This was our first time using With Locals, and it was an amazing experience. Yashaswi was very knowledgeable and was able to help us understand the history and culture without overwhelming us with names and dates. It is clear that history is a passion for him. He showed us some Easter eggs inside Itmad-ud-Daula which we wouldn't have found on our own. Beyond history he also answered lots of our questions about life in Agra and the current culture. We took the morning Express train from Delhi to spend a day in Agra, specifically to see the Taj Mahal - and anything else we could fit into our time in the city, before returning to Delhi in the late afternoon. We contacted Harish with our aspirations for our day: to learn about the history and architectural significance of the city; to be led by an informed, intelligent and personable guide, and to spend the day with somebody who could negotiate the crowds and traffic of Agra - with ease and confidence. Harish delivered in every respect. Supported by his excellent driver, he collected us from our train (from the carriage door!) and created a personal tour for us, which enabled us to see the Taj Mahal; Agra Fort; Baby Taj; a co-operative dedicated to maintaining the craft traditions of marble inlay used throughout the Taj, and stop for refreshments en route. In spite of the numbers of people and traffic (it was a particularly hectic New Year's Day), Harish remained calm and companiable; setting a good pace to ensure that we made the most of all aspects of the day without feeling rushed. He was mindful to check that we were OK throughout the way the day was going and to discuss our options for each part of it. Harish is a skilled story teller, bringing the past to life, and an enthusiast for the history and architecture of these extraordinary buildings, that he clearly loves. We can highly, highly recommend to book Harish as your guide in Agra! He went far beyond when it came to service, knowledge, attitude and patience with our family. We are a family of 5, with teenage kids, that went to Agra for a two night and two day trip. Harish started by helping us with our train tickets that I booked in Sweden, we got a far better solution with his advice. Then he adviced us with the transportation in Agra so it went seemless all the way. So conveniente! Day one Harish friend and collegue Atiq took us to Fatehpur Sikri. Such an amazing place, the former capital of the third mogul emporer. He took us to very good restaurants both for lunch and dinner. Day two Harish himself met up with us outside our hotel early in the morning to take us to the gem, Taj Mahal. So smart to go in the early morning before the crowds. After that we went to Agra Fort and finally to Baby Taj. Both of them had loads of knowledge and could help us to sort out every question we had. They speak extremely good english and we got to learn so much more about the Indian daily life during our conversations. Thanks so much for giving us this "once-in-a-lifetime" experience! The two days that we spent with Harish were easily the best two days of our three week long vacation in India to date. He & his driver met us in Jaipur in a very high quality SUV & drove us to Agra with stops at historic sites en route & answering every question we had about life in India en route knowledgeably, authentically & respectfully. He shared so many things about the holistic history of India while speaking to the details at each site, placing them in a larger historical context & doing so concisely enough that we were easily able to learn. On day two he met us again at our Agra hotel & efficiently brought us to the Taj at sunrise queuing for only 15 minutes as he knows all the short cuts. While the Taj is beautiful, we could never have appreciated its real beauty without Harish’s story telling & deep understanding of both the architecture & Mughal history. Our car was always waiting for us outside each & every site visited with chilled water (some sites which go beyond the main tourist trail & we would never have discovered alone) which was such a luxury, saved much time in a very relaxed fashion & he flexed to every ask on taking breaks, eating, shipping - nothing was an issue. He took us to great restaurants & even went above & beyond helping us with our onward travel, ensuring we get the correct train to our next stop safely. I strongly recommend Harish as a guide for your trip in India. He has guided across the country v one region or site which made all the difference in what we learnt. We are independent Travellers generally but Harish is easy to be around & having booked a number of other guides while in India through various sites, we appreciate the difference in the quality of his service. Harish’s English is excellent & we are very grateful for the time we spent. If I had my time over we would have looked to spend more days with him. My experience with Harish couldn’t have gone any better, we went to see the Taj Mahal for sunrise which was an experience in its self but going with someone who has knowledge like Harish along with his calming energy just made it a whole lot better. Agra has some amazing stores and Harish knows them all, sunrise at the Taj and a shopping was the person mother and daughter day. Driver Mr Singh was a delight also, 10/10 service. From start to finish it was such a pleasant experience with Harish! Even before the experience, we were able to fine tune the itinerary so that it would be easier for my elderly parents to make the most out of it. He took us to a sunrise tour of the Taj Mahal and then the Agra fort. Harish was very knowledgeable and I felt like a learnt a lot! Where to begin? From the moment I met Monika, even before in pre departure communication, I knew I w as in great hands. Monika is not only a lovely person, but she is knowledgeable and passionate about helping her clients experience the best. During my time with her, I was always taken care of. Best decision of my whole trip was booking with Monika! I was hesitant traveling to India as a solo female but Monika helped me make a plan and my trip turned out amazing. Initially I was going to book just the Taj Sunrise tour with Monika but she ended up helping me put together a 3 day itinerary to include Delhi, Agra and the Taj Mahal. I selected Monika Sharma. Monika did not have the exact itinerary I was looking for but after I contacted her, she told she would build a custom 5-day tour for me. I wanted to explore Delhi, Jaipur and especially the Taj Mahal and the tour she designed was perfect for me. As Monika was based in Agra, she assured me that her expertise in the cities I wanted to visit was excellent, she was not exaggerating! Monika’s education and background made her the perfect fit for me. I wanted the trip to be a combination of Indian history, sightseeing, and some shopping. Monika has deep knowledge on it all.
