Because of train delays, we were a few minutes late in meeting Cristina, but that really caused no problem. She was waiting for us, very welcoming and with a big smile. We had a group of 8, including our granddaughters who are 7 and 9. From the very beginning, Cristina included them in everything. Even though they didn’t respond much, they both said afterwards how nice she was. Cristina was extremely knowledgeable, added interesting stories, and asked questions to stimulate conversations. Cristina was really entertaining, enthusiastic, and very knowledgeable about Florence and its complicated history. The detail in which she explained the way Michelangelo created David was amazing! Cristina was our best guide in Italy. She is so knowledgeable and makes everything relatable to all ages. Our children ages 17, 14 and 12 said it was their favorite tour. She even took us to an amazing spot for lunch and introduced us to the owner before going our separate ways. I am so happy we chose Cristina for this tour! Right from the beginning she greeted us with the enthusiasm she was going to bring to the rest of our time together that day. I was with my son, and he had never been to Florence before. (I have, and I have seen David before, as well.) She engaged with him on his view points of what we were looking at--it was like having your own private professor telling you the story, and asking you your opinion afterward. Cristina shared so much knowledge with the 6 of us during our tour. It was important for her to make eye contact while she talked to ensure we were all engaged. Another bonus was having earphones to hear her as we were in places where she couldn't speak loudly. (The earphones were not a distraction and still allowed us to comment and ask questions.) We spent 4 of our 5 days in Florence enjoying the culture, taking long lunch breaks as well as walks along the Arno, in short, enjoying just ‘being there’. The idea was to rest our minds, not make them work overtime as they must in our real lives in the states. Still, with so many ancient streets and structures holding centuries of stories, we made the decision to spend a day digging in to broaden our understanding. For that, we contacted ‘Withlocals’ and are we ever glad we did. We were hooked up with Christina as our professional docent with the assignment to take us through the Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze with a second stop at the Church of Santa Croce. Wow! More than just pointing out the various features of these amazing structures and their contents, Christina told us story after story with the effect of bringing hundreds, even thousands of years of history to life. It is one thing to ‘see’ Florence with one’s eyes but quite another to ‘See’ Florence through the lens of history while gaining an understanding of it’s pedigree, that which has gone into making it one of the most remarkable cities in Europe. My wife and I highly recommend ‘withlocals’ as a being the source of a professional and knowledgeable guides who will work hard to share the history behind their own love of their city. Randy

Cristina came recommended, and rightfully so. We booked our tour a few months out and had ample opportunity to discuss with her about our requests, for example what to do with kids in Florence. We spend about 6 hours walking through the city, with the kids (and us) engaged the whole time. From the highlights (when was this build, what building is that) to more modern angles (eateries, artisan places etc.). All in all highly recommended.Must book if in Florence

On our visit to Florence we wanted to know all we could about the Medici family and their influence on Florence. We decided a private tour was the way to go and we got extremely lucky when we found Christina. She was patient, kind, very knowledgeable and thorough. We did not do the Pitti Palace but did everything else. She listened to what we wanted to do and incorporated that into what we also asked her to include using her knowledge and judgement. I was crashing my friend's family tour :) I loved how Cristina kept my friend's daughters engaged while giving us interesting information. she clearly is a local and loves her city. It made me feel closer to the city even though we were surrounded by tourists. This was a great way to start feeling familiar with Florence. I am a "slow" tourist and this is was a perfect way to be introduced to a very touristic location. Cristina kept my friends' children engaged while going through complex historic details. She loves her city and it shows. She also gave us tips to avoid "tourist traps" and recommend places to see or where to eat, even introduce us to a good family owned gelateria 😀. I spent the morning after walking through the city before meeting my friends' family and it was nice to feel familiar with the city and almost like a local :) Thank you for this very human and interesting visit. We spent a half day with Cristina in Florence, and it was an unbeatable experience. We were a group of 3 generations and she was able to tailor the day in a way that was perfect for each of us. The pace was slow enough for the oldest, but the stories and shopping kept the interest perfectly for all of us. She knows this city like the back of her hand and it was obvious she enjoys what she does. We learned some history, saw amazing architecture, had wonderful gelato and panini, and shopped in some lovely stores. This was probably the best tour I have ever taken.
