Buddhima immediately put me at ease, we had planned to meet and she sent me her number for WhatsApp in case I could not find her. We had to find a covering for the temple and she haggled for the best deal in the markets, leaving one stall, so it reassured me that she was not taking a commission for her clients. Buddhima is from Kandy and is very well educated, so she could explain the history and answer all of my questions. I asked if we could see some jewels, as I had heard that sapphires in Sri Lanka are some of the best in the world. She took me to a government approved jeweller, so I was able to get my certificates and it was good value. We had some street food and I found it interesting to learn about local life, culture and her family. Buddhima ended up spending extra time with me to make sure I could do all of the things I wanted, always with a smile - nothing was too much effort. I will now count Buddhima as a friend in Sri Lanka forever. Warm, welcoming and very kind. Thank you for this experience ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Wonderful experience, such a good guide

Wir haben bei Buddhima zwei Touren gebucht und hatten zwei wunderbare Tage mit ihr. Die erste Tour war eine Food Tour und Buddhima hat uns die Köstlichkeiten der originalen Küche der srilankischen Frauen gezeigt und wir durften sehr viel probieren. Danach war sie mit uns noch auf dem lokalen Markt. Am nächsten Tag hat sie uns in die Kultur und Religionen eingeführt und war mit uns exklusiv bei einer buddhistischen und hinduistischen Zeremonie. Buddhima ist ein herzlicher und offener Mensch, sie spricht sehr gutes Englisch und ist zu jeder Zeit individuell auf unsere Wünsche eingegangen. Buddhism is very knowledgeable and had such an uplifting personality and mood, it was contagious and made our tour very joyful 🤩 She also took longer than initially planned in order to go eat with us and show us the local food, which shows her flexibility and dedication to maker her clients have a good time 😊 she also brought us to visit a wonderful hidden buddhist temple where we were the only people, which was very cool! Buddhima was the perfect guide for an afternoon in Kandy. We had so much fun in her company and she went above and beyond to ensure we saw and experienced as much of Kandy as possible. Buddhima’s knowledge of the history and culture of Sri Lanka was extensive and she gave us a fascinating insight into the Buddhist and Hindu cultures. We made a number of food and drink stops during the tour. Everything we tasted was delicious, especially the milk tea and dosas. To explain just how wonderful Buddhima is, I’ll first address her personality and then our particular tour. Buddhima has one of those joyful, engaging personalities that makes any activity that much better. She takes her job seriously, adapted multiple times, and enthusiastically shared information on anything we wanted to know. We knew we were in for a treat when, after apologizing for lunch delay that would push back our meetup, Buddhima showed up at the dosai, and brought a treat for our 20-month old! That extraordinary effort continued throughout the tour, as she showed us a traditional performance that we learned had closed during covid, but she knew if it and that it reopened 2-weeks ago! I could go on about the Buddhist temple we visited off the beaten path, and the vegan ice-cream journey she helped us on, but I’d suggest you’d be better off booking her and getting to experience both a wonderful time and a wonderful person!The Perfect Kandy Companion!

We had a great walking tour to the temple of tooth with Buddhima. She explained a lot about Buddhism so we learned a lot. Afterwards we tasted different snacks and fruits at the market and we ate delicious local lunch together at a spot she knew. She also showed us a hidden gem, a temple inside a cave a very peaceful place. All in all it was a very personal tour as she asked us what we preferred and she even spent more than 3 hours with us. My mum, sister and I had a fabulous afternoon and evening tour with Buddhima in and around Kandy! She is warm, bubbly and fun and we got to experience things we would never have without her. In all pre-tour comms, she was very helpful and quick to reply. On the day, because it had been raining, she made special arrangements for her cousin to bring his car, picked us up in the car rather than on foot and drove us to our first hidden gem to ensure we had an amazing experience undisturbed by rain! I don't want to give spoilers but the hidden gem she took us to was absolutely incredible and unlike anything else we saw on the trip! It truly was a hidden gem - we were the only people there, which created a fantastic atmosphere and it was a special moment of our trip. Buddhima then took us for icecream at the university campus and let us stop to take photos with the oldest tree we've ever seen! (Think Whomping Willow from Harry Potter!) She then took us around Kandy centre on foot - taking us into the busy fruit and vegetable market (something we wouldn't have been brave enough to do on our own!), taking us for a mini food tour (tasting unusual Sri Lankan fruits and buying us some tasty savoury snacks!) and very kindly helping us with some shopping! We finished the tour by being taken around the incredible Temple of the Tooth for the evening ceremony, which was busy and buzzing and full of history! What we loved about this tour was Buddhima - she was warm, friendly, kind and passionate and made the experience a real pleasure. We felt like we had made a friend! If you're looking for an authentic experience with a local person and an interesting tour of Kandy and the surrounding area, we would 100% recommend Buddhima! Awesome tour and fantastic host

