Night Tour With A Local in Hanoi - 52ad800947519c47dd64f8b6ddf477f1

At night the locals come out to enjoy the lively atmosphere, so why not join them? Enjoy of the lively nightlife of Hanoi and see the city from a different light, together with a local.

Join me for a relaxing fun walk around the old quarter of Hanoi. Check out some of the newest craft beer pubs that Hanoi has to offer in the old town. And try the awesome concoction that is the Pho cocktail. Yes, you read that right, a Pho cocktail! The locals have taken the spices from the famous soup and made them into a cocktail. Watch how they make the cocktail right in front of you and give it a try!

Mingle and enjoy a drink with the local party people at the highest rooftop sky bar in Hanoi's old quarter overlooking the city.

The beer and the food won't stop during your night out in Hanoi. Try quality craft beers from two new craft beer bars in the old town. Followed by getting a banh mi from the banh mi king, plus more, street foods.

All of the drinks and all of the food are authentic Hanoian treats. You'll try unique crafts beers and cocktails, that for some locals are the best in the city. Because if this is your only night in Hanoi, you should go out local style!

Throughout the experience, I will give you tips and pointers on how to make the most of your night out, how to enjoy this big city, and how to navigate it. Don't worry, I got you!

Don't forget that this night is your night and if you would like to add or change anything, I will gladly personalize this experience for you.

This was my second trip to Hanoi and my partner and I spent an evening with Brian on his walking tour. Great guy who is very knowledgeable about Vietnamese history. First stop was a roof top bar with views across the city. We then explored local street food vendors trying the infamous Banh Mi, a chicken and rice dish and grilled quail eggs. Without Brian’s recommendations we probably wouldn’t have stopped at these place. They were definitely popular with locals and worth a stop . We also visited a quirky bar serving a flaming Pho cocktail and then onto the Pasteur Craft Beer bar to try out a beer flight of three local beers. The passion fruit and Jasmine IPA’s were the favourite. We would definitely recommend the tour with Brian. Great way to spend and evening in Hanoi

A must do tour to get a quick snapshot of Hanoi! Very informative and Brian was a wonderful guide! Great way to see Old Town. Brian suggested we change our meet time to earlier so we could get an amazing view of the sunset from the highest roof top bar in Hanoi (Skyline) . We sat at a lovely vantage point started with a Hanoi beer and Brian gave us his intro and some history about Vietnam and the new trending rooftop bars that have popped up since Covid. We then walked the Old Quater and stopped at a Bahn Mi place and had some Bahn Mi and Viet Coffee, this is one of Brian’s fave spots and we could see why. The Bahn mi bread was light and fluffy and crunchy. The flavours were very yummy and their housemade chilli sauce was a standout for me. The coffee was a thick condensed milk coffee, I didn’t really like the texture but my husband loved it and drank both of ours. We continued on and walked and talked, Brian showed us some of the most narrow laneways and living quarters of Old Town and delved into the history of the bomb shelters and the many families that lived in the small locations. We then stopped at another street food stop which Brian said did the best Nam Gha in town. We had 2 dishes one was a chicken salad and the other was a soy chicken and rice. Both were very tasty. Next stop was a very cool bar were we went to try the famous Pho Cocktail, the experience was very cool and to see how the mixologist infused the gin with the 3 spices of Pho - cardamom, cinnamon and star anise over very hot heat and then served ice cold in a Pho Bowl with all the toppings. The flavours were amazing and it really was like having a cold alcoholic pho. Delicious We continued on and walked and talked with a stop at another fave of his, saying they were one of the only places serving this dish in Hanoi, we loved the little dogs at this stop and we sat watched the old man make our food - it was a tiny omelette style made of quail eggs, butter, sliced green onions, crispy shallots and sausage topped with a pork floss. I was a bit hesitant but it was absolutely delicious, like something I had never tried before so I am glad Brian showed us this. We ended our tour at a craft beer stop at Pastuer Bee, Brian got us some paddles of their standouts and his favourites and for craft beer drinkers he was on point - we had a Passionfruit Wheat Ale, a Jasmine IPA and a Nitro Irish stout. They were all outstanding, I’m not a stout gal but I really liked the stout so I was impressed. We said our goodbyes and thanks Brian and we really had such a good night and a great snapshot of where to head next. Thank you Brian Great Tour with awesome host

Booking a tour in advance is a good shout. Me and the better half only had 2 nights in Hanoi city itself and didn’t want to waste time when we got there. It’s a busy and almost chaotic city and even if time isn’t a factor Brian and his Taste of Hanoi were fab Great knowledge and took us to some cool and very local places. Great food stops along the way. Fun and informative. Craft beers, cocktails and the highest Sky Bar ( there are many ) with great views If had a few more days, would def book another tour with BrianA night in Hanoi. Awesome

We met Brian in the middle of Hanoi and we went through the vibrant streets to our firts stop in a skybar. Brian took the time to tell us a lot about the skylines of Hanoi and about the history of this cool city. Afterwards we went into the old quarter of Hanoi. With a lot of interesting things to see and great facts and details from Brian. Then we had our first snack and it was delicious. And it went on like that for the rest of the evening always new stuff to taste and see. We highly recommend this tour if you want to see the night of Hanoi with a great guide with a lot of insight of the city. We had an unforgettable time. So book and see for yourself... keep up the great work Brian!Fabulous night out in Hanoi with Brian

Having a knowledgeable local offers insights into the foods that can be missed by online travel forums. I especially enjoyed the refreshing 'nam go' shredded cabbage salad topped with chicken, all sitting in a subtly seasoned broth. Brian's knowledge of western tourist's taste is borne out in the tour, incorporating a nice balance of food, cocktails and beer sampling. The 'pho cocktail' is a must - gin subtly spiced with star anise, cardamom and coriander, topped with cilantro. Refreshing and unique. The day before I took 2 mini-tours with another well regarded tour company. While well conducted, "Night Tour with a Local" outshone them both. Western insight reflected in a nicely desi

