3. 9.00am

   Visit to Kek Lok Si which is the largest Buddhist temple in Southeast Asia, and arguably one of the most famous in Penang. The 30.2m bronze statue of Kuan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy, is yet another popular highlight. 

4. 10.30am

   Visit to penang hill by cable car to enjoy the birdview of whole penang city from (2,733 ft) above sea level and enjoy the breeze of cold air on the top of Penang.

5. 12.30pm

   Lunch time- Try delicious Penang Street Food such as Fried Kuey Teow , Curry Noodle, Asam Laksa which was ranked 7th in CNN’s World Top 10 Yummiest Food and famous Chendol located at Penang Road. You can try variety of street food here

6. 1.30pm

   Visit Penang Peranakan Mansion. It is the typical home of a rich Baba of a century ago is recreated to offer a glimpse of their opulent lifestyle and of their many customs and traditions with over 1,000 pieces of antiques and collectibles of the era on display.

7. 3.00pm

   Head to Clan Jetty, situated close to Penang ferry terminal and part of George Town’s heritage legacy. You will wonder around to see some old unique wooden houses stilts on the waters. You can see penang bridge, ferry, penang mainland and 180 degree of sea view from the jetty

8. 3.30pm

   Proceed to Penang most famous wall mural “Little Children on a Bicycle” and walk around the Armenian street and explore the street art and old heritage building

9. 4.30pm

   Proceed to the longest cafe at Penang. We can have some drinks and cakes here. It is a traditional compound of 3 heritage buildings, linked by an open air courtyard and converted into 14 spaces comprising shops, cafes, restaurant, galleries, live music and bakery. They served very delicious home-made cakes and good coffees.

10. 5.15pm

    You will be transferred back to your hotel safely after a wonderful experience in Penang.

From the word go, Deffrey was great to communicate with and tailored to our request of wanting to experience a more authentic, rural adventure of Penang Island. We could not have asked for more. The entire day from cycling through villages, rice paddies, monkeys, farms and coast line, exploring the Chinese fishing villages and experiencing local cafe culture, to our hike through Penang National Park to beautiful beaches and back was awesome! We had the most lovely day touring George Town with Deffrey who was so sweet, informative and charming. Great choices of places visited, he was very knowledgeable and gave us time to go at our own pace with no rush or pressure. He chose a fantastic place for lunch which was full of locals and picked several delicious dishes for us to eat. Finished off with a visit to an ice cream shop where we cooled down and had shaved coconut ice, which we highly recommend, not just the coconut ice but Deffrey and his tour. This was our 2nd fantastic walking tour in Malaysia “Withlocals” Deffrey sent us a detailed, tailored itinerary based off his expertise the day before our tour. He picked us up from our hotel and drove us to all the sights on the list (a much welcomed aid given the nature of a busy city traffic wise). Deffrey is a brilliant guide, we had previously been to Penang, so had already seen some of the highlights, Deffrey was so flexible and accommodating, it also rained (extreme) so he rescheduled to get us to an indoor venue out of the worst of the weather, and waited until the cloud lifted so we got the view from Penang Hill. Lunch was fabulous, at a restaurant we probably would have overlooked. I would highly recommend Deffrey, and would definitely choose him as a guide if we return to Penang. Deffrey is a nice;knowledgeable and friendly tour guide:) Even though our tour schedule got delayed at first; but Deffrey makes sure that we can go to all the places as planned.A few wonderful highlights are definitely the cable car ride to Penang Hill where we get to enjoy the full view of the whole Penang as well as feeling the nice cold breeze💨while up on hill. We think that overall, a half day tour may have suited us better. Towards the end the heat had taken its toll and our energy levels were low. It was obvious that Deffrey was trying hard - his car was clean and cool, he provided water and even brought along an assistant to help with the navigating and logistics. He was efficient, getting us from point A to point B with a minimum of fuss. He had a lot of tidbits about things as we went around. We just didn't feel the personality connection that elevates a tour to greatness.Deffrey tried really hard

My teenage daughter and I had a great day with Deffrey. He picked us up with his van and drove us to different places - always making sure we were not in the heat too long. We went up Penang Hill with the funicular, visited a big temple, some street art and a great mansion, he showed us a clan jetty, brought us to a market for lunch where he made sure we could try some great food, he also brought us to a great café for coffee and cake, and when we asked to see more street art, he added more into the itinerary. After the tour he sent us messages with good places for dinner. He was very helpful and friendly and we learnt a lot! Very knowledgeable guide