We learnt so much during our tour with Buddhima; not just cultural, historical and religious but also about the Sri Lankan way of life. Buddhima’s English was great. She was extremely flexible and accommodating suggesting many alternatives and possibilities. She was also able to see when every one was getting tired and needed a cooling break! After our cultural bits she also took us to a saree shop so we could see how these beautiful garments are put on. Buddhima was a brilliant guide and we were very happy with our street food experience. It was our first day in Sri Lanka and we saw much more than we’d have been able to without Buddhima’s knowledge and friends around town who gave us samples. We sat down to eat delicious food like ulundu vadai and lump rice among many others, and even went to a pub to try an Arrack cocktail! Buddhima was funny and kind, arranging for a slice of cake as it was my partner’s birthday and lending me her umbrella to shade from the sun. Fantastic evening with Buddhima, with a wonderful warm welcome to Kandy right from the start. We could not reccomend booking a tour with Buddhima enough. We had such bad weather in Kandy with rain and it was a public holiday so a lot of places was closed and she still made the tour really good. Food choices was great and incredibly tasty. Buddhima is amazing!!

Brilliant from start to finish. Buddhima was amazing throughout the tour, a real deep dive into Sri Lankan food and beyond. Didn’t feel rushed or pushy at all when visiting the vendors to look at the spices. Tour was meant to finish at 5pm but didn’t part company into 6.30pm! Highly recommend! We spent the most brilliant day with Buddhima. Her English was excellent and her knowledge second to none, but most importantly it was a warm and fun experience. Buddhima is a fun and enthusiastic guide who enjoys sharing her love for her country and the food it has to offer. The tour focused on 4 different food stops, and we tried multiple food items at each. Buddhima was able to cater the tour easily to my dietary requirements - I certainly didn’t leave hungry! We had a wonderful tour with Buddhima. She is such as warm, friendly person, and knows so much about the different foods, fruits and drinks of Sri Lanka, she really is the perfect person for this job! Although the tour may seem expensive by Sri Lankan standards, you get so much food and so much information, it really is worth doing. I would recommend doing towards the start of your time in Sri Lanka if you can, so that you know what foods to look out for on the rest of your trip. Buddhima kept offering to buy us even more food than we could eat because she wanted us to try everything, so we ended up taking lots away with us and having plenty to eat on the Kandy-Ella train the next day!So worth the money

Abbiamo incontrato Buddhima dopo una breve chiacchierata tramite messaggi per accordarci su attività e orario. Fin da subito siamo stati accolti con il sorriso e abbiamo trovato in Buddhima una persona estremamente carismatica e preparata, interessata non solo a fornire informazioni su cultura e storia di Kandy ma soprattutto ad avere uno scambio di opinioni e background. Il tour culinario nello specifico si è svolto in parte in alcuni ristoranti, in parte al mercato e all’aperto, rendendola un’esperienza unica. Avevamo inoltre prenotato un tour da 10 assaggi e di 3 ore totali ma la cosa bella è che abbiamo finito per passare più di 4 ore con Buddhima e assaggiare più del doppio delle portate! A fine esperienza eravamo felici e arricchiti dalla meravigliosa esperienza. Vi consiglio di prenotare l’esperienza in mattinata poiché molti dei posti che abbiamo visto e provato sarebbero stati chiusi nel pomeriggio. This tour should not be called the 10 foods in Kandy it should be the 10,000. We are still so full from all the treats and it was non stop eating for the whole time and each thing was delicious and special. Thank you Buddhima for a day that we will cherish of our holiday.Best food tour we’ve ever done!

Buddhima was a wonderful hostess in her city of Kandy. She showed us, felt and tasted the daily life of the city. Without haste we visited bakeries, drank tea, visited the market. Exactly what we hoped for!Tasteful experience!

We did the tour in the afternoon. Buddhima asked what we had already tried in Sri Lanka and then showed us around the city and gave us main dishes, snacks, fruit and drinks to try. There was so much that we even took some home with us. It was a great afternoon, we talked and laughed a lot and I would recommend anyone to go on this tour with Buddhima!An afternoon well spent

We had a wonderful food tour with Buddhima! First we went to a square where she got us a wide variety of bites. After a stroll through the city including interesting information we went to the central market with all its vegtables, spices, fish, meat and fruits. We tasted some delicious local fruits here. After some more dished in different locations in the city centre we said goodbye to Buddhima as friends. Thanks Buddhima for the great tour and for the delicious snacks you bought is for our train trip the following day!Wonderful food tour!
