Our dinner with warm and charming Emma and her family at their apartment was one of the highlights of our trip to Rome. She's a wonderful cook and treated us to a wide variety of local specialities, all of which were sumptuous! Just as wonderful was the opportunity to get to know her and her husband, both of whom spoke excellent English. In short, the conversation was as memorable as the food. We had a wonderful evening of excellent food, wine and conversation . The conversation could have been in Italian if we’d wanted to learn but we chose to stick to English in which Emma is fluent . Last week I had the pleasure of visiting Italy for the first time with 5 of my girlfriends. The very first excursion we scheduled was our dinner with Emma through Eating with Locals. Words cannot express what an awesome evening and experience our dinner with Emma was. We arrived on time and the table was set, waiting for us to devour our 4 course meal. Each meal was carefully prepared and delicious and there was no shortage of extras. We also had amazing wine and after dinner drinks. Emma was a gracious host and an amazing source of information for us first timers. I plan on visiting Italy again asap and will definitely book another dinner with Eating with Locals. Our experience with Emma was fantastic! There were 6 of us traveling as a group as well as one other person she was hosting at her apartment. Emma was very communicative before and after our experience with her. She made a really tasty 4 course traditional Italian meal that consisted of Antipasti, Pasta, Meat and Dessert. We had great wine and after dinner Aparatifs. I loved her cozy apartment which was super clean, warm and inviting. I highly recommended this type of experience especially if booking with Emma. Wonderful dinner with Emma - true Italian cuisine and inspired wines to match. My family truly enjoyed our meal, but even more we enjoyed Emma's conversation. She explained the courses, and talked about the markets where she shopped for our meal. Each course had a wine we could see that she had thoughtfully paired to make the tastes come alive on the palate. SInce I am a hobbyist chef myself, I marveled at the preparation - seemingly simple, but so perfectly executed. You will not find better roasted peppers in any trattoria, and the risotto was kissed with red wine. Her potatoes were a perfectly roasted - crisp on the outside, creamy on the inside. For dessert - Emma paired a chocolate sweet with an inspired wine we had never before tasted, and we ended up taking pictures of the label in the faint hope of finding it in America. Emma was a wonderful host, with interesting conversation and a beautiful setting. We hope to connect her to our friends and family when they visit Rome. Emma was very welcoming and there was so much food!! It was very easy to find her apartment. We had very nice conversations about customs of Italians and Americans. She discussed where she got the ingredients and it was very important to her that we liked the food. The dessert was delicious! - a lemon pie! I don't usually like lemon, but this was fantastic! We were talking for so long that we almost missed the last metro train! :) Fantastic!

What a wonderful evening in Emma's apartment. We where 17 people from Norway going for an evening to Emma. We had a splendid evening with all the tasty food. It was great meeting Emma and her husband in their cosy home. They cooked up a delicious storm (seriously, the antipasti was enough to feed a school class) with alot of attention to detail. I loved that she incorporated specialities from different regions and had a story to everything that was served. We also got some great insight into the typical life of Romans and had interesting discussions at the table ranging from arts to international politics. I had a wonderful evening at Emma and Ranieri’s home filled with great food and conversation. I felt welcome and we had a great conversation about multiple topics from politics to food. And the food! We started with an amazing blend of flavors with Emma’s pecorino with pear and fig sauce. The pasta was pasta with mussels and beans—a Neapolitan specialty—and we finished the meal with Neapolitan pastries! Emma and Ranieri also helped me get the most out of my stay in Rome and Italy. I will be returning to Rome in the Spring and intend to register for another visit with Emma and Ranieri! This is my first time using the website and I was a little hesitant about it at first, but my experience with Emma has erased all those doubts! Emma made us 6 or 7 different antipasta dishes which were all very delicious, and I was already full by the time we finished them. And then Emma followed up with a pasta dish and dessert. And of course there was great wine that went with the meal as well... as well as a treat at the end that "helps with digestion" but I won't give the surprise away :) I have no hesitation in recommending dinner with Emma for anyone traveling through Rome. I had a few dinner experiences in Rome - couple of times in a restaurant, other few at friends. But this... This was amazing on so many different levels! Big white table covered with appetizers, cold and hot food, great wine, a flat with a beautiful balcony, nice food smell lingering around the rooms, Emma running back and forth to the kitchen and most of all - great company. I’m glad that Emma’s husband also joined us for this dinner (she asked us about it before coming) - he was nice enough to show his music collection and entertain me while Emma was busy with food. And that food was also great conversation catalizer as the table was covered with various delicious dishes and produce that had history in different parts of the country. And what a big and diverse this little country of Italy is! Emma was also very interested in my cultural background, my travel stories and my opinions on various subjects.
