We couldn't have been any happier with our day with Massimo. The cooking experience was as authentic as you'll get in a cozy intimate kitchen. He explained and let us participate in a fun, relaxed manner. Our 5 yr old son thoroughly enjoyed making the pasta and of course eating the final product! We can't recommend this enough and so happy we chose over some commercial larger group type session. We also did the food walking tour with Massimo which was just as good. He took us to spots we probably wouldn't have seen and got to learn some history and local insight about the coffee, sweets, Roman pizza, porchetta a d of course gelato. I can't tell you how pleased we were after taking this class with Massimo. It has been two weeks, and we just got back home, and I still can't stop thinking about how good the pasta/sauce tasted, and how simple the ingredients were. Our experience with Massimo, learning to cook fettuccini and two beautiful sauces in his kitchen in Rome, was amazing! From the first "hello" to the last "good bye", it was like we were learning from an dear friend. He shared his home and his expertise, while allowing us to get our hands dirty as we participated in this fully immersive cooking class experience. It was so successful, I've already been able to recreate one of the sauces in my own kitchen. After the experience, he shared even more of his expertise by sending a very complete cooking guide for a number of other Italian delights. I can't wait to try them all! Massimo was so kind to welcome us into his home and share his cooking expertise with us. We had 4 generations working together in his kitchen, ages 87 to 4. We all took turns learning how to mix, roll, slice and cook our own homemade pasta. The best part was getting to eat what we made. YUM!! Massimo was a patient instructor who made us feel comfortable right from the minute he greeted us. He answered all of our questions and entertained us with stories of how his Grandmother made this recipe for Sunday family dinners. We brought leftovers home with us and he shared the recipes with us. I can't wait to try making the pasta back home in the USA. We all enjoyed our afternoon. I would highly recommend this experience to families of all ages. Great experience for our whole family!

We did a fettuccine cooking class with 4 adults and 2 young children (ages 1 and 4). We were nervous initially because our kids are young but Massimo was wonderful! He set my 4 year old up with a bowl of “pasta mixture” for her to play with and she loved it. He was very welcoming and we felt like we learned so much! On a budget I chose pasta making over the food tour as I wanted most to finally find the pasta of my dreams. Historically I’ve only really encountered heavy pasta dishes so I was hoping to experience a revolution. As well as Massimo having his cat cushion and remote stolen by a toddler, he showed us how easy pasta can be. Minds blown. Great explanations and tips as well as 3 complementary sauces. I actually had a dream last night I was making pasta in my own home just the way Massimo taught us! It was very fun to get hands on to make the pasta and even better to get to eat it later. Massimo was welcoming, knowledgeable and a great teacher. His apartment is a quick and pleasant walk from the Colosseum. We sat in his kitchen, drank wine and learned all about making pasta. We’ve successfully reproduced 2 of the recipes at home and are looking forward to making the third soon. The pasta class with Massimo was such an amazing and lovely experience! He is beyond welcoming and warm. He invites you into his home has if you are family and that sets the tone for the entire experience. We had so much fun making the fettuccine and ravioli- it was like we were transported back to cooking with our grandmother. Massimo was so wonderful at explaining everything, answering our questions and also adjusting things for our food allergies. This was the absolute perfect cooking experience. We are planning how to make these recipes at home for family and friends already. My family joined Massimo in his home for the fettuccine making class. We’ve two daughters, aged 12 & 9, who were eager to learn how to make an authentic Italian meal and they weren’t disappointed. Massimo was a welcoming and gracious host, who was patient and attentive with our kids. They loved the class and the food was delicious. The only thing I may change would be to add an extra 15 to 30 minutes to the class timing when doing classes with kids, as they may be a little slower to do the pasta making. Overall, a really fun afternoon and tasty treat for anyone who wants an introduction to making a classic Italian dish. We found Massimo in the WithLocals App, made our reservation, paid by credit card a month in advance and met Massimo at the agreed time in his apartment. Massimo is super friendly, funny and clever. During our recent visit to Rome, we participated in a risotto cooking workshop led by Massimo, and it was an absolute highlight of our trip! Massimo welcomed us into his beautiful classic apartment, located just a stone's throw from the Colosseum. Although the apartment is considered 'new' by Roman standards at 150 years old, it exudes the charm and history of the city. Massimo is not only a master in the kitchen but also an exceptionally friendly and engaging storyteller. As he taught us the art of making risotto, he shared fascinating stories about daily life in Rome and the cultural differences between northern and southern Italy. His stories were so captivating that, inspired by his anecdotes, we decided never to buy Barilla pasta again, just like him! ;-) His perfect command of the English language allowed us to have truly enjoyable and in-depth conversations. The cozy atmosphere was completed with a delightful glass of wine with the meal. And now the most important part: did we learn anything from the workshop? Absolutely! Massimo provided us with countless tips and tricks. Making risotto may not be complicated, but it does require constant attention and care. Thanks to Massimo, we now feel confident in making the perfect risotto at home. We highly recommend Massimo to anyone looking for a unique and educational culinary experience in Rome. I'm never ever going to buy ready made pasta sauce now that we learned from Massimo how easy and fun is to cook a delicious three course meal from scratch in no time. Me my wife and my 12, 15 and 24 y/o children had a blast cooking together with massimo and learning in the mean time about ingredients, history and bits and pieces of fun information. Where to even begin? It was our first time in Rome and Massimo was a joy to be around. I’d contacted him prior to the booking in regards to our personal interests and my intention to propose to my now fiancée and straight away he had the most amazing ideas and seemed so genuine in wanting to make it the memorable and magical experience it was. As clueless tourists for starters I’d recommend this at the start of your trip. We had a beautiful food tasting tour filled with lovely snippets of the Roman way of life, the architecture and to summarise a real insight into Rome itself. After a day with Massimo you see this beautiful city in a different way. You feel like you begin to really understand it, the people and the culture and that for me beats being the generic tourist that we are all so guilty of being. Amazing food, beautiful city and a wonderful and enthusiastic Roman in Massimo was just the start of it all. He took us to the Palazzio Doria Pamphilj (Hall of mirrors) for the proposal and helped capture a very special moment for us followed by cocktails on top of a beautiful terrace with panoramic views of the city. Our guide Massimo gave us a wonderful tour of Rome by night which reflected our interests in history and art as well as food. He showed us some churches we'd missed - even after 4 days' extensive sightseeing! - and gave us the insight of a local who'd grown up in Rome. In our tastings we sampled Roman street food whilst enjoying the buzz of a couple of hours of a Roman Saturday night. Great fun, thank you. Lovely way to spend an evening in Rome

Massimo was a great teacher and very flexible about adapting this class for our very young grandsons. He says the ideal age is 5+ but the twins are only 2 and 1/2 and he was very patient with their limited skills/attention span, managing to keep them excited and involved the whole time. This tour absolutely made our day. We got caught in a terrible storm and Massimo was flexible with our starting point so that we had time to get dry clothes! Communicating through the app was very easy. He was extremely knowledgeable and told us about many subtle aspects of Rome we would have overlooked otherwise. It was beautiful to walk around Rome in the evening. We appreciated learning about the food we were tasting and we were full by the end of the tour! Massimo’s cooking class was one of the best experiences we had on our entire trip! The class takes place in Massimo’s apartment in the heart of Rome, which made the entire experience so authentic.
