   Nalewki Street was the most lively and vibrant street in the so-called northern Jewish quarter, full of shops, manufactories and stalls

6. Krasińskich Garden

   An oasis of calm and a place of rest for Warsaw residents; during the WWII excluded from the Ghetto

7. Szmul Zygielbojm monument

   An extraordinary memorial to one who could not come to terms with the extermination of the Jews

8. Anielewicz Mound at Mila 18

   A mound commemorating the deaths of the leaders of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising

9. Umschlagplatz Monument

   The monument marks the departure point for Jews transported to Treblinka Extermination Camp, where ca. 300,000 Jewish people died

10. Willy Brandt Square and monument

    A memorial to Willy Brandt's tribute to the murdered Jews of Warsaw and all victims of World War II. Good bye!

11. Square at Polin Museum with the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes

    One of the most important places to commemorate the Jews, where Varsovians place daffodils on the anniversary of the Ghetto Uprising

Prior to my arrival in Warsaw I had email discussions with Mona about what my desires were in learning the most about Warsaw and how Mona would be able to help. Based on where we were staying Mona created an itinerary using our hotel as the starting point. She was extremely punctual (10 minutes early) and started the tour using our hotel's history as the beginning of the tour. She then brought us to all of the most wonderful sights of Warsaw and concluded with the history and current trends of Warsaw. Her tour gave us EXACTLY what we had asked for. We had a wonderful tour with Mona through the city center of Warsaw. Mona was so friendly and knew everything about her home city. She told us funfacts about Warsaw as well as historical facts. The food choice was amazing and helped us to get to know the polish kitchen. As my girlfriend is vegetarian, Mona chose in advance only vegetarian option, thabk you for that! Also very nice was that she showed us only spots which were not in the normal touristic area, so that we really could see Warsaw from its propper side. Wir haben die Führung zu zweit genossen (mein Sohn 19 und ich) und es war nie langweilig. Es war grandios. Kommunikation vorab hat tadellos geklappt, dann pünktliches Treffen und los ging es. Wir haben in 3,5 Stunden (trotzdem entspannt) alles gesehen, was uns für den ersten Tag eines Kurztrips nach Warschau interessiert hat. Einen super Ein- und Überblick, mit netten Anekdoten, über diese Stadt, die man toll erlaufen kann. Zeit für ein Käffchen war auch. Mona ist echt eine super Reiseführerin und ihr Deutsch fantastisch. Mona was so informative about the history of the city as well as the traditions and history behind the foods and drinks we tried. We toured with her on a Sunday when a few locations were closed but we were still able to stop many places. My husband and I were stuffed by the end of the tour. Mona met us at our hotel and we visited two restaurants, went on the metro and tram and a short waking tour - all things that are better done with a local guide. We talked extensively about Poland and Warsaw, both present day and historical. These were personal reflections from Mona's own history and her family, a perspective that you wouldn't get from a history book. The Russian and German occupations, and the struggles during communism, were particularly fascinating. I highly recommend this type of experience, and couldn't imagine a better guide than Mona. We had a private tour with Mona who was a pleasure to spend time with on this food tour sharing bits of information as we walked around. We felt the price was high given the types of foods we ate - pierogis, potato pancakes, donuts, pastry, soup, slice of French loaf with topping - all very traditional Polish foods but pretty inexpensive dishes - and some of them shared for 166 Euros.
