Nicholas met us at the train station and then we used public transport and walking to see the highlights of Budapest. Although a Budapest resident his entire life, Nicholas speaks flawless English due to having an English father. Nicholas not only shows the top spots but also included a visit to the last remaining part of the Jewish Ghetto from WW2. He also introduced us to real Hungarian food. A top notch guide. We booked Emoke for a 5-hour tour of Budapest. It was our last day of a two week trip through Eastern Europe, so 5 hours might have been a bit too aggressive. Nonetheless, we hung in there with Emmy and were rewarded with an incredible amount of information, presented at a pace that allowed us to absorb it all. We had a prior excursion provided by our cruise company. We asked Emmy to plan our time together without repeating our previous itinerary. She did a great job, showing us some interesting parts of Budapest that helped us understand Hungary's complex and long history. Gabor was friendly and helpful right from the beginning asking alot of questions on what we would be interested in. We learnt so much on this tour . Gabors knowledge and expert way of telling the story of history was inspiring. There were so many things we would not have picked up on if it wasn’t pointed out to us. He even suggested things we could do after the tour and told us how to get home with our newly purchased transport ticket in which he helped us get. We have done many, many tours, some are better than others. So, we have a good sense of what a great tour is versus an okay tour. This 5 hour tour with Gabor ranks with the best we have done. Gabor grew up with a father who is extremely proud of his Hungarian homeland. His dad loves to study the history of the region and imparted that passion to Gabor. As expected, Gabor demonstrated a thorough expertise in history, and had no problem shifting to and from any period, from Roman times to modern history, as we walked through time in Budapest. Gabor is also highly adept at understanding and teaching architectural styles. This was an area we didn't expect to love, but Gabor is so knowledgeable, and so enthusiastic, that we found this part of the walk to be right up there with the historical aspect of the walk. While we didn't express an interest in art, and Gabor tailors the walk to your particular interests, he was able to slip in quite a bit of interesting artistic expression found in the streets. I am certain thousands of people pass by this art every day, and never knowing it exists. Thank goodness for Gabor, because we saw street art that was absolutely fascinating and fun. Another surprise for us was his intimate knowledge of the Jewish Quarter, along with hidden spots in that district that we never would have found without him. We did not expect to say this, but that district turned out to be our favorite part of the tour. The quarter is now a trendy and lively neighborhood, and through his network of friends, he is able to access areas that are generally closed off to the public. In fact, later that evening, we were able to return and "party" in a "ruins bar". He was able to show us the venue during the day and tell us what time to return in the evening to avoid lines. We had a great time and when we left later that night, the line extended for at least a block and a half. As we finished up the tour, he gave us more walking ideas for us to explore for after he left us. He gave us info on what we would see and how best to navigate the streets. And we took full advantage! To give you a sense of how devoted to and passionate he is about his beloved Budapest, We actually went overtime by about nearly an hour! I'm not suggesting he will do that every time, but if you show the enthusiasm and energy to do more, and if he has the time to spare, I get the sense he is more concerned about you loving the experience, then him getting back home to whatever he has to do. Lastly, Gabor is a true gentleman who walked us right to the Metro stop and escorted us down to the train to make sure that we were going in the right direction and could get to the unguided and unofficial part of our tour without trouble. As you can tell, we think the world of Gabor. And we think you will too! My bottom line message to you is if he is available, get him. You will not be disappointed! We Think the World of Gabor!

Really good experience as a first time visitor in Budapest. Booked the 5 hour tour and it was a nice experience. Zsofia took the time to show me round the city with quite a few delightful detours. Cabbage strudel in one of the markets, the beautiful library, the Paris passage and the ruin bar in the Jewish district. And she was so kind, waiting with me for a while to get a taxi. Zsofia has a very chill calm energy which worked very well. The hours went by so quickly and very enjoyable. Would recommend spending the day with Zsofia to show you round. Great tour with Zsofia

We had an amazing tour with Gabor. Not only did he take us to all the main tourist spots, he also took us to places that typically would have been missed by tourists. Gabor is a fount of knowledge. I was traveling solo to Budapest so wanted to book a local guide to show me around. I chose Beata for a 5-hour tour. I chatted with her prior to the tour to let her know that I had injured my foot so would need to take it easy. It was supposed to rain that day, but Beata assured me we would still have fun. She even offered to meet me at my hotel. From the minute she arrived, I felt very comfotable with her. She was very easy to talk to. The tour through Budapest was amazing. We walked all the way through Pest looking at the sights and historic buildings. István was very good at explaining the history and current relevance of each of the primary buildings as well as other statues and parks we looked at. The tour then moved onto the Buda side where we looked at castle hill. Overall the tour was greatly detailed and well structured even with a short notice booking and customisation request.
