   There are community gardens all over Amsterdam. We will visit a few special ones and explain how the city has stimulated this kind of initiative for community-building, education and of course fresh local veggies, herbs and flowers!

4. Bee hotspots

   Amsterdam is also full of bee hives and hotels for wild bees! Learn why it’s important to create habitats for these insects and how we make sure that they have enough nectar and pollen to thrive.

5. School garden and allotments

   Visit one of Amsterdam’s school gardens where hundreds of children learn how to grow food.

6. Local bites

   Fuel yourselves with some locally-grown snacks & drinks! A picnic is possible, or we can visit a farm cafe.

7. Visit a local farm

   Tour the farm, and talk to the farmers about how they grow vegetables, herbs and flowers, taking special care of the soil and stimulating local biodiversity.

We had a fantastic tour with Jaffie where we had the opportunities not only to discover and walkthrough hidden gardens in Amsterdam, but also to better understand the motivations of the people engaged in buidling these gardens. Jaffie is very well connected with this community which opens another dimension to trip. Jaffie is a totally passionate story teller and she wanted to be sure we see everything. Hi Ann!! My husband and I didn't really know what to expect when we signed up to take a tour of Amsterdam with Ann, but boy did we have the time of our lives. Ann guided us on our bikes through central Amsterdam to the ferries where we crossed over to Amsterdam North and saw some beautiful gardens and enjoyed hot tea surrounded by gorgeous plants and greenery. After hopping back on the ferry, Ann was happy to answer all of our questions. She was so enthusiastic about her volunteer work and about Amsterdam in general that she made the whole experience one of our favorite parts of our 10 day stay in Amsterdam. I highly recommend signing up for a bike tour with Ann. Biking with Ann! Best part of our trip!

Naomi designed a beautiful garden tour. Our Guide, Naomi, was personable, informative and very knowledgeable. We got to see different areas of the city, away from the normal tourist areas, and learned a lot about the local farming and gardening initiatives. We highly recommend this tour and our guide! Ann is the best! (And Noami too!). The bike rental was super easy and Ann is a great leader for those who may be new to biking in Amsterdam. She took us to some very cool community gardens that were each beautiful but also unique so it wasn’t like seeing the same thing over and over. We had so much fun chatting with Ann and Naomi and wish we could have spent the whole day together. Would absolutely recommend this tour, or others like it, for anyone visiting the city and next time we are here we will be reaching out again for another fun experience. I attended this bike tour with my husband and 18 year old son and we really enjoyed our afternoon with Toby. It was a very hot day and only our second time on bikes in Amsterdam, so Toby kept things at a good speed and found us some shady spots for water breaks. He is very knowledgeable and was able to answer all the questions we asked. It was very cool to see and learn about different gardening methods and we were also able to see one of the school gardens, which was amazing. This tour is a great way to see different parts of the city that you may not see otherwise, enjoy a ferry ride and get more comfortable on a bike. Toby was a super great guide and taught of lots of new things that we hope to use to get our gardens started. Thanks Toby! I highly recommend this tour.

We loved our bike ride with Ann. It was wonderful to be able to see some gardens and parks (and a ferry ride!) that as tourist we wouldn't have ever found on our own. Starting with the communication before the trip, everything worked well. Both hosts always answered super quickly. We were even able to change the date easily as it was too stormy on the initial date we picked. Overall we had a lovely afternoon with Sameena. We met at Starbikes - where we got our bikes and cycled off into our adventure. We drove from the train station into the east of Amsterdam and got to know several little urban gardens and always met really friendly people everywhere (& Sameena really knows everyone). It was really great as we live close by to our route, but never really noticed the little gardens. Our highlight was the first stop though- a place that is a shared garden , a place to eat and and a place to hold workshops..and we were lucky enough to be invited to the one workshop they were holding when we visited. Our only recommendation would be to include more places like this in the tour - little urban cafes and stuff like that, because we would love to known more places where one can buy local foods or honey.. but thats not a minus because the tour was great and worth it. Definitely and eye-opener and different view on Amsterdam. A customized trip with Ann
