On the one hand Jose Esturillo merits a 5 star review. Despite the logistical problems caused by the booking company (see below), he persevered to find us at our location, and then provided an outstanding tour of the Albazyn, the Sacramonte and downtown Granada. On the other hand, the booking company was a mess. First we were scheduled with Nacho (a highly rated guide), then it changed to Jose, then they did not provide Jose with the meeting location. Nacho was the best guide in the World, let alone Granada. He took us all around his amazing city with so much knowledge and passion. It was a wonderful experience and easy to tell Nacho really loves his job and city. We also booked him to take us through the Alhambra, which was a major dream trip for me. Nacho! A great tour guide. Helpful from first minute I made booking online. He sent me alot of information, asked about my interests and went beyond his tour time to give me the best customized Granada experience. Nacho's energy matches his name. Of several experiences, he is at the top. In 3 quick hours, we visited the Cathedral (tickets are purchased separately), the Albayzin and Sacramonte. You need to be sufficiently fit to manage the wall up the steep incline at times. Note that Nacho tells us he speaks several European languages as well as Mandarin Chinese and Arabic. WithLocals it's more expensive than some booking apps but that should not deter you from booking Nacho.Energetic Native Guide

My husband and I spent the weekend in Granada. We had the pleasure of having Alicia show us around this beautiful city. She was very accommodating on meeting at our preferred time and showed us things we definitely would not have seen or known about on our own. We had the extra bonus of her teaching me a little Spanish. The 3 hrs with her flew by. Alicia was extremely friendly and passionate on what she does. The weather in Spain, particularly the south of Spain, had been unusually hot for May and the day before our tour Ana contacted us about starting our tour earlier in the morning so that we could end the tour when it was still somewhat cool. Unfortunately, our train didn't arrive until 11:30 or so which meant we would have to stick with the original start time of 12:30. Ana talked about modifying the tour to spend time inside the cathedral which would be cool, but this was not part of the original plan. This was a walking tour and I wasn't keen on the idea. We tossed out the idea of paying for a cab to take us through the areas we would've walked through if the heat was going to be such an issue. I told Ana we were paying for her historical knowledge of the city so that seemed like a possible option. In the end we kept to the original plan. My traveling companion and I walked up to the meeting place which was a serious uphill climb and met Ana. The restaurant had a great view overlooking the Alhambra. We sat down and took a minute to cool off and have a beer. I kept waiting for the tour to actually begin. In my mind I had the idea that we would be given a history of the city, of which there is a lot, but it felt like it never came. We would walk, but there would be little to no narrative. I didn't feel like I should have to prod my guide to talk. To be fair, I don't know if there was some miscommunication with Ana and she was trying to cater to us in some way due to the heat, which was not really an issue, but unfortunately this tour was pretty unsatisfying. Ana was good company. We did visit a couple of interesting sites, but my expectation level was very high and the tour just didn't meet it. Again, maybe Ana got thrown off her game by attempting to make sure we didn't get overheated, but I can't imagine how that would prevent her from sharing the more of the history of Granada with us without being specifically asked. We did finish the tour at a cool place in a square in front of the cathedral so that was nice.I Wanted More History

As an art historian, Ana has an in-depth knowledge that really unlocks the places for you, and she shares the information in a very accessible and engaging way. Tour la Alhambra with an Art Historian – What Better Experience! Ana gave us an amazing tour of la Alhambra. There is no shortage of things to see or ground to cover. In 4 hours, though, Ana was able to take us to all of the main sights (Gardens, Summer palace, Nasrid Palaces, Charles V Palace, and the Alcazaba) without any of it ever feeling rushed. She was able to give us a wealth of information about the art, the history, and the art history. She was also deft at helping us avoid the crowds – which is no small feat in la Alhambra. Being an art historian herself – and a bit of a historian too, we suspect – Ana was able to make the history and the art come alive.