Thanks to Deffrey, we managed to cover all of our itineraries. He is quite friendly, approachable, responsible, helpful and considerate. He is also knowledgeable and patiently listened to our requests before suggesting the options for us to choose from. From Penang Hill to Kek Lok Si and then Penang Street for yummy sedap good. After food, we visited the Peranakan mansion followed by a trishaw ride around Penang before visiting Chew Jetty. We ended with a tea break at the local at the longest cafe in Penang. Deffrey was an amazing guide from start to finish, and I cannot highly recommend this tour enough for a visit to Penang. Deffrey had outstanding local knowledge, he knew all the back streets and parking spots so that we didn’t need to walk far in the Penang heat. The tour was customised to my liking, I really wanted to see Penang street art, so Deffrey took the time to take me to all of the great spots (many away from the crowds to avoid the instagram queues 🙄). I was travelling solo and Deffrey doubled as my tourist photographer taking some great snaps of me along the way (and teaching me how to make instagram reels 🤣). Deffrey was also fantastic at pointing out local traits, customs and traditions, historical landmarks so that it was a really I formative. On top of all this… Deffrey knew exactly where to take me to eat and get coffee (a big task for a Melbourne coffee snob). Loved every second of this trip ☺️Local knowledge +++

Eine Tour mit Deffrey ist einfach nur wärmstens zu empfehlen. Wir stimmten uns schon vor Beginn der Reise mit ihm ab. Deffrey holte uns direkt am Cruise-Pier (Swettenham Pier) ab, da wir im Rahmen einer Kreuzfahrt Penang bzw. George Town besuchten. Am Treffpunkt angekommen, vorbei an den Schwärmen von Taxi- und Rischkafahrern wurden wir auch schon von Deffrey herzlichst begrüßt. Mit seinem modernen, klimatisierten Minivan ging es zuerst zum Habitat, da morgens dort nur wenige Besucher unterwegs sind. Deffrey setzte uns ab und parkte den Wagen. Für den Weg hoch insHabitat gibt es auch eine Zahnradbahn für die Deffrey uns half, die passenden Karten zu bekommen. Die Fahrt mit der Bahn ist super. Oben angekommen, führte uns Deffrey gekonnt durch das Habitat und brachte es irgendwie fertig, dass wir an einigen Stellen komplett ohne weitere andere Gäste waren und so Bilder schießen konnten, als wäre der Park nur für uns geöffnet. Er führte uns an Stellen vorbei an die wir so allein nicht gekommen wären, einmal zum Staunen und zum anderen um gute Fotos zu machen. Anschließend ging es zu dem wunderschönen buddhistischen Tempel Kek Lok Si. Auch hier ersparte uns Deffrey viel Gelaufe, indem er uns jeweils passend an den Stellen absetzte, an die wir gerne wollten. Seine Tour durch die Tempelanlage war toll. Ruhig und mit viel Wissen brachte er uns die einzelnen Orte näher. Danach ging es noch nach George Town, wo Deffrey uns neben einer Führung durch die schwimmenden Märkte und die Kunstinstallationen auch eine Führung durch eine historisch herrschaftliche Villa (Penang Peranakan) gab, welche viel über die Oberschicht der Opiumfürsten erzählte. Nach diesem sehr ereignisreichen Tag ging es dann wieder zurück zum Cruise-Pier, wo uns Deffrey pünktlich abgesetzt hatte. Das war ein wundervoller Tag mit einem sehr aufmerksamen Gastgeber. My wife Yvonne and I had a wonderful day with Deffrey. He’s a very pleasant person who was able to make adjustments to the schedule on the fly - for instance, when he found out that Yvonne is from Hong Kong, he drove us to this awesome dim sum place for breakfast! Deffrey’s tour theme is relatively ‘Chinese-centric’ and we certainly enjoyed the clan—jetties, the massive Buddha at Kek Lok Si, and the Chinese hawker food options for lunch (although I couldn’t refuse my standard Laksa). For me the whole Baba(-Nyonya) culture at the Peranakan-house was most eye-opening. In fact, we would repeatedly return to Nyonya-food restaurants in the days after the tour with Deffrey. Equally impactful was Deffrey’s introduction of the local coffee scene - there is that Kopi/Kopi-O culture that you’d find anywhere in Malaysia, but then there is this slew of extremely high-end coffee shops (like Coffee Lane or Macallum Connoisseurs and others) that just blew my mind - you will find those in New York and in Tokyo too but not in THAT density (if interested, get the Indonesian beans, they are ‘almost’ local). Deffrey even sent us a follow up list of more coffee shop and some places for Yvonne’s obsession with some strange green Malaysian juice. Very interesting and impactful tour - thank you Deffrey! Deffrey was a fantastic guide around Penang! One can always explore an island on their own, but you miss out on history from a local, and tidbits of information you won’t read about in those guidebooks. Which I totally forgot to bring on my trip. The highlight of the trip were Kek Lok Si, and the Clan Jetty - even tho it began pouring rain! Deffrey was super considerate about the rain and making sure I was good. Another highlight was trying Char Koay Teow! If you tell anyone that you are going to Penang, they will rave about the food!! We visited Penang in January for a few days. I was keen to have two guided tours, a food tour and a cultural tour as there is so much to see in Penang and George Town and I wanted a local to show us around. I had a look at a few offerings, but they all seemed to be box standard. Running a tour company myself, I know it is not too much effort to make it special. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. The tours With Locals are run by locals so you will see a town as the locals do. Deffrey was a great guy. Very knowledgeable and friendly. At the time of booking he asked us about our interests so he could tailor the tour, which he did. We visited the highlights, but stayed well away from the big crowds. It was very interesting going around the Peneka house with him. I didn't see any guided tours here and he could fill us in about all the stories. We had a delicious local lunch and walked away with quite a few tips about Hidden bars in George Town. A fantastic day tour in Penang. Highly recommended to join Deffrey on one of his tours. Deffrey was fantastic and our tour with him was probably one of our favourite days in Penang. He was really easy to get along with and made us feel very comfortable on our tour. Nothing seemed too hard and he happily gave us all the time necessary to answer our questions and fulfill our requests. He took us to some delicious street food and helped us to order dishes that we would enjoy. He was also great at taking photos. Had it not been for Deffrey, I probably would have been too lazy to take as many photos as we did but he captured so many great moments for us throughout the day. I had a great time!! Not only did Deffrey arrive on time, but he was friendly and made me feel at ease! He suggested starting earlier than 9 to beat the crowds for the Malaysian holiday, and we did not run into any issues. We covered every item on the suggested itinerary, and I never felt rushed ^^ He had a wealth of knowledge about each location we went to, and about local culture, and he even pointed out sites and talked about locations while we drove, and how to find them in relation to my hotel. Despite an early rain, it was fun! He provided umbrellas and a water bottle and was extremely courteous, carrying the umbrella for me, and taking photos. He also pointed out a great electronics shop when I spoke about some of the issues I was having with phone charging, and everything was solved! And, he followed up to make sure I reached my next travel destination safely! I definitely recommend Deffrey as a guide, if you'd like to have a full day tour ^^Awesome experience in Penang!!