Awesome experience with Brian on my night tour. Took me to very nice and interesting local places, tried very unique drinks as well as local craft beers, and tasted great Vietnamese food that enhanced the experience. He also taught me about the culture and live in Hanoi. In addition to that he is very flexible in planning and customizing the experience. I made the terrible mistake of miscalculating my time and overbooked myself for that day, he was kind enough to accommodate last minute and still provide me with a memorable experience. Highly recommended! Carlos MPNight tour

Brian was an incredible host showing me around old Hanoi. He is incredibly knowledgeable of all things Vietnam. He will show you cool historical landmarks literally off the beaten path (no spoilers - you’ll have to see for yourself). Given his culinary background, the food stops were impeccable and such a treat. His knowledge of local craft beer is unparalleled and highly reccomend that new tour of his as well. Lastly, he went way above and beyond just the night tour and helped organize an overnight boat for me in Ha Long Bay. Don’t miss out on one of his tours! Epic night in old Hanoi

We had a fabulous time with Brian who went out of his way to show us some incredible Vietnamese food. All the spots he took us to were off the beaten track and all of them highlighted a different type of noodle or main ingredient. Come hungry because you will need plenty of room for all the delicious bites Brian provides! Definitely recommend doing this tour at the beginning of your visit to Hanoi so you can eat like a local for the rest of your stay!Amazing Food Tour with Brian

Day one in Hanoi and we were hot, bothered and overwhelmed but Brian magically steered us through this chaos with information about Vietnam’s history and culture as well as taking us to what seemed like dozens of restaurants and street stalls. Brian was able to explain the cooking processes and ingredients of the extensive array of dishes we tried. He tailored the tour to our food preferences to ensure we were comfortable with his menu choices. He’s also a great conversationalist, so after my wife finished with the foodie questions we were able to cover many other topics while sampling Hanoi’s many delights. I don’t know how we kept eating, drinking and walking for nearly four hours but we did! It was a great night out.Street food delights in Hanoi

We were in Hanoi a few weeks ago and I have to say the highlight of our stay there was the tour we did with Brian and his tour guides. All the guides were lovely and all spoke great english. My brother is Down’s syndrome and Brian brought a guide who works with special needs. Needless to say this foresight was something we weren’t expecting. I was on the back of Brian’s bike and he was a super guide. Hugely informative and the tour was wonderful. We got to see so many different sides to life in Hanoi. I couldn’t recommend this organisation enough. I’ll definitely be contacting them again as they do yourselves in a few different countries in south east Asia. Definitely look them up. We did the east meets west motorbike tour as a family with teen and 5yo in December. Brian provides more of an expat’s view of Hanoi, so was great that he arrived with a team of 3 English-speaking lovely local lady guides (Hoa, Linh and Ha) to help bike mum and kids around, and who were able to provide insights into the finer details of local culture and practices. Much fun traversing the streets of Hanoi and banana island, with brief narratives and stops for creamy yoghurt coffee, roadside Banh Mi with sugar cane juice, ending with traditional Vietnamese lunch by Truc Bach lake. Lots to see and do packed into a few hours perhaps consider a longer day-long tour if you have the time and are not travelling with young children who might be tired out more quickly. A little apprehensive at first as even the little one would ride pillion on his own, but comforted by fact that even kid-sized helmets are provided and the ride led by experienced and safe riders. One suggestion to improve safety is perhaps to arrange for the bike with youngest to ride in the middle of the entourage and not as the last bike. Best to ensure your travel insurance covers such activities, and bring a windbreaker/scarf to ward off the cold in winter (face mask too, if sensitive to Hanoi air which can get smoggy/dusty). Thanks to Brian, Hoa, Linh and Ha for a fun last day Hanoi!Family fun on 1/2 day motorbike tour

Brian was a ball of energy and sped through everything like lightning! He knew exactly what he was doing and where he was going and was super outgoing, excited and passionate about the tour even though it was just me and him. Even though he was feeling a little under the weather, he breezed through the tour like a pro and was game to talk about anything. Be sure to watch out for his magic bag of stuff - I was surprised to see one thing after another pulled out of his bag of tricks. The only thing he didn't pull out was a rabbit, haha. If you can keep up with his bullet train speed through of stuff, you'll be just fine in his hands. His energy was great, so do give him a chance to play host while you're in Hanoi :) Ball of energy!

Brian was an excellent tour guide. My wife, 1.5 year old daughter and I enjoyed the off-the-beaten-path tour to Tam Coc and Hoa Lu. Brian picked us up from our hotel promptly and arranged for an easy drive 1.5 hours away from Hanoi. We avoided the touristy areas and were among some of the only Westerners at the locations Brian showed. He is extremely knowledgeable of Vietnamese history and made the day quite enjoyable. The lunch he arranged at a local homestay was amazing, one of our best eating experiences in Vietnam. Local family and huge spread of fresh, traditional dishes in a quaint setting among the limestone cliffs near Tam Coc. Brian is filled with information about the area, things to see/do in Hanoi, places to eat and drink. If you’re interested in experiencing the Hanoi area there are tours available all over. However, if you’re looking for something more customizable and intimate, I highly recommend Brian and his company, A Taste of Hanoi. His company does a plethora of tours, Walking Food Tour, Craft Beer Tour, Halong Bay, Tam Coc, and soon to be the only war tour by motorbike. Do yourself a favor and book something through Brian!Awesome experience with knowledgable guide
