My partner Josh and I had a great afternoon being introduced to the world of Greek wine. Coming from Melbourne, the quality of our tastings was completely different from the old days of acidic retsina. Vasiliki and Orestes gave us samples of old and new vines, and we especially enjoyed Naoussa Boutsri, Santorini with its amazing planting system and a great glass of sparkling rose . Vasiliki was simply amazing & expert knowledgeable of Athens hidden neighborhoods. Vasiliki brought us to a vivid wine bar where we talked about wine and culture while trying a couple of whites and a rosé. The wines were carefully selected according to our preferences. The wines were from different regions, made from different grapes, and were very different in style. Vasiliki was very ressourceful and knew about the locations where the wines came from and also knew a lot about the grapes and how they were farmed. The wines were accompanied by local cold cuts and cheeses, and discussions about Greece and different parts of Athens. We were then also recommended several wines which be brought home and I am looking forward to drink them at home. We had a lovely afternoon and can't recommend this experience enough.Wine is more than a drink!

It was great to meet Vasiliki, and to get to know Athens a little through her eyes. It was a great introduction to Athens and good to do this not long after our arrival. We sat and talked over a couple of wine tastings in a bar which was a nice way to get to know someone and to have a detailed conversation. Vasiliki then generously walked us through a couple of neighbourhoods. The wine tasting was not in the end the major focus of the tour and we did visit just the one bar, but the broad range of information we received on Athens (and wider) was greatly appreciated. Vasiliki has great energy and it is evident her venders appreciate her. She gave us a wide variety of tastes - olives, honey, nuts, meat & cheese, slouvaki and a deliciously sweet doughnut/ice cream dessert. We had our 9 year old with us and Vasiliki engaged with her tremendously. She was very informational about the city of Athens and gave suggestions for areas to wander for our remaining days. We highly recommend Vasiliki, she was hands down our favorite food tour guide we have ever had (we’ve done several food tours lately in Italy & Portugal). Lovely!

Vasiliki was excellent. She met us on time at an easy to find spot and immediately engaged our two children ( aged 10 and 14). The tour took us through lots of areas of Athens that we wouldn’t have seen otherwise. It was paced just right and she was very knowledgeable about the history of the city ( modern and ancient). My family and friends were in Greece for the first time and wanted to experience all that Athens has to offer, starting with food!!!   We searched and found a fabulous food tour on Withlocals.com.  There we had the most AMAZING guide, Vicky, short for Vasikily.  As a native Athenian, Vicky has a strong command of English which was important to us coming from the US.  She was also well versed in Greek history (both real and Greek mythology🥰) and was able to share the history and relevance of the foods we experienced.  We even got some language lessons!  She was Knowledgable, friendly and fun and we would definitely seek her out the next time we are in Athens.Awesome tour!

We had an incredible tour with Vicky around Athens. Her knowledge of the city and hidden gems are incomparable. We did a family friendly food and walking tour which had perfect amount of walking and break stops. Each break stop included a food and drink component. After choosing our guide Vasiliki reached out a week before our tour asking to move the time. We advised we were flying in from Australia so we couldn’t move earlier. She confirmed this was no issue and we were going ahead like the original confirmation time. 20 minutes before our tour she said she couldn’t make it and sent a “colleague”. This “colleague” was not another guide in the options to choose from. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had on a foodie tour. On the “10 tastings of Athens” we stopped at 5 places, 1 being a coffee shop + a stop to try olives. The guide was constantly on his phone and we spent most of our time walking rather than actually tasting any food. Our guide then wrapped up our tour 30 minutes early. When you use Withlocals it’s not cheap especially when you’re 2 people. This was our first experience in Athens super disappointing. After this horrid experience we were talking to a local and she told us about this great foodie tour on trip advisor. From conversations with this “guide” he was a dancer needing to make money for his overseas trip coming up. Don’t waste your time with something unpredictable and 100% not worth the money we spent. I could have googled better locations/ tastings. Would not recommend

We (a couple with a 3 years old child) booked the Athens tour with Vasiliki for last Sunday. It was a really good experience to get to know the city from a local. Also the way she does it is very nice for children. Maybe our daughter was quite too young to understand the play. I think, from 4 years old would be better. We also got some recommendations from Vasiliki for the rest of the days in Athens and for our stay in Naxos. We recommend it!Great tour for families

Our guide was excellent, very informative, personable. The downside for me was way too much walking in between the tastings. I think a better more thought out travel route would add to the experience. Ideally we would have walked shorter distances between tastings and would have benefited from table conversations for her to convey the information she shared. Trying to hear her as we walked was almost impossible. In my opinion she could have had a dozen tastings in a two block radius and we could have had much better conversations from sitting together at tables, place to place.Walking….Walking…Walking

Great walk through the city center. It is tailored not to be boring for kids, thus expect it to be lightweight. This was exactly what we have expected and needed. A recent excursion through Athens left us with mixed feelings. The tour showcased some interesting stops of the city but ultimately fell short of expectations. Our three-hour journey took us through graffiti-adorned walls, busy flea markets, the fish and meat market, and the iconic Parliament building. While the itinerary covered a diverse range of sights, the lack of a cohesive narrative made the experience feel disjointed at times. On the positive side, our guide provided insights into recent economic challenges faced by Greece, adding a contemporary perspective to our exploration. Additionally, she sprinkled in tidbits of ancient history, which was appreciated by our children who are fans of Greek myths. Despite these highlights, the information provided felt cursory, and the tour often seemed improvised rather than carefully planned. While the spontaneity had its charm, it left me longing for a more organized and engaging experience. I must commend our guide for her warmth and enthusiasm throughout the tour. Despite the shortcomings, her genuine passion for sharing her city with visitors was evident, and her efforts to make the experience enjoyable are appreciated. The visit to a cafe was a great hit with all the family. In conclusion, my tour with Withlocals offered glimpses of Athens that I might have otherwise missed, but it fell short of delivering a truly enriching experience. While the guide's charm and authenticity were notable, the overall lack of structure and depth left me feeling underwhelmed.Mixed Bag

Spent a lovely few hours in Athens with Vasiliki. Got to see parts of the city we wouldn’t normally have done and Vasiliki kept both parents and our son (8yo) engaged throughout.
