Michelangelo's Life & Skip the Line at Accademia Museum in Florence - 0dda4825772c8c8b55918ead146340dc

Learning about Michelangelo's life is the best and most interesting way to get familiar with the history of Florence. And the perfect place to do that is at the Accademia Gallery, where you can see his most famous statue, the David, together with some other remarkable works made by him. Skip the line and go straight to see his masterpieces, there is so much to learn about him that there's no time to waste!

After the visit to the museum, I'll take you to the Medici Palace, home to the family that first supported Michelangelo. You will hear about the very complicated relationship between the master and his patrons and plenty of more details about their relationship.

Walking through the breathtaking square of the Cathedral and the medieval city center, I will show you some of the works of art that inspired Michelangelo's genius. And at the Santa Croce church, you will find out more about the grumpy character and troubled life of this famous sculptor. Inside the church, right in front of Michelangelo's funeral monument, you will hear the fascinating story of his last days.

Let me know if you want more Michelangelo in your life, I can add or adapt any stop from the itinerary, to create the perfect tour for you!

ATTENTION: The entrance tickets to Accademia and Santa Croce are not included. Let me know who will be joining and I will help you in purchasing the tickets!

On Mondays the Accademia is closed, let me know if you wish to visit a different site.

On Sundays morning Santa Croce is closed, we will visit it from outside.

We had a wonderful time with Federica! She is pleasant, very knowledgeable and responsive. Planning and communication began months before we arrived in Florence. She modified and customized the tour to what we wanted to see. She is so easy going, it was like making an instant friend who could show you around. Her knowledge of art history that she shared - so interesting and not commonly known! So glad we booked with Federica!Hosted by a friend

She had exceptional knowledge about our topic. I have been to Florence many times and she offered unusual stories that I have never heard on prior tours . She kept my granddaughter’s attention and made it an enjoyable experience for both of us . I was walking with a cane so she kept the pace appropriate for me . I would recommend her and would request her again ! Great experience!!

Frederica met us on time and took us through Academia, educating us the entire way, she was friendly and easy to talk to. She answered our questions and was very helpful. After seeing the David and the art at Academia, she guided us to the Duomo in Florence, an amazing sight to see. Next was Santa Croce, which we thoroughly enjoyed as well, learning more about Michelangelo and Galileo, both buried there. We were glad to have her with us for the afternoon! Hire her! What a wonderful afternoon!

Federica was an absolute delight! She took very good care of us. She has a way of giving you the information in a conversational format verses talking at you. And she always made sure we were comfortable and gave us chances to sit down as we talked about Michelangelo. We learned so much! We would highly recommend her. So Delightful!

We spent two half-days with Federica in Florence in May 2022 and were so happy to have had her guidance navigating the artistic treasures of that city, not to mention the crowds! There is so much to see in Florence that it can be overwhelming. Federica took us on two well thought out tours: the first was Michelangelo's Life and skip the Line at Academia Museum, the second was a Tour of the Uffizi. We are so happy that she was our guide on both. She met us at our hotel and as we walked with her to various places of interest in Michelangelo's life she told us so much about him and about his place in the artistic and social history of Italy, and Florence in particular. Federica really knows her subject in depth and there was not a question that she couldn't answer. On top of that she was funny and gracious and expertly negotiated huge crowds of tourists and students. The same applied on our tour of the Uffizi. There is no way that you can see everything there in an afternoon. Federica chose certain paintings and spoke about them with wonderful insight, adding colourful details and anecdotes about the artists and the times in which the works were created. We had a really great afternoon. We would highly recommend Federica to anyone looking for an intelligent, informative and fun guide to Florence. What an amazing adventure through Florence with the kindest and most knowledgeable guide Federica. We were told amazing stories about Michelangelo, his life, and his masterpieces. These stories that Federica shared with us while we strolled through the museum and gorgeous streets of Florence would never have been available to us without our amazing guide. Even my children felt like they gained impressive insights into the master and his city. We are grateful to have had this time with Federica. In the footsteps of Michelangelo

