Nico provided a flexible, fun and fascinating tour that reintroduced me to the long history and amazing sights of Rome. I had visited years before, but having a guide pull back the many layers that make up the city, makes a huge difference and allows you to connect with new places. He explained more about pizza, ancient politics and architecture that most of us only get a superficial exposure to on our short trips and he brought the insights and experiences that only a local can share. His knowledge and love of his city was evident in all the places we visited and I'd definitely recommend asking Nico to introduce me to Rome. Great intro to Rome

First time in Rome and first time using With Locals. This is a private tour in every sense and we couldn’t be happier with our experience with Max! He tailored everything to our preferences (including breakfast place recommendations and switching meeting place to our Trastevere neighbourhood). With our two boys (15 & 11) and in an actual heatwave, Max made sure we saw all the key sights, found us shade and water (and gelato) along the way and held their attention the whole time. His knowledge of history, culture, religion, art and literature was so impressive and he peppered it all with hidden gems and local history stories off the beaten track. He had a wonderful time walking with and learning from Max. He is incredibly engaging, crazy smart, but has the agility to communicate with individuals of all ages and interests. Max knows art, architecture, philosophy, history….but you could have a whole normal conversation with him, and never know he is such an adapt intellectual. Paola was marvellous! She met us punctually & showed us so many more excellent points of interest than we could have imagined we could cover in three hours. Simone was a hoot! It was a very casual and fun tour, with Simone very easy to speak with and making for a very fun tour. He personalised our tour on the fly and provided some great tips on where we could explore once our tour had finished. Our daughter slept in the pram for majority of the tour, but that didn't hold us back from touring the city. There was plenty of history, culture and insight into the Roman way of life, told through his eyes. We covered lots of ground (which we were very much open to). In the three hours we were with Simone, We learned more about Rome than in the four days we spent here several years ago. He was able to teach history to my 21 year-old gamer through parallels from the game Assassin‘s Creed which one of the series was based in Rome. He kept my daughter captivated with the history, my husband with the ghost stories and me- I totally geeked out the whole time. I can’t tell you how refreshing it was to get a tour with someone like him. This was our first time using the With Locals platform. We loved that we got to pick our guide and that we were put in contact with him after booking, allowing for easy communication. Our group was a mix of people who had been to Rome before and some who hadn’t, including two small children ages 5 and 3. Max was able to put together a tour that kept everyone entertained. I had never been to Italy and I don't know anyone who lives there, so I wanted to start our week off with a general understanding of our context. Francesca exceeded my expectations; we all learned SO much from her. Importantly, I was able to make connections to what she taught us all throughout the rest of our trip. She helped me to understand how the city of Rome is constructed, the Baroque style of art that we saw in so many places, and so much more. She was attentive to the needs of our group of five and worked in a break for my mom to sit down in a cool church. She kept my 10- and 11-year-old daughters engaged. (Their review of Francesca is "she was nice!"). She ended the tour with a recommendation for a pizza place that even by the end of the trip (and after tasting many pizzas), remained my kids' favorite. The three hours went by very quickly. My family and I did our first walking tour of Rome with Max. Max wss super communicative from the start, chill and very easy to talk to . He’s funny, kind and very accommodating . We had 2 kids who weren’t always the best behaved through the 3 hour tour ( some tantrums and fights along the way) but he was super patient and went with the flow. He took us to this amazing gelato place too :) Max had lots of stories to tell which made all the history so fascinating - his depth of knowledge and all those details that he knows are clearly impressive .
