Our tour was transferred to Omar from another guide. He was a nice guy but it felt a bit unstructured like he was just going through the motions. We didn’t go to Santo Spirito Church or have an antipasto tasting as described. A couple of places he wanted to show us had long lines so we didn’t go in. With a bit of planning maybe we could have booked skip the line tickets. Informative

Omar was a wonderful guide. His explanation of his neighborhood was truly a tour of his life and experiences. He immersed us in his day to day, introducing us to several artisans at a beautiful mosaics shop, showed us how to drink cafe, we shopped at a local market and introduced us to a local live theater manager. Such a fascinating tour of the Saint’ ambrogio area in Florence. A real insight into a local area with a very local (he was born and raised there) but worldly and very charming guide. A mix of trying local delicacies and seeing the sights big and small. We got a great feel for daily life in this part of Florence and into Italian food and family culture. Perfect contrast to our visits to the more well known sights. Plus some great recommendations for restaurants. And a truly amazing visit to a mosaics workshop with artisans hard at work on incredible masterpieces. Thank you Omar. 100% Recommend Omar & this tour!

We (a family of four, including 14 and 10 year old boys) enjoyed a wonderful morning with Omar, learning about so many interesting aspects of Italian daily life and Sant’Ambrogio in particular. We regret that we forgot to take a picture with Omar because he was so incredibly warm, friendly, and interesting! We were treated to many different experiences but especially appreciated trying delicious local pastries, getting to spend time in an artisan workshop for mosaics (amazing to see the process!) and seeing a local dinner theater with deep ties to the community. Omar was talented at weaving interesting facts and personal stories into the different sites on the tour (his elementary school is absolutely beautiful!) and made our first morning in Florence a memorable and personalized experience. I had been eyeing Omar’s tour of Sant’Ambrogio for weeks before my arrival, but didn’t book it ahead of time because I thought there were just so many museums and sites I wanted to check off in Florence I didn’t think I would have time. Fast forward to my arrival and the city was just so crazy crowded and I didn’t want to blindly walk around trying to get away from the masses so I sent a last minute message to Omar and he was kind enough to oblige! Our morning spent with him was truly awesome and worth every penny. I definitely don’t think I would have appreciated Florence as much as i did if I hadn’t gotten off the beaten path for a bit with such a sweet, passionate and informative local. It was such a great time being able to experience the food market, leather making school, and one of the last mosaic workshops in the city with Omar. We had many other fantastic stops with lots of history to go with! Also, we had a coffee and snack stops! Florence is truly glorious but Withlocals tours brings the city to life on a whole different level that is so much fun and hard to explain so you just need to book this tour with Omar so you can see for yourself! Omar, our guide was amazing. He gave me lots of tips on local restaurants, one we went to, it was totally authentic and the food was so good! He alao had some great suggestions on other things to do while in florence. This was all before we even met him! He is a wonderful story teller and you can see he takes pride in his city. He know so much about it. It was quite fascinating listening and talking to him about florence as we walked around the city. We, A family of 4, booked a Firenze Tour with Omar. He is a great guide. he is clear in his upfront communication, so it is 100% transparent where to meet and what to expect. As soon as we made the booking, Omar reached out to understand what our interests and wishes were. So, he basically "tailor made" the tour and I guess he amended his tour whilst on the go with us. You can immediately tell, he loves the city and is very knowledgeable, in terms of architecture, history, arts and everyday life. We visited parts of Firenze that our not in your Lonely Planet guide book. And tbh these are the places you hope to see and he delivered! Our tour was back end of July, so face masks were in our way, but this did not stop him to entertain us. Our 2 teenage sons loved the experience big time. Omar was amazing from beginning to end. I was bringing my girlfriend to Florence for the first time and was planning on proposing during the trip. Our Florence experience was so memorable because of the insights of Omar. His info page says he is a storyteller, guess what! My wife who hasn't seen a withlocals page told me that Omar talks so well that he is really like a story teller. The exact words! He brought with him his materials to show us the old photos of Florence and many more. Too bad we went there on a Monday, where the museums were close, we could have learned more from him. Our tour with Omar was truly incredible! Omar is a kind, honest and amazing individual. The tour was just what we needed to get to know the city and understand the Firenze culture better. We had a fantastic whirlwind tour of Florence with Omar this past Saturday. I was traveling with my mother, aunt and cousin. While it was my fourth time visiting Florence, it was their first. We had an Airbnb in Rome for a week and took the high speed train to Florence for the day. You can tell that Omar loves his hometown of Florence and has a passion for sharing all of the wonderful history and interesting facts it has to offer.