Federica was awesome! We booked the first tour of the day for our family adventure through Florence. We had a 9 and 14 year old that were not all that excited about touring a museum and learning, but Federica made the experience engaging and informative. She also shared with us interesting insights about Florence and highlighted some of the best gelato finds along with ideas on where to shop. All around a great morning!!! Thank you Federica!Great Tour - for Kids and Adults

Our family of 4 had a great tour with Federica. She was kind, very knowledgeable, and patient. I let her know in advance that we had a special needs 6-year-old child in our group and he may need breaks. She was patient and kind, and arrived with 2 Michelangelo-related activities to keep him engaged while she gave the adults more detailed explanations and background information. She really cared about us, our experience and sharing her knowledge with us all in age appropriate ways. We learned so much more with Federica than we could have on our own or in a larger group tour. Thank you, Federica!Knowledgeable, patient, and made it fun and engaging for all

Frederica was a wonderful guide to our visit to the Academia and Santa Croce Church. Her approach was most friendly and flexible - allowing my husband and I to ask questions that come to us in a stream of consciousness and often have us straying from the subject somewhat. This can sometimes create a slight tension with guides as they feel they have to 'get through' a certain amount of material to succeed. Frederica was relaxed and took our straying in stride but gently guided us on the journey to completion and our tremendous satisfaction. She shared of herself appropriately allowing us to understand the history of the city but also the changes that are occurring and how the people of Florence and larger Italy live their lives. We enjoyed our time with her immensely and it ended too soon! Highly Personal Approach - Best Ever!

We met Federica right on time in a drizzling rain. Once we had our tickets to the Accademia we were ushered right inside the museum. No wait at all. There we learned many interesting things about the beloved master Michelangelo. Our journey continued on through the streets of Florence where Frederica pointed out historical landmarks related to the artist. We landed at Santa Croce where Michelangelo is entombed. We all, there were four of us, found Frederica to be very friendly, bright and charming. She answered our many questions. I definitely recommend booking a small tour like this with her. You won’t regret it.Wonderful Michelangelo tour with Federica

Martina Guadagno was our tour guide as Frederic’s was not feeling well. She was lovely, entertaining, engaging and full of delightful fun facts and stories!! We appreciate that she was able to take our group with such short notice. She kept us moving for 5 full and energetic hours giving us a complete tour of Florence! She made the museums come alive with historical information and fun facts that we are sure to remember for a long time to come. She obtained reservations for us for the following day at another museum and gave us recommendations for our upcoming trip to Naples. Martina is a wonderful tour guide. Martina took our tour, she was exceptional

We booked federica at the last minute. I am very grateful because: She was very fast in responding to my messages. It made planning and adjusting much easier. She was also flexible, travelling with a group of 8 people with a couple of quirks and time constraints in a foreign land, can be stressful, she was flexible enough to adjust right away. She was also honest, We had to cut our tour short from 5 hours to 3, she adjusted the rates to reflect that (wow). It was unforgettable, her tour was informative and she managed to keep me wide-eyed, in awe and interested the whole tour. We felt like we were being toured by a friend who cared about our interests, one who knew exactly what we wanted. She showed us where the best coffee was, the most authentic gelato and which statue is rumored to be a fake michaelangelo. It takes a genuine soul to be able to inspire a human being. I almost cried in wonder during our tour, she strengthened my belief in humanity through her words and her actions. What an unforgettable day we had at Florence.Unforgettable and Inspiring

We loved our Michaelangelo tour with Frederica. As an art historian, she knows her stuff. However, her insights were not boring or stuffy in any way. She showed us things about art in the Academie that we would have not noticed on our own, and gave us a deeper understanding of the politics of Michaelangelo’s time. Plus, Frederica is just the most pleasant person you can imagine. She gave us a trattoria recommendation which turned out to be a wonderful lunch. We highly recommend her tour.Frederica was great!
