For my husband's 50th birthday, we booked a Gaudi tour in Barcelona. He is a fan of Gaudi's work and we have been to many Gaudi sites in the past. We hoped to gain a deeper insight into these works, the city and history of the buildings.
The tour was booked for 9:00 AM. The night before Phillippe messaged and asked to move the tour back to 9:15, which we agreed to. We arrived at the meeting spot around 9:00, the rest of our group at 9:15, and he asked why I had not responded to his message that he was actually early and could have begun the tour at 8:45.
The first hour was sitting and waiting for the Casa Vicens tour, during this time he shared very little information that could not be read on a wikipedia article or that we did not already know. He did not engage with our other two guests at all during this time. He also appeared to want us to pay for his coffee- we did not do so.
I did not realize that we would be paying for him to take a tour of Casa Vicens as well. The tour guide at this location, Xavier was excellent and gave us tons of interesting insights into the building and the families that owned the property over the years. Phillipe participated as if he was a member of the group and added nothing to this tour.
Phillipe took approximately 20 minutes to find a taxi to take us to Casa Mila, which we had to pay for ourselves. It would have been nicer to have him book in advance, so we did not waste time waiting.
At Casa Mila, we could only stand across the street and look at the building. He did not share anything unique or informative about this building. He led us into the cafe to look at the ceiling. It did not feel authorized and the staff appeared to be annoyed by our presence as we were not eating there.
We then walked to Casa Batllo-which was almost entirely the same. Very little information about the building or Gaudi. We were not allowed to go inside. He spent more time talking about the building next door-Casa Amatller. Again, he took us into the lobby and pointed at a few things, but we felt as if we really weren't supposed to be there.
Throughout the tour he referred to myself and the other woman in my group as girls. This felt very demeaning.
Lastly-I am sensitive to the personal nature of this complaint, but Phillipe had intense, off-putting body odor. It was difficult to stand near him at all through the tour due to the smell.
Our initial tour was $291.00, which I was glad to pay for 4 guests- under the assumption that we would have an expert guide to teach us about Gaudi and his works. This experience did not come close to my expectations.
Adding Casa Vicens required us to pay an additional $110.00 in cash to Phillipe for our entry and tour of the site. I did not appreciate that he did not disclose we would be paying for him to take the tour.
I do not know what Phillipe would have filled 3 hours with, had we not also requested the addition of Casa Vicens. Disappointing Guadi tour

We went on 2 tours with Philippe in Barcelona and pretty much adopted him into our family. Philippe is extremely knowledgeable but also warm and wonderful. My whole family of 5 (myself, husband, daughter, 19; son, 17; daughter, 15) absolutely adored him and learned so much about his beautiful city. His English is perfect and his love of Barcelona is very apparent. Philippe rocks!!!!!

Philippe was very informative of all the stops on the tour and he seemed to truly enjoy all the places we went to along the way.
There was one tapas stop, and the peppers were the best of our trip. He also got us vermouth... which was delicious (we had no clue it was so popular in España and ordered it many times afterwards —probably wouldn’t have otherwise as the Italian style is much different!).
We visited the inside of each Gaudí place later in our time in Barcelona, but none of our other tours explained the outsides as much as he did :)
Overall he was very friendly and a welcoming oversight to the city of Barcelona!
One last thing... he really explained some of Catalonian culture as well (especially some of the political topics). Plus it was cool to talk about our culture as well as his. Good conversations!Nice overview of the city!

Loved Philippe! He’s thoroughly immersed himself in 2000 years of Barcelona history. He’s deeply Catalan and fearlessly expressive About its past and present. We learned about all the major thematic events and got underneath the skin of the city seeing detailed sites and venues that demonstrate the truth of Catalonia’s past and present. These included recently discovered Roman columns, examples of aquaducts, uncovered Roman towns, a mural made of pictures about love of homeland and community. He also fed my interest in the street art scene. He’s all at once funny, smart, patient and challenging. Highly recommended. Self made historian and gadfly

Great tour - Phillipe was very knowledgeable about the history of Barcelona. We really enjoyed the tour, however the tapas was average. Basically it involved one stop at a tapas cafe where he ordered for us. I wish he would have asked us what we wanted to eat before deciding what to order because we may have enjoyed it more. My wife and I are really in to food and wine and were expecting the tapas portion of the tour to be more of a “foodie” experience, which it was not. While we would definitely book another tour with Phillipe, we would not do the tapas one. Great tour, average tapas

Barcelona is a beautiful city with amazing history and architecture and Philippe brought it all to life with his insights, historical knowledge, and willingness to make the experience tailored to our group. I gave him a large list of "wants" and he made them all happen! He tried his best to keep our girls engaged and by the end of the tour they were actually learning and participating! We covered a lot of ground and Philippe made our stop in Barcelona truly memorable! Thank you!

