Jack is a very informative guide and very well organised sending us lots of details in advance of our day out on Singapore Islands. This was important as the islands have limited infrastructure and having information advance on the need for water and the timetables for the ferries was very important. Jack was punctual in collecting us from our hotel and had a well organised day for us on St John’s Island and then Kusu Island. Jack plans the day with an arrival back into our hotel in Singapore for 1630 and we were back on time. Overall an excellent experience with a very knowledgeable guide, who discusses not only Singapore but is interested in your experiences of travel.Sunyy day on Singapore’s islands

Our guide was friendly and also bought us some snacks, but the stated time in the tour description wasn't correct, because the ferry times are different on the weekend. Our guide gave us the possibility to make a longer tour (for the same price) to see more, but we had some other tickets/plans for the rest of the day (because of the false description). Interesting, but not a must see

Leider war die Tour das Geld nicht wert. Jack's Englisch war für uns (obwohl wir gut Englisch sprechen) kaum oder nur sehr schwer zu verstehen. War aber nicht schlimm, weil Jack uns im Grunde nichts erzählte. Wir marschierte vorweg, wir versuchten ihm mühsam im Gedränge von Chinatown zu folgen. Neue Information erhielten wir kaum, auf Fragen ging er kaum ein. Außerdem bot er uns nach kurzer Zeit an, die Tour zu beenden, weil am Vortag des chinesischen Neujahrsfestes in ChinaTown ohnehin alles geschlossen wäre (und - wo unsere Vermutung - er selbst lieber zurück nach Hause wollte). Warum bestätigt er diese Tour an diesem Abend, wenn das ein ungeeignetes Datum ist? Statt dessen überreichte uns zwei (ohnehin kostenlose) Tickets für eine öffentliche Veranstaltung in den Gardens by the Bay. Zu der Veranstaltung konnte er uns wenig sagen. Wegen seiner schlechten Zeitplanung konnten wir dorthin nur noch mit dem Taxi fahren. In Summe die schlechteste Tour ever mit einem unseres Erachtens ungeeigneten Guide - trotz seines offiziellen Tour Guide Zertifikats.Mega-Flop

Although Jack had some very good local knowledge and we were able to prize the information out of him, it was very hard work. He was quite clear that we had chosen the wrong time to do the tour, which made us wonder why he accepted the commission in the first place. Overall, we were able to gain insight into the Hawker centres and some of the local dynamics, so it wasn’t a complete waste of time. Jack let us eat a full lunch for the first of five courses, which meant every single next course was a struggle to eat and was very uncomfortable. Finally, his English was questionable, and I found it very hard to understand what he said, so consequently missed a loss of the information. Not worth the money.Could do better…

This was our second day with Jack and that morning we had already received all the pictures and videos he taken on our day trip to the Singapore Islands. This level of organisation was very important and unable us to have an excellent morning in the gardens by the bay. The choice of what to see in the large area was well done and we came away extremely impressed with both the cloud forest and the flower garden. We sort of mucked Jack around with start times, and he was super chill about it (we did get there on time in the end). As we had spent 40 hours without sleep (thank you Emirates!), we didn't have any real direction for Jack, but he managed to show us some of the history and certainly his knowledge of Singapore is second to none. At the end of the 90 minute introduction to Singapore he even hand delivered us to Raffles and told us about the history of it on the way!Knowledgeable and accommodating.

Of the three people available for the 4 hour tour, Jack Zhou seemed to be a good choice - a local with the knowledge of history, architecture, culture. The tour offered a good overview with transportation and the choice of a snack or drink. Jack Zhou - What were found however was a nice person who didn’t have any thing to say beyond the obvious. We actually wanted a bit of history, an insight into culture and how Singapore developed as shown through architecture. Jack might have had that knowledge but we didn’t have that experience with him. We didn’t learn much at all. A part of the problem might have been the communication difficulties. He couldn’t understand us very well and vice versa. Within the first hour we knew this wasn’t a tour with a knowledgeable local. His pride was more in taking us to places where we could pose with a mural, and we weren’t interested in doing that at all. The other promise that was not met was transport. The walking was good but when we were to move to another part of the city, the transportation was by taxi only and we had to pay for that. It wasn’t included in the cost. Also, we were not offered the choice of snack or drink - Jack took us to a drink stand and that’s what we had. Jack was polite and friendly, without a doubt but the gap between our expectations and what he had to offer was stark. We ended the tour early. Big gap between promise and reality

My tour guide, Jack, was amazing! I corresponded with him for several weeks before our arrival to develop a customized tour that was a hybrid of typical tours. He was fully cooperative to help us find the best balance that met our expectations, which also provided him with an opportunity to give us his recommendations. He communicated with us while we were traveling to ensure our meet up would be flawless and it was. The tour itself was perfect - although it was an extremely hot and humid day. Jack was absolutely amazing with our engineering student group. Highly flexible and responsive to our tour request when booking, and during the tour he explained the most essential things about Singaporean history, culture, and symbolism. Jack is a passionate high energy gentlemen with whom we had a great day. He met us at our hotel and we took a taxi to the port area. He bought us some snacks and drinks and then we boarded the ferry. We hopped to a few islands as he guided us down paths and beaches. We had a 2hr shaded picnic overlooking the beach. Definitely recommend going on a weekday when it’s much less crowded. Overall a fun day to escape the city and crowds to immerse yourself in nature. Bring lots of water sunscreen and an umbrella for shade while walking. Fun day island hopping with Jack!

Recently (Jan '23) celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary in beautiful Singapore - a surprise trip for my wife! I hadn't been back for many years and after some great reviews from our travel agent about Withlocals (Jack Zhao), I booked a 4hr city tour with him. Had to change the original date we had booked due to Jack's availability but he more than made up for this on our tour - covering all taxi expenses, paying for dinner in one of the Hawker centres and extending the tour time beyond the scheduled 4hrs. Jack took us to all the major precincts and was very knowledgeable on the origins and history of these areas. He was polite and friendly, with good communication skills.
