Gulay led us on a thorough kickstart tour of Tokyo. We met at the Meiji Shrine and had a great intro to the history of Japan. Learned of Shinto and Buddhist customs. Walked to Harajuku and got snacks, shopped, and dropped in on an otter cafe experience which was great. Took the metro for one stop and walked through Shibuya, experiencing the crossing and Hachiko statue. Gulay helped acquaint us with the metro and JR lines, and gave us ideas for other sights to see in the upcoming days. Highly recommend!Great intro to Tokyo

Gulay was just perfect—personable, communicative, thoughtful, immensely helpful, patient, and flexible. She went above and beyond to provide cultural and practical overviews of Tokyo. She was a tremendous help with navigating every aspect of our transportation needs, including side trips to Hakona and Kyoto. We would have been completely lost without her. Gulay was extremely knowledgeable about our destinations, including Harjuku and the Meiji Shrine. She even brought coins for us to use at the shrine! Such a thoughtful touch. And Gulay was perceptive about our interests and schedule, making just the right tweaks to suit our energy levels and interests. Most importantly, Gulay was extremely accommodating when our itinerary changed due to family circumstances and flight cancellations, and she is the most lovely and relatable person to spend a day with. Carlos was wonderful right from the time of booking. I asked lots of questions and he answered them thoroughly and immediately. He texted us the night before to inform us of his arrival time. He was very friendly and informative. He took us to two wonderful establishments to eat during our 5 hour private tour. He showed us how to use the train lines. I did a three hour food tour with Carlos and it was great. Carlos is easy to get along with and a great guide. He speaks English, Spanish and Japanese. We sampled a variety of food from different shops. Most had lines which told me that the locals like the food. He runs the tour a little outside of Shibuya where the shop owners are more friendly. I paced myself and only ate about 75% of everything. Glad I did because there is a lot of food. If your a foodie, you’ll love this tour. Great food tour

We had asked to see the non touristy side of the city as complete Japan novices and Carlos delivered. It was fascinating to hear his take on Japanese every day life and culture as a long term resident. If you wanted a friend you never knew you had in Tokyo. Carlos is the one. Carlos was great and filled with knowledge of the area. So many places we would not have seen if it was not for Carlos and his grasp of the Tokyo culture. He made our first day in Tokyo memorable. Filled with sites and great memories. Gulay knows so many cool hidden gems which you "stumble upon" as you go to the regular sites. Here's where she really stands above the rest, she literally reads your mind as to what you would like to see and do. Gulay collaborates with you to ensure you have an unforgettable experience. She also goes out of her way to teach you how to navigate Tokyo physically and culturally. She taught us how to use the public transportation system flawlessly and explained proper etiquette. With limited time in Tokyo we booked a 5 hour tour, she customized it perfectly to our tastes and interests. At the end of the tour she took time to discuss places and restaurants she thought we would enjoy exploring on our own, sent us links and gave us directions. She was extremely flexible during our day together and even took us on several short power shopping detours. She knows the best photo spots and took lots of pictures of us along the way. Gulay is kind, patient and sweet. Her English is 100% fluent. I cannot recommend her highly enough. A guided trip with Gulay will be a guaranteed highlight of your trip. Gulay was very warm & friendly and made sure we were comfortable at all times. She gave us options on how we wanted to view the city and was able to add her own interpretation of Japan's history. We had such a lovely time with Gulay. She is friendly, easy to talk to, great with kids and knows her stuff! We had ideas about what she wanted to see but she made some great suggestions for an even better day than I had in mind. She suggested things that would be more fun for the kids and kept us off the subway system as much as possible to maximize our time with her and actually seeing and doing things. This is a fantastic concept for those that just want a fast orientation to Tokyo. Gulay is an amazing, friendly, and fun guide for the entire family. Our family of four (including 2 picky teenagers) loved our time with her. She took us to spots not many locals know about and shared some good restaurants too. We especially loved her tip on trying natural japanese cola and went back a second time. If you are interested in getting a lay of the land in shibuya and the street for sneaker shopping, definitely book Gulay.
