful to know that some places were closed on a public holiday as we didn’t realise that and may have chosen a different day - but it was not a problem - only reason for a 9 not a 10. I really love Withlocals and try to use it whenever we are in a new city. Super Tour!

I and my 3 children (8y,10y and 14y) went on a city trip to Valencia and I was looking for a kind of guide who could make a tour interesting for children. After a long search I came across Marcos 'family tour' advertisement. He felt good and so I booked his family tour Valencia. It is always a bit exciting, because certainly the youngest of 8 years old does not speak English (the other does well), except for a few words and therefore there is a degree of difficulty to get such a child involved in a tour where English is spoken. However, Marcos was really fantastic and through patience, interaction, but also by paying attention to each child, he made sure that each child understood his story or question. Of course I sometimes translated a bit for my youngest child. What really gave his tour power, was by working with images and a local tasting. I am a culture and history freak myself, but he also fascinated me with his stories about about the city, which was very educational for me too. In 3 hours he took us through the old city and took us to a number of sights. Marcos fascinated us enormously and we quickly formed a bond. This is very nice. It was a pity that he was going on holiday the next day, otherwise I would have booked another tour with him immediately. Marcos also does customized tours if you want that. His communication is very fast, which we Dutch people really like. If you are looking for a quality guide, then Marcos is the right person for you. What a fantastic 3.5 hours. A superb teacher who brought the old and the new of Valencia to life. A history lesson, recommendations on where to go by ourselves and Spanish lessons for my daughter as we toured the highlights of this beautiful city. I felt very sorry for the packed generic tours .. whilst we had a totally bespoke tour catering to exactly what we wanted to learn, taste in the market and plan for other days. We can't say enough good about the amazing tour of Valencia with Marcos. He was the perfect host! We rode through the old town, stopping at sights along the way when Marcos would explain the history, culture, and meaning of each place. He used his ipad to show us photos of old Valencia and how it's grown to the city of today. We also biked through the center of the city and along the park bike path to the Opera House, Science Museum, and the CaixaForum. We felt like we saw so much of the city and really got an excellent overview of its history and geography. Marcos introduced his beautiful city of Valencia to our group of six in October. He kindly met us at our hotel and showed us round some of the key sights and streets of the city plus a few lesser-known ones. The tour ran over by 30 minutes as he was so keen that we didn’t miss out on anything. He also texted info to us afterwards about restaurants and local transport that was very helpful. Our group of 10 experienced the “Highlights Hidden Gem Tour” with Marcos on September 3, 2024 We confused our meet up time with Marcos by 1 hour but we were grateful Marcos was still able to lead us on our tour of Valencia without rushing us even though we had been late. Marcos' passion for his city and knowledge was evident as he proudly led us through the city’s historic area. He answered our many questions and was easy to understand and very pleasant. Marcos is indeed a friendly teacher. My daughter and I took his bike tour our first full afternoon in Valencia when we were jet-lagged and foggy-headed, but he made us forget all that with his engaging presentation. He is very knowledgable about the city and its history and has lots of interesting supplemental photos to share on his tablet. He has a very pleasant manner and is a lot of fun to be with. He clearly wants you to experience the tour that is right for you and your interests. Our tour had to be cut a little short because of a thunderstorm, and Marcos did everything he could to try to reschedule us sometime in his very busy week. Unfortunately, this didn't work out, but was more than made up for by his list of excellent restaurants, which saved us so much time and searching and really added to our trip.
