Betty was very likeable and a good guide. She was very knowledgeable about the area we covered and took us a couple of places we would never have found ourselves. The only drawback was that she seemed over excited about doing the tour that she spoke quite loudly and very quickly without a break which got a bit tiresome over three hours. We did a WW2 tour with Miha, with a group including our kids (9, 13), and in-laws (70's), and everyone had a great time. We got an amazing introduction and overview to all of Berlin, but the best was the personal stories and getting to know Miha. He was obviously a very passionate guide, well-informed, and very personable. The pace was perfect for us, and the time flew by. We spent two hours with Miha as he took us on a walking tour of Berlin and into The Reichstag. Unlike other tour guides we’ve had in the past, Miha stayed with us, listening along to the audio tour and adding additional information and context to what was on the recording. He was also generous with answers about his family’s experiences with events in Europe over the last 80 years that really brought the history out of names and dates into the impact it had on people and their descendants. Spending a few hours eating and drinking with Sara was an absolute pleasure. She accommodated my pescatarian teenager, despite Berlin not being a terribly seafood friendly city. Extremely knowledgeable and interesting throughout, not just with food, but also with respect to culture, history and politics. Learnt a lot, and a great introduction to the Kreuzberg district. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Betty, and we were so glad that we saw parts of Berlin that most tourists miss. Together with the more usual activities and "attractions" we'd already enjoyed, the afternoon enabled us to experience à more rounded and "real" impression of the city. Betty was willing and able to taylor the experience to fit our preferences, so we started off looking at architecture on Museum Island (Insel), continued to some fascinating shops & galleries in Hackescher Markt, & finished in a community arts centre in the "alternative" neighbourhood of Kreuzberg. Betty was a well-informed, energetic, enthusiastic and engaging guide, who was nevertheless prepared to go at our pace, and respond to what we wanted. This was definitely a tour for visitors wanting something different from, or in addition to, the popular tourist haunts, who are prepared to be open to new and sometimes edgy experiences and possibly have their assumptions challenged. We booked Michèle through a word-of-mouth suggestion and it was a great call. Michèle was exactly the right blend of knowledgable, relaxed and helpful. She didn't rush, she listened to our needs and preferences and tailored our tour so well. It was much more like being with a friend than a "tour guide". Not knowing Berlin really at all we were slightly apprehensive at the prospect of biking in a big city, but it was perfect - most of the tour is not on busy streets, and even the busier bits were relatively calm.
