Valentina took us to an area away from crowds and tourists to see residential areas. She was very knowledgeable and friendly, and had helpful visual aides on her tablet. Valentina was absolutely wonderful! The tour felt unique and the content seemed personal to Valentina. She was so gracious with all the questions we had during the walk, and even had a tablet with her filled with pictures to help build extra context for us throughout the tour (maps, historical images, etc.). We really felt like we got to know Venice much better than if we had not booked this experience. If we hadn't, I honestly dread all the things we would have missed during our visit! We met Valentina in front of the historic train station with a view of the oldest church and crossed the Grand Canal to see a side of the legendary place of worship from a perspective not readily available to all those who lay eyes on her. Then we visited the bloody streets of Biaso who's story likely inspired Sweeney Todd with his savory stews. The Gheto Vechio was remarkable and and oppressively tragic with its history of both actual and legendary. Learning about apothecaries and mysterious and amazing potions that were derived from snakes - and the charlatans who peddled their own "snake oils" to the hovering masses who were searching for immediate relief and remedy. After filling our suggestible heads with stories of witches and spirits and tragedy, we were left to our thoughts and imagination with a cheery wave and a "We'll see you next time! Grazie!" Needless to say we wanted more, but alas our stay was already coming to an end. We all had a great time and would love to take another tour with Valentina if we had a chance. Definitely top-notch story telling and attention paid to the needs of us older tourists with regards to strategic rests and all those bridges! Absolutely worth the time and money! Can't wait to do it again!It started with a shiver and then progressed into a 2 hour marathon exploration of the darker side of Venice...

We found Valentina to be well informed and interesting. Her communication was very good and we had no trouble finding her at the very busy train station. We were the only 3 people in her tour and enjoyed the one on one experience. Valentina let us go at our own pace and take breaks when necessary. We went to the "real" Venice, away from the crowds and loved seeing that side of Venice. Valentina told some interesting stories along the way. The title of the tour suggested to us that there would be more ghost, as in haunted, stories which was not the case. However, we enjoyed hearing the stories she did tell. my husband and our two teenagers were only in Venice for less than 24 hours, so we're looking for a walking tour that would give us a nice overview of the city. Valentina was wonderful! I was looking for a romantic experience to share with my girlfriend and Valentina went the extra mile to help me make that happen. I told her that my goal was to finish the tour with an unforgettable proposal and she helped me make that happen by organizing a photographer and a romantic, private, gondola ride at the end - complete with serenade from the gondolier! The tour was focused on a less crowded area of town which was really appreciated and she included lots of little historical bits of information and folklore about some of the things we saw. We only had 6 hours in Venice the day before leaving for our cruise, so we booked with Valentina to give us insight on Venice while we were there. Not surprisingly, Valentina was knowledgeable about Venice and provided a fundamental understanding of the City and culture. The best part of Valentina, in my opinion, was that we had someone in our family who is less mobile, and she took the opportunity to use our 24 hour water bus tickets to change our itinerary to accommodate her needs. We were still able to see many sights without having to walk as much, which made for a better overall experience. I would highly recommend this for someone who only has a short time in Venice. Valentina provided a terrific tour of the Dorsoduro neighborhood in Venice. Although right across the Grand Canal, this neighborhood is a bit off the beaten path. It contains many wonderful buildings, canals, shops, and restaurants. The Peggy Guggenheim & DaVinci museum are in this area as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour around Venice with Valentina.
