We booked Julien through a referral from a friend and this was easily one of the best things we did on our honeymoon. Julien was amazing. He made the Louvre feel personal, approachable, and honestly kind of magical. I’m not an art expert by any stretch, but he made everything feel interesting and easy to understand. The way he told the stories behind the paintings and sculptures really brought them to life. We didn’t have a direction or focus we wanted and entrusted our experience to him. He also picked up on the fact that we were on our honeymoon and added these thoughtful touches throughout the tour. He pointed out romantic pieces, shared cool little hidden spots, and just made the whole experience feel tailored to us. It didn’t feel like a tour, it felt like walking through the museum with a super knowledgeable friend who really cared about making it memorable for us. We walked away feeling inspired, grateful, and so glad we booked it. I could not recommend him enough. Julien was our guide for a tour in het Louvre a week ago, for me and my twelve year old daughter. Julien advise us to start a little early (8:45 am), to be able to see the Mona Lisa before large groups of (Asian) tourists poured into the hall where the painting is exhibited. And good advice it was….we had pretty much uninterrupted views of the painting for about 5 minutes. We experienced a small thrill from running through the hallways and the corridors of the Louvre (just follow the guide...) to be at the painting as soon as possible. Apart from this nice episode, Julien is very kind and friendly and has extensive knowledge of the Louvre building, its history and occupants and the artwork on display, for instance the 18th century French painters, the jewellery, the Greek and Roman statues etc. etc. Also he asked my daughter a lot of questions about the museum and paintings and involved her a lot in the explanation of the artworks. My family of four selected Julien to guide us through the Louvre to see some highlights. I had sent him a note just the evening before requesting a few things to see with as much context and story telling as he could provide. We saw everything I requested and then some, but more importantly, Julien pointed out things that brought the artwork to life and gave it meaning, providing history, context, and fun facts. First of all, Julien was spectacular!!! BUT, tickets were not available when we showed up when our voucher specifically stated not to buy tickets and just pay cash to Julien who would have the tickets. Your website should state to purchase the tickets at the same time you book a guide!?!?! The tour of the D'Orsay with Julien was great! First, Julien offered to buy the tickets for us before the tour to save time (we, of course, reimbursed him for the tickets) - it was wonderful that we could just meet him at the entrance and walk into the museum. Once the tour began, Julien's knowledge of the artists and their works was incredible and he kept us engaged throughout the time. We felt that we saw and learned so much during our time together. And when we needed a little break during the tour, Julien was so accomodating and immediately pivoted to explaining other art pieces to us while we rested. Communication with Julien prior to the day of the tour was great! He kept us informed of all of the important details, including the place to meet him on the day of the tour. He purchased our admission tickets to the Louvre in advance, and was waiting in the line to enter the museum before it opened. Once it opened we very quickly made our way to see the Mona Lisa and it gave us a great view before the crowds arrived. He continued yes to point out the highlights of the Louvre and explained a lot of detail in the paintings to really help us understand the artists perspective. Julien was great, but, I wish I hadn’t allowed him to convince me to take my daughter to the Louvre instead of the Orsay. The Louvre is crowded and overwhelming. They opened 1.5hrs late, which was absolutely not his fault, but the we were forced to do a turbo tour making it much less enjoyable. It burned out my daughter on museums. She normally loves them and will spend hours in them, but although she said she enjoyed the tour, I couldn’t convince her to go to another museum after. The tour guide was great, we just didn’t have a great experience with the Louvre. I prefer the Orsay. Less crowded and I find the impressionists more fun.Great guide

To say that Julien is enthusiastic about art and history is a massive understatement. My husband and I never considered ourselves to be art fans but we certainly are now. Julien is the best! He took us to the must-sees: Venus of Milo, Mona Lisa, the Winged Victory, as well as countless other amazing works of art. He loves what he does, and is passionate about sharing his love for art. We enjoyed his insights on so many masterpieces. Julian was an amazing guide! Everything we wanted and more. His explanation of what we were seeing was an education coming to life as he combined it with interesting stories of the timeframe. In addition to his knowledge and capacity to vividly explain the artwork, Julian is a very kind and helpful person. We were there during the crazy timeframe of the Olympic Games and it was extremely difficult to visit the Louvre with the strict security so we ran late jumping through the various security measures and Julian patiently waited for us without complaining or shortening our tour. I can not say enough great things about Julien! He was very responsive and commutative leading up to our tour. He was extremely knowledgeable about the art (and I minored in italian art history so I can say 100% he was accurate). He able to engage my 8 and 12 year olds, (to the point where my son has now asked to go to Rome and Florence to go see all the art pieces and artists Julien referenced!) He made getting into the louvre and to the Mona Lisa a breeze! He took countless photos of us as a family. Both my kids have said the Louvre was their favorite part of our trip to Paris and I know it’s because of Julien! Oh and Julien even helped me get tickets by telling me when the tickets went on sale for the month we were visiting - without that we probably wouldn’t have even made it to the Louvre!