Coordinated whole tour in smoothly way, we went through almost 10 spots in one day! Incredible! Snake temple-->Bukit Bendera, a.k.a. We thoroughly enjoyed our day with Deffrey in Penang. He met us after getting off our cruise ship for the day and kept us busy and engaged all day long. He was extremely knowledgeable and so very polite. We covered a lot of ground, saw a variety of sights, and had so many new experiences all in one day. We had a fantastic day with Deffrey showing us all the wonders of Penang! He met us at our hotel and let us straight in on the plans for the day but no way could we have imagined he could pack so much in to the day! We began with a walk along the Clan Jetties and it was a beautiful scene to learn all his knowledge on the area and everything that could be seen. We wondered all the streets and alleys and saw beautiful street art that was completed by local artists in the area and along the way saw various shops selling traditional goods. I was amazed by his knowledge and felt that we learned so much about the area and all cultures and traditions enveloped by it. We saw secluded, untouched areas, markets, mansions and food shops we have now revisited since for pure enjoyment. Deffrey was very friendly and welcoming and was answering many of our continuous questions throughout the entire day and left us alive with facts. Deffrey was a great guide! I booked this tour as a solo traveler and truly got to see everything in Penang in one day. Deffrey was able to customize an itinerary that fit my time schedule and even helped with finding vegetarian meals for me. He was also wonderful at taking photos and videos for me. And also his knowledge of Penang's history is rich! I was truly surprised that he could answer all my questions. Now I know more about this amazing city! Most tour guides usually rush you to go from one place to the next but Deffrey did a good job at making sure that we stuck to the schedule but also get a good feel for each place. I never felt rushed. Thank you Deffrey for a comfortable and safe experience! Wonderful Time!

Deffrey provided a wonderful customized day for us driving all over the island. He's a great driver providing comfort in his large vehicle. Not only did he take us to places that we asked him to take us, he also took us to a small fishing village where we had our first ever taste of durian 😁. Very knowledgeable and an overall nice guy to spend your day with, I highly recommend Deffrey's guiding services. Super Fabulous Day

I had an awesome day in Penang. Deffrey collected me from PIA and back at the end of the day. He personalized my itinerary and showed me all the famous spots. I tried the local food. It was good. Deffrey was very instrumental in our discovery of Penang. Good sequence of places to visit. good English and good info about local points of interest and life. We loved the lunch place. What can I say about Deffrey....he’s organised, punctual, polite, courteous, knowledgeable, drives an awesome comfy and practical vehicle, knows Penang like the back of his hand and looks after you like Mary Poppins would. We had a great day out with Deffrey, made a couple of tweaks to his itinerary as we fancied stopping at the Hin Bus Depot to hang out with the cool Malay hipsters. We loved Kek Lok temple and Deffrey kindly dissuaded us against going up Penang hill as it was misty and views would be limited. Later we stopped for some street food and to say we are fussy eaters is an understatement but Deffrey was extremely patient and organised some local delicacies to suit our requirements! In conclusion our day out with Deffrey was fantastic and I can confidently recommend him to other visitors.Penang with Deffrey

I would absolutely recommend you hire Deffrey as your local driver/tour guide. Deffrey is a delight, nice, profesional, well mannered and attentive young man who will take you around. We hired Deffrey for a FULL day (which we even extended some into the evening) while in Penang, pretty much from one end to the other, and everything in between. Nice car with BA/c, waters, all taken care of. Great place for lunch. I had bit of sore throat he even got me lozenges! Fantastic! WONDERFUL!!