Philippe was wonderful from the moment I reached out to him about booking the tour. He was willing to make some adjustments for my group and I and made it very clear where and when to meet. His tour was engaging and informative. Since we had already seen some Barcelona sights, he tailored the tour for us and really made the most of our time with him. I would highly recommend him!!Gaudi Tour

Philippe provided an excellent customized tour for us during our recent visit to Barcelona. He was extremely accommodating and even allowed for a mid brief shopping break during our tour! His knowledge of the history of Barcelona was impeccable and he even kept our two daughters ages 15 and 10 interested. We would without a doubt recommend Phillipe!!Amazing tour with an amazing tour guide!!

My husband and I had only three days in Barcelona and we wanted to make sure we made the most of it. Our private tour with Philippe helped enormously. We did the "Tapas and Gaudi" tour. The tapas was unremarkable but it was fun to sit with talk with Philippe before we set out on a walk that took us from the heart of Barcelona to the Sagrada Familia. He used the time to set the stage and provide historical and current context for the evolution of the city and how this is reflected in the design of its buildings and streets. As we walked towards the Sagrada Familia, he pointed out to us the buildings that highlight key periods of the city. It was fascinating and they were beautiful. HIs love for the city and knowledge of it was infections and left us enthusiastic for more. Our arrival at Sagrada Familia for a 6 pm tour turned out to be one of the most amazing experiences -- the cathedral was filled with light cast through the stained glass windows by the late-day sun. Magical.

Although we were unable to go on our tour with Philippe due to our flight being changed and lost luggage, I would definitely recommend Philippe. Every time I messaged Philippe, he was prompt and helpful with his replies. When I messaged from the airport that we were leaving on a later flight, he was willing to meet us later than scheduled. I'm sure he would be just as accommodating had we gotten to go on his tour.

Philippe did a great job organizing a nice tour of Gaudi highlights. His tour culminated in a visit to the Sagrada familia.. which must be visited with a knowledgable person. His stories and explanations were engaging to our two kids (ages 8 and 12).
We walked quite a bit but it was a good way to explore Barcelona.
The tour also started with a couple of tapas which was extra fun. I highly recommend organizing a tour with Philippe.

Philippe was the perfect tour guide. This was my family’s first time in Barcelona, and having Philippe show us around made it much easier to navigate and it was so much more informative and interesting. My family was a group of 8, including my grandmother who recently had a knee replacement, and Philippe catered the tour to accommodate all. We tasted some really delicious tapas and vermouth at a local restaurant, and learned a lot about Gaudi. We also opted to add on the Sagrada Familia; Philippe got us priority tickets and gave us a detailed background on the history of the church, which would have been difficult to research or read while taking in the magnificence of the church at the same time. Definitely recommend Philippe - thanks for a great tour!!Great Tour Guide!

We are a family of 5 from Hong Kong and enjoy learning something from the locals every time we visit a new place. We found many good reviews of Philippe's private 2hr cooking class but we thought 2hr might be a bit too rush if our children want to enjoy plenty of cooking as well as a good moment for all of us to enjoy the meal together with Philippe. I communicate with Philippe and am glad that he is responsive and is willing to accommodate our needs.
We did a 3-hour session of a traditional Catalan home cooking, including pa amb tomaquet, padron peppers, tortella de patatas, paella and crema catalana. It was a great fun for our children. Philippe was very thoughtful, carefully balancing the time needed for cooking and a pace which the children can enjoy themselves in the process.
It was a big portion for all of us and Philippe was impressed that we can finish the food and nothing went to the bin. (to readers: be reminded to go with an empty stomach)
Philippe had also shared his life and adventure with us during the meal and we appreciate our great time with such a nice person.A wonderful experience of Catalonia

Not much more to be said that hasn’t already been raved about. Philippe was a wonderful host to myself, my wife and our 5 year old. His home is beautiful, an alluring layout that is tastefully decorated. As for Philippe himself, he was patient, kind, and encouraging to our child, who is usually quite shy. The icing (or fire in this case) on the cake was our son learning to use the blow torch for the Creama Catalana caramel. Definitely a highlight of the trip! A MUST when in Barcelona

The class felt rushed, kinda of aggressive, not geared towards children or families ( philippe actually said the class wasn’t for children) even through that is in the title of the class. He made our entire family feel uncomfortable. His home where you cook was so hot we would barely breathe. Never offered us water. Then rushed us out minutes before the class was up. He also seemed that this was just something he does vs. bring remotely interested in cooking or any background in culinary at all. I would not recommend taking this class.
